Good unit... with some issues

Let me say first of all that for a GPS mapping solution that is not a dedicated unit, this unit works pretty well. The cradle is an elegant piece of hardware that works very well and looks nice in the car. The maps are pretty accurate, considering they are two years old. Although where I live, they are about fifty yards off. I don't know if that is a problem with the accuracy of the GPS or the maps. One point of interest I selected (a movie theater) was very far off (a mile or so?), and it hasn't moved. But for the most part it is close enough.

The software does a good job of giving verbal directions without over-doing it. The speaker on the unit is easy to hear and understand, even with loud background noise.

Here are my gripes. The TomTom software causes noticeable delays in the overall operation of my Palm T5, even when I'm not using TomTom. I'm not sure the version 5 maps can even be upgraded, but the maps they have online are very pricey. I guess I will have to stick with these maps for the foreseeable future.

For the current price on eBay, this is a nice unit. I'm glad to find another use for my aging T5, even if the ability to upgrade is limited.Lire l'avis complet...
