Even for adults

I bought this to give me something to do while waiting for my next job at work in my truck. The list of DS titles is really expansive and lots geared towards adults (puzzle games are really addictive and DS also has began to release M rated titles like GTA) the dual screens make for easy viewing and the button layout accomadates even medium size adult has rather well. Its amazing some of the better games and how much information they can fit on a single cartridge with cut scenes and hours of storyline gameplay. It fits easily in you trvel bag and ready to play at a moments notice subway,plane,bench,long car ride you name it and they battery life is really good to 4+hours of continus game play.Overall very good and couldnt ask for more in a portable game system.Lire l'avis complet...

Great product except for 1 or 2 things

Nintendo DS Lite Review

Nintendo DS Lite is arguably the best of the DS upgrades. XL being preferred to some by its bigger size, it is in the versatility that the Lite shines. Nintendo DS Lite is the smallest out of all the DS handhelds and in effect is easier to travel with. It fits comfortably in most adult pockets or purse. The system is also the lightest in weight.

The biggest advantage the Lite has compared to the newer DSI and XL is that it includes a Gameboy Advance(GBA) slot. DSI and XL removed that slot to put in a camera. Has a result Nintendo DS Lite is compatible with older games from the GBA series. Camera may sound appealing to some, is hardly worth the removal of backward compatibility with older generation system. This particular slot is also used in various new DS games. Band Hero, Guitar Hero, and the Pokemon series come to mind. Pokemon DS series allow the importing of Pokemons from the GBA series. Band Hero use the slot to play guitar, so on.

However, even with all the benefit there is one flaw the console has that cannot be overlooked. The hinges of the dual screens are likely to break. Putting a hard casing and taking proper care of the console does help prevent that. Hard casing is almost mandatory if you wish to prevent it from breaking for a child. Nerf or Hori Brand hard casing are my recommendation however any works.

That being said, the real reason any person should consider buying a console is for the games it can play. Nintendo DS has some of the best Role Playing Game(RPG) and Puzzle games this generation. RPG like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon Series have remakes of old classics as well as new version exclusively for the DS. Puzzle games like Professor Layton, Brain Age, 9 Hours 9 Doors 9 Persons, and Phoenix Wright are among the best the DS has to offer. The system also has traditional Nintendo games like Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Zelda, and so on. There are many other great games, I merely named some because there tend to be a few people who buy the console but don't know what games to buy.

Overall, the Nintendo DS Lite is superior to the DSI and XL in that it allow the owner to play a bigger game library. DSI and XL have built in camera, if prefer that to more game options, then should consider buying those instead. The console must be treated with care or with extra protection(Hard Casing) because it does have a decent probability of breaking from the hinges if abused. Good buy

Just got back from a trip to my DS I ordered a while back. Just leaving the review now.

The product came fully charged, with charger in the box which was nice to immediately hop into playing my new game I got.

It has some scratches, but generally the appearance looks good.

The only problem I have with the product I recieved was the upper-part of the DS (screen) has seem to have lost its support. It tends to flops and won't stay stable, which isn't an issue for me because I can adapt to it, but might bother other people.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent touchscreen feature, great price value, a must for pokemon fans!!

Purchased the Nintendo DS Lite for myself as an avid gamer. The system exceeds my expectations. The screen is a lot brighter, colors more vivid than the previous Nintendo Handheld console, the Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP. The dual screen works as advertised, the touchscreen feature is spot on and accurate. The graphics are excellent for a handheld device and the frame rate rarely drops. The D-pad is solid and responsive, the controls are comfortable. The power button doubles as a reset button which is helpful.

The sound is louder and more clear then any other handheld by far. A big bonus is the ability of the Nintendo DS Lite to play Gameboy Advance Games in Slot 2, which some of the newer Nintendo DS handhelds cannot do.

This is a huge feature when the owner of the system is a Pokemon fan especially as some of the older games are required to collect all the pokemon in the national pokedex, in addition, there are many Donkey Kong Country and Mario Bros. games on the Gameboy Advance that are popular and cannot be played on the newer Nintendo DSi handhelds.

The system comes in cobalt blue & black, crimson red & black, metallic pink, silver, black, white, and many other custom colors designs. The battery life is solid and even after many hours of continuous play it holds up just fine.

I dont see any problems or complaints here. I purchased the DS Lite because I'm a huge Pokemon fan and all the latest games for the Pokemon series are on the Nintendo DS, I chose the DS Lite over the newer Nintendo DSi's simply because of the Gameboy slot to play the older Gameboy Advance games where there are some classics and some great games that the newer DSi models cannot play.

If you're a Pokemon fan or Donkey Kong Country gamer, then the DS Lite is a MUST.

I would highly recommend it to any handheld gamer hands down. I have not played or reviewed the Newest Nintendo Handheld the Nintendo 3DS but besides that system which is costly this is by far the best handheld.Lire l'avis complet...

Good system,bad battery.

My ds is perfect expect it had a bad battery but they are cheap and easy to replace.i personally feel it is a good deal.

Why To Buy A DS Lite Over A DSi...

First of all, the newer DSi's do not have the ability to play old GBA games; they've thrown out legacy support. The DS Lite does. Secondly, the DS Lite lets you easily run flash loaders like CyclonDS Evolution to play back-up copies of DS games you already own; no more lugging around all those cumbersome game cards. Slot-2 flash loaders also let you play back-up copies of GBA games you also already own. Moreover, these flash loaders let you run homebrew applications. One of the best known homebrew apps is called "MoonShell," it lets you listen to music and videos. Essentially, rendering the DSi's limited music player pointless and redundant. Thus, you can get the same functionality of the DSi, but on a DS Lite with flash loaders (they are a $50-$60 investment but are worth it...they pay themselves off after a while if you know what I mean...). The only down side to a DS Lite is that you can not take pictures like you can with a DSi. But come on people, does anyone really need that? We have other devices with that capability, it would only be redundant. I bought a DS to play games and the DS Lite does what a DSi does, maybe even better with flash loaders. Plus since it's older you will get a better deal than for the newer DSi. Read up on flash loaders then you will see my point better.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent little DS.

I could of never bought a DS better than this one. First of all it was a birthday present for m little grandson. He was never more tickled pink when he received it. NINTENDO DS LITE

The Nintendo DS Lite is the best gaming companion ever, and I love it!! The sleek lightweight size, the dual screens that are both so clear and vibrant, and not to mention how awesome the touchscreen is. It allows the user to be more involved with the games, and to me, feel much more connected and personal with the characters in the game. I never go anywhere without it, because even the least amount of downtime, you can always find something to do with your DS Lite. I bought this system not because I did not have one. I already have one, but it is just that my boyfriend keeps taking it to play, leaving me to play with nothing! So, I had to buy another one for him so I could get my DS back.
