One of Panasonic's best lenses, maybe even the best.

When I returned to MFT at the end of last year, the Panasonic-Leica DG Summilux 15mm f1.7 was the first prime I bought. But later, I also bought the Olympus M Zuiko 12mm f2 and M Zuiko 17mm f1.8. It didn't seem to make sense to have three lenses with their focal length so close together, so after some thought, I decided to sell the 15mm and keep the two Olympus lenses. However it didn't take long for me to realize that the PL 15mm was my most used lens, for many good reasons, and I sold the wrong lens. So I reversed my mistake by buying a new PL 15mm and selling the Olympus. I mostly shoot landscape, historic homes, and travel photos; the PL15 is excellent at all three. I particularly like the aperture ring, that works on Panasonic bodies, but not Olympus, to quickly change the aperture when needed without even having to look at the lens. The AF/MF switch is also handy for changing from AF to MF for fine tuning focus. All of the photos were taken with the Panasonic GM5, Panasonic GX9, and the Panasonic-Leica DG Summilux 15mm f1.7Lire l'avis complet...

I am very happy now

I had the Olympus 17mm f1.8 before, but I was disappointed with the soft images. Wide open or stopped down, it was a touch soft. This 15mm f1.7 is sharp even wide open! I am very happy with it, and the extra 4mm of wideness is not a problem. The only thing I wish is the aperture ring on the lens also worked on Olympus cameras.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice lens for BMPCC

Nice lens to film with on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. It has nice focus ring. It does not have manual aperture controll, but works to change aperature in camera.

Pros:
Nice colours and sharpness.
Small and light
Nice manual focus
F1.7

Cons:
Slight barrel distortion, but not noticable when filming
Lacks manual aperature control (it has but only works on Panasonic cameras and it has hard stops)

This lens will be used a lot.

1st Prime to get for M43

Excellent center sharpness wide open. Amazing bokeh throughout. Beautiful craftsmanship, matches very well with GM1 body. Auto Focusing is faster than expected and Manual Focus is buttery smooth. This is a must have for the M43 family!Lire l'avis complet...

A Prime, Prime!

This lens is absolutely a fine piece of engineering! 15mm (30mm FF Equivalent) just happens to be my favorite focal length, and this lens renders very sharp, beautiful images. Others will say it produces that Leica look. All I know is that I love the quality of build, size, feel, quick focus, bokeh, and contrast of the images I've taken. Oh, and sharp, sharp, sharp!Lire l'avis complet...

Nice wide-angle prime

The lens is sharp and sturdy, and focuses pretty fast. The only things I notice are not great - visible distortion and chromatic aberration which do not get automatically corrected on the Olympus body

Definitely A Leica Lens

The color rendition is unsurpassed. Mounted on my little GX1 Panasonic, it's just like shooting with a Leica camera of old, but at a fraction of the price.

I love that one can set the aperture manually or let the camera set the aperture.Lire l'avis complet...

First Lumix Prime and a Solid Buy

This is the first Panasonic Leica prime lens that I have purchased after already owning the 8-18, 12-60, 50-200 and 100-400 lenses.

This lens is small, very small, and pairs quite nicely with my Lumix GX-8, and should easily pair with my G-9 as well. This lens offers a aperture ring, and it works quite well thus far, covering f/1.7 to f/16. I was looking for a moderately wide prime lens as I shoot landscape, cityscape and wildlife (the later not with this lens).

The images are clean and sharp with solid color renderings in the short time I have had this lens. I had looked at the 12mm f/1.4 and this lens, and this one could be had for less than one half the price of the other lens, and is a good value for the price. If you want a walk a bout lens, pair this will a small to medium sized body and you will be good to go. I look forward to many years with this prime lens, with many fine images as we go along.

Lightweight with great features and very sharp

This lens is incredibly lightweight and reasonably compact and this lens renders very sharp, beautiful images. The manual focus ring is smooth to operate and well damped, which makes applying fine adjustments pleasurable.
