My Favorite Remote Control
The Philips Pronto TSU7000 is a great remote for users who are willing and able to create their own custom screen layouts. It’s really too bad that Philips quit making this model several years, ago. This remote has a nice, large color LCD touchscreen that can be programmed to easily control even the most sophisticated home theater setup. For those who don’t like touchscreen, the TSU7000 has a good selection of “hard” or fixed buttons that can be programmed for the most commonly used functions like volume, mute, channel +/-, menu navigation, etc. Even though it is large, most people will be able to hold and operate it with one hand.
Where the TSU7000 really excels is in its ability to be programmed to meet the user’s needs. Using a virtually unlimited number of screen templates, custom graphic images, and powerful macro functions, the Pronto can be programmed to make even the most complex remote control task a simple single button press. For example, if you want to use this remote in different rooms, you can create a button that is actually a “picture” of that room. When press, that button changes to a screen that uses a background mimicking that room’s décor, while at the same time, transmitting the appropriate IR signals to turn on the devices in that room. Basically, any series of IR commands and any set of graphic images can be tied together to give you the power of dozens of remotes in one easy to use device.
With the optional RF module, the TSU7000 can be used to control devices behind cabinet doors or even in other rooms of your house. This also means the remote doesn’t have to be pointed at the device being controlled, so it can still be used while it sits comfortable on a nearby table. RF is also a more reliable than IR, so devices respond more readily to single button presses.
If there is anything that could be considered undesirable about the TSU7000, it’s in the complexity of its features. If you are looking for an easy to program remote that has you up and running quickly, then the TSU700 is probably not for you. If you are a creative person who enjoys “tweaking” your system, then you will definitely enjoy the TSU700o and its easy to use software. One caveat is that the remote will not work with 65-bit Windows operating systems, so make sure you have access to a 32-bit O/S such as Windows XP or “XP Mode” under Windows 7. Unfortunately, Philips has discontinued this remote and won’t be offering any updated drivers.Lire l'avis complet...
