Olympus Zuiko 10-22mm F2.8-3.5 ED lens

Whoever is reading this review knows that the Olympus digital SLR is a good system that ran obsolete due to commercial reasons. I basically love the telescopic power of the Olympus 50-200 F2.8-3.5 and the 70-300 mm lenses in the system, to complement those , the 11-22mm lens got the job done well from 22mm wide to a standard 44 mm range, and this lens is sharp and focusing very fast. For all of the above qualities and wide ranges, for the price a Fuji X100s camera, it's a steal!Lire l'avis complet...

Zuiko 11-22mm f.2.8-3.5 - Ideal first 'upgrade' lens

After a year of experience with the Zuiko "kit" lenses that came with my E-500, I am extremely pleased. The entry-level kit lenses (14-45 and 40-150mm in my case) that Olympus sells are far and away better than the Nikon/Canon equivalents in optical quality and overall construction 'solidity'. The quality of the Zuiko "kit" lenses alone should justify the purchase of an Olympus DSLR system over the competition for the vast majority of photographers, Olympus' excellent reputation for great lenses even at the low-end is well deserved.

Nevertheless, I was looking for a wider-angle lens. I looked at the Sigma 10-20mm and the Zuiko 9-18mm along with the 11-22mm Zuiko "pro-grade". I had originally leaned toward the Sigma because I thought the extra perspective at 10mm was attractive. Ultimately though I decided that 11mm would be wide enough, I liked the extra length at 22mm, the faster glass at f2.8, and in the end it was the water-resistant "splash-proof" feature that tipped me toward the 11-22mm Zuiko, as I do a lot of photography on and around the water.

After a hundred or so shots I'd say the image quality is excellent, the images are always perfectly rectilinear (lines remain straight even at the edges at 11mm), great sharpness and contrast, and the lens is relatively compact for "fast glass". The only thing I would change is to have some extra focal length -- 30mm at the long end would be ideal, but of course the lens would then have to be slower and/or heavier.

Overall, this lens is your best choice if you are looking to make that first addition to your E-system "kit" lenses, and you want to take a step up into the pro-grade class. For landscapes, skyscapes, architecture and interiors, you can't do better for the money, and wide-open at f2.8 it's great in low light.

Olympus per me significa fotografia. Buon acquisto a tutti.Lire l'avis complet...

Bright photos, low distrotion, flat images.

This lens is INCREDIBLE.
I've owned one for years, this is replacing a stolen one.

The glass quality is high grade, the photos are bright and sharp, it works well in low light AND DISTORTION, is less then the Oly 9-18 or 7-14 in the 11-14mm range. It is even better then my 14-54 High grade in the 14-22 mm range. It is nearly as bright as the Oly ZD 50 mm macro, the best Macro Olympus makes. This lens is such a joy to use on waterfalls, and TALL TALL Redwood Trees, where you can't get back very far.Lire l'avis complet...

Olympus Zuiko™ 11-22mm f.2.8-3.5 for E System

Let me start by saying that I am not a pro, I just jumped into the DSLR world a few months ago. That being said, this lens is really a must for your collection. The lens is a little pricey at about $700 with tax but it is in the Olympus mid level range. The pictures from this lens are out of this world, great color and detail. Even the limited distortion you might get at its widest settings can be used as creative or just cropped out. I have taken dozens of pictures with it already at all of its range with no bothersome distortion. For outdoor shots it's a must have, you can simply get so much more in the picture. So if you looking at it and you're undecided let me say it is worth at least giving it a try. I hope this review helped you out.Lire l'avis complet...

Great camera lens

I shot prom pics last night with this lens and it has all but paid for itself the first time out. What a great buy! I couldn't have asked for anything better. If you're in need of a great wide angle lens, the Olympus Zuiko 11-22mm is it. Great price but greater output.Lire l'avis complet...
