Nip/Tuck: The Complete First Season (2004, DVD)

I purchased the first Season of Nip/Tuck on Ebay for approximately $25. I did not see any episodes of this series prior to purchasing the first season on DVD. I decided to buy this show on a strong recommendation from a friend.

I often buy complete seasons of popular shows and watch them start to finish in a couple of days. I must say that I watched the first episode of Nip/Tuck more than a week ago and have not felt compelled to watch any of the remaining episodes. This show is not suitable for the squimish or those easily offended by adult content. This is definitely not family programming. A description from the back of the packaging follows below.

I hope you find this review useful.

Beauty, the saying goes, is only skin deep. The beauty of Nip/Tuck is that it goes deeper, laying bare the complexities and fragile natures often found in patients seeking cosmetic surgery. Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon portray hotshot Miami South Beach plastic surgeons who are themselves in full-blown midlife crises as they confront career family and romance problems. The series' cutting-edge stories range from funny to suspenseful to uncommonly powerful. The surgeries are graphically bold. The sexuality is rampant. Presented in 12 first-season episodes on 5 discs and featuring compelling extras, the highly praised Nip/Tuck is a prescription for entertainment unlike anything you've ever seen.

Hiccups

A few of the discs had some flaws, consequently missing small portions of the audio. Overall, however, I was happy with my purchase.

A perfect soul, a perfect smile, a perfect face.....a perfect lie!

Wonderful and engaging series. Everything from crazy people who want plastic surgery for
bad reasons to decent people that just want to find happiness. Watching the series is fun and revealing! The character of Christian played by Julian McMahon is incredibly sexy.Lire l'avis complet...

So i ACTUALLY STARTED WATCHING NIP/TUCK JUST THIS YEAR! I NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE. I WENT TO MY LIBRARY, GOT SEASON 1 AND INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE & ADDICTED TOO! I went back & forth to the library, if they didn't have a certain season i need i tied like 3 other library's, 1 of them being 40 min.'s away! I ENDED UP (SINCE I WAS A LITTLE ILL THAN, WHICH CAME TO ME NOW BEING EXTREMELY SICK AT HOME GETTING SURGERIES), WELL ENDED UP WATCHING SEASONS'S 1-5 IN 2 WEEKS, WAITING FOR 6 TO COME OUT, AS SOON AS IT DID ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF LATER, I WENT STRAIGHT TO WALMART AND BOUGHT IT FOR ABOUT $45. I would usually wait cuz i asked one of the library's if their getting it in and they said yes it's ordered, i put in under my name, which i was ACTUALLY the 1st name on hold for, and all i had to do is wait 1 more week and rent it free at the library. But i choose to buy it instead cuz i couldn't wait and i knew already i was GONNA COLLECT THIS SERIES FOR SURE!!..lol..well hope it helped anyone, sorry about the life story thing, but it's to explain why i never heard of it when i was in school before and when i found out about it this year i rented them and watching them addictively in 2 weeks & waiting for season 6, which i watched in 2 days..lol..:0) I RECOMMEND THIS SERIES ,*******ESPECIALLY this SEASON (1)!!1Lire l'avis complet...

First Season

This made-for-cable series is set in the flashy world of South Beach, Miami, where looking good is a full-time profession. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) are plastic surgeons. Sean is married to Julia (Joely Richardson) and has a conscience when it comes to his job, while Christian is willing to lie to get a woman into bed and onto the surgery table. Although they've been partners for years, their opposing ethical stances, as well as Christian's desire for Julia, keep the dramatic tension bristling. A Must See.Lire l'avis complet...

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW THE SURGEON'S LIVE?????

I ran into this series quite by accident. It was late Saturday night and I had just had a major surgery and couldn't sleep. Nip and tuck......OK....I just had some nips and tucks..LOL. I expected seeing some of the procedures and did not expect a series. First episode I saw was the nurse (lesbian) and well over 40 wanted a baby and needed a sperm donor. Never seeing this show and watching one of the 2 surgeons who was obviously not nice to this nurse ever.....offer to donate his sperm. Very touching. In that first hour I watched the main characters personalities unfold. I was intrigued so I watched another hour.....OK now I'm hooked! From the bazaar (ans I don't use that word loosely) to normal everyday lifes experiences I recommend this series to everyone young adult and old (I'm 48) I can't wait to see all the episodes so I have bought all 3 seasons. It's so hard to find anything worth watching anymore. Here is a well thought out plot. I know you'll love them!!!Lire l'avis complet...

Amazing Series!!

If you like shows such as House or Gray's Anatomy, you will love this show, as well! I like how the patients have recurring roles in this show instead of like in House how most of them are only on the one episode. This show is a bit "gory" compared to Gray's and House...it did not bother me, but my boyfriend gets super anxious around needles and lots of blood, and he couldn't watch this past the first episode. I can't wait to start watching the rest of the series!!Lire l'avis complet...

Wow - Nip/Tuck is a ride and its a great one

Addictively fascinating show... I watched the first season on DVD without having seen a single episode or reading / hearing anything about it - my only introduction was a simple recommendation. Within a week I had finished the season and enjoyed every minute of it.

Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) are partners at a plastic surgery practice out of South Beach Miami. And while plastic surgery is part of the show... its really just a backlay for the conflict, backstabbing, sex and other conflicts / episodes that occur within the intermingled lives of the doctors, their families, and their patients.

The mostly unknown cast is surprisingly adept and does an outstanding job portraying such a spectrum of emotions and issues. And while the characters and situations are certainly over the top - the show is compelling enough and interesting enough to keep your attention and keep you engaged. Part of that comes from fine acting, some from the great visuals (though often gory and graphic) and much from the directing. What separates Nip/Tuck from other dramatic series is its humor - albeit dark humor. Nip/Tuck is surprisingly funny and sarcastic - poking fun at the patients who 'need' such operations and the doctors who willingly (and self-motivating-ly) perform them.

Highly recommended - once you start watching, you'll quickly finish the season. If movies and television were meant to entertain - this does a fine job.

Disc One: pilot, "Mandi/Randi" and "Nanette Babcock"
Disc Two: "Sophia Lopez," "Kurt Dempsey" and "Megan O'Hara"
Disc Three: "Cliff Mantegna," "Cara Fitzgerald" and "Sophia Lopez II"
Disc Four: "Adelle Coffin," "Montana/Sassy/Justice" and "Antonia Ramos"
Disc Five: "Escobar Gallardo"

There are extras on each DVD as well

Shades of Gray, Imperfection, the perfect lie...

Nip Tuck is an amazing series. Season 1 is the best of all the seasons by far. It brings characters who are imperfect with strange but beautiful lives and makes you wonder and question what is right and good. Is there anything that truly is perfect? You may think that Christian has the perfect life but only to discover it is empty and alone...You may despise him for the actions he does but you can't help but sympathize with him and see a bit of you in him. The characters are real. They are flawed and it's all shades of gray. I completely recommend this and believe you will be addicted after the first episode. The only drawback is that you need to see the episodes in order in order to understand the storyline.Lire l'avis complet...
