tears tears and more tears

I received this book in the mail only yesterday, but have been changed forever by Paula's honesty. I feel like she was talking about me a few times, because it hit SO close to home! It brought me to tears many times. I have lost both my parents in the past four years and having three daughters I sure could use them here to help me! I miss my mama and daddy something awful! I'll be turning 40 in July, too. I'm heading out to Savannah in June and I pray that I get to meet this fantastic lady. I've, unbeknownst to her, adopted her as my new mama. Paula, haven't you always wanted another child? Maybe a girl this time? ! Be sure to buy this book for your own mom, aunt, sister, grandma... any woman in your life who makes your heart smile.Lire l'avis complet...

Paula Deen, A Memoir, It Ain't All About the Cookin'

The reason I bought this book is because there is not a day that goes by that someone tells me that I look like Paul Deen. The first time this happened was about 2 years ago and I had never heard of Paula Deen. I got onto the cooking channel and found her. I've even had people say I talk like her.

I have the audio version of this book and it is read by Paula Deen. Yes, we even talk very much similarly.

I admire this woman because of the struggles she has gone through and she depicts her life so realistically in this book.

She shares that if you have a dream that you believe in, you can still reach it and she definitely has.

If you are discouraged in any way, I recommend that you read this book. It has to lift your spirits and give you courage to go on.

Worth the money. Worth the read.

If I could talk to Paula Deen myself, I would tell her "Thank You." It took courage to tell the truth about her life like she did in this book. I laughed, I cried. She reminds us not to judge one another. It was nice to know she is a REAL person. I am not impressed by celebrities; I wouldn't recognize half of them if they were right next to me. Miss Paula reminds me of my own mamma, and that's why I bought the book and watched her on t.v. to begin with. I have eaten at "The Lady and Sons" and it was definately worth the money and the wait in line. If you are a woman that has ever experienced loss, heartache, struggles, or triumphs, this book is worth your time, in my opinion. I often found it hard to put down. If you are able to put the book down, you can cook up some of the recipes she has included in this book. I felt like I was sitting and listening to a friend talk instead of reading a book. This is one I will be keeping on my shelves.Lire l'avis complet...

It ain't all about the cooking

I am an avid fan of Paulas' home cooking show and also Paulas' Party. I got the book and couldn't put it down, read the whole book in just my spare time in a day and half. I loved that you could know about her whole life and not just the cooking. It was interesting to know her life is just as jumbled as everybody else and there is trials and tribulations behind the pretty millioniare chic that she is. My niece (52 years old) was also a fan of hers
and had a vacation planned around Paulas' Party. Unfortunately she passed away
before the date to go rolled around. She would have loved the book, also.

Paula Deen by Paula Deen, Sherry Suib Cohen

I've been a Paula Deen fan for awhile now and was anxiously waiting on this book. If you are a fan of hers or are just curious about this southern lady, this is a must read! Written as though she was in your kitchen with you ,sharing a cup of coffee, Paula tells you her whole life story . You will laugh with her, cry with her and admire her southern stubborness. It's a no holds barred bare naked look at her terrific rise to fame after overcoming termendous odds. If you aren't already a fan of hers, you soon will be when you hear her stories about her childhood, her first marriage, her illness and her determination to make a better life for herself and her children. She also passes on some of knowledge about starting a small business. Every woman who dreams of opening her own business should read this book. Ebay Paula Deen Bargain Book Saves the Day!

This book was purchased to provide some revenue for our church where we are always raising funds for one reason or another. During the holidays we had 3 fund raisers going. 1) provide food for the hungry & homeless, 2) provide clothing for those shelters who need it & 3) a bake sale to raise money for the poor. I partook in all 3, but had the most fun putting together gift baskets for our bake sale raffle. I came upon the idea of a Paula Deen Basket because I visited her restaurant in Joliet, Il. I bought a Paula Deen shirt there on sale, found her book (great story line with lots of pictures) on ebay at a terrific price, (The ones in the restaurant were too, too expensive because they were signed), found some of her items new at a resale shop & PRESTO, "A Paula Deen Gift Basket" Because of her popularity, the basket was a huge success.Lire l'avis complet...

Fantastic Book, Fantastic Lady

We all grew up in a neighborhood that had a resident who was loved by everyone, especially the children. Paula Deen is that type of person. Her life story is an inspiration to many people who grew up without a silver spoon in their mouths. She raised her two boys during a time when women were discovering what they can achieve in life if given the opportunity. Paula made the most of the smallest opportunities she was given. Dealing with an alcoholic husband and two independant sons, she made her niche in southern cooking by treating people how she would like to be treated. The rest is history. This book is such an easy and interesting read, you might lose track of time while reading it.Lire l'avis complet...

This Book Was Great...And Alittle Eye Twinklin'

This was a great book. Paula is such the woman that makes you feel like you've been friends forever after just reading a few lines. She tells of how her life began and has become what it is today. If this woman could get to the step she's at now from what she came from, there is hope for many. I love the pictures in the middle and the recipes, YUMMMMMMM!!!! Just a note, there are a few words in here that made me jump a bit when she used them, but you're able to get over that talk as you go along. I would have never known she had that part of her in her, but with the book, you find out alot!!Lire l'avis complet...

You Gotta Try It!!!!

Well I just got through with the book I learned alot about Paula I didn't know and would have never thought of knowing or even guessing. I thought this told her story wonderfully and I just love her choice words and the way she makes them clean and funny. Ever woman in America can relate to her life in one way or another. I am very young and I still just love her and would love to meet her one day. I still can relate to her in some ways. I think if you already love Paula Deen then you will enjoy this book. Caution: You will need alot of quiet time because once you read you won't be able to put it down. Best wishes!!!Lire l'avis complet...
