The hardest enemy..Your camera.

I love this game. It is hard, it is challenging most of all it was everything modern gaming was doing at that time. While it was great to see my favorite NES game upgraded to the Xbox. One major problem though, the camera is horrible. You will find yourself dying due to the cameras random rotations. Random changes in verticals and horizontal movements. It is uncontrollable, sickening and in some parts produce the Ninja Gaiden rage.Lire l'avis complet...

The ultimate action adventure game

This game has it all. It's gameplay, soundtrack and graphics are amazing. The difficulty is fair and rewarding. Levels are perfectly paced and fun to navigate because of the amazing movement tech. Ninja Gaiden is the pinnacle of fun and challenge. Lire l'avis complet...

sorta disappointed.

don't get me wrong, its a great game, but the biggest opponent you'll find fighting in this game, is the camera itself:P

terrible camera.
probably THE worst camera in any 3D game.
even Red Ninja and Blood Will Tell games have a better and more manageable camera.

shinobi ps2 is way better than this.

everyone says this game is hard in difficulty, but after playing it, i can tell you....its not easy or hard, its just that the camera system sucks so bad, it makes the game more difficult than it really is.

the game's developer, Team Ninja, doesn't know how to program a good camera system. its not just NGB, its every ninja gaiden game, including sigma series.
in reality, all Ryo needs is a lock-on button, like in shinobi...and 80% of the game's camera problems would've been instantly fixed.

in the end.

Holds up super well in 2023

Amazing character action game. Some old quality of life stuff that takes getting used to like no quick saves, using items and swapping weapons always requires you to open the inventory menu.

Otherwise 10/10 the gameplay, visuals and music aged very well. I was hooked playing in 2023. Lire l'avis complet...

Ninja Gaiden Vanilla plus Ninja Gaiden Black (included most of Hurricane Pack add-ons)

Nostalgia and love of all things ninja's and hack and slash games in general ASIDE ;; Ninja Gaiden, especially its superior "director's cut" version NG (Black) is a super solid game that I always come back to, always try to improve upon and always Always recommend to people who are hardcore gamer types that may not have played it for whatever reason, or just og Xbox enthusiasts looking for a couple of on the edge of your seat hours of (yes) frustration and possible control throwing episodes, but imo its all worth it for that eventual Ninja Swag as you maneuver harder levels of difficulty, and possibly even master ninja status.Lire l'avis complet...

THE ONLY FIGHTING GAME WORTH PLAYING

Hard and tough and then it gets Harder and Tougher. Not an easy game to play, but so much fun. Graphics and Sound are super. This is an expanded version of the first Ninja Gaiden. It contains gameplay material previously available only as Xbox Live downloads, The Hurricane Packs. With 16 levels of Fighting and Magic, Monsters and Samurai, Ninja Gaiden Black will keep you entertained for a long time. You will play as Ryu Hayabusa Master Ninja, and his Village and clan have been wiped out by Fiends, Demons led by the evil Vigoor. Every Boss is difficult and the game taunts you if you don't succeed. It makes you play as Ninja Dog if you can't beat the first Boss. Ninja Dog is Easy mode with Ryu wearing a pink ribbon, but you won't want to play with a pink ribbon on your arm. Ryu is a Badass! There are so many cool moves and so many powerful weapons. Just remember to Block! It also has five difficulty settings from Ninja Dog to Very Difficult Ninja Master. Expect to fight the Bosses over and over again until you see the patterns and when you're stuck, a Strategy Guide helps. But if you're not fast enough with your combos, there is no tip that will help. You can unlock the early arcade version of Ninja Gaiden if you play on an older Xbox. Unfortunately, this unlockable doesn't work on the newer X360. Remember to have a punching bag nearby just in case.Lire l'avis complet...

Ninja Giaden Black - A true classic reborn.

NGB for the XBOX is a great game for anyone who enjoys a decent fighter/adventure, its got both elements. You have many options for weapons, upgrading them and adapting your own play style. It is a tough game but very entertaining, puzzles to unlock doors/areas, learning to run along walls, insane jumps, maniac combo attacks, brutal boss fights, fast paced game play, decent story line and exciting cut scenes all come together well for a good game. It does have some flaws, this one includes expansions on the oringnal and you can see there are a few minor inconsistancies in the story line being explained but the good part is : It added serious play time to the game and made it more entertaining overall with new weapons, enemies, areas and plot line. The game is normally no more than 15-25 for the used black lable. So I believe its worth buying for any XBOX owner.Lire l'avis complet...

Ninja Gaiden Black

Ninja Gaiden black is one of the best games on the original Xbox. It is a 3rd person action game that resembles old school "beat'em up" games like Final Fight or Streets of Rage. The graphics are beyond belief and the game is very difficult at times, but overall it is really fun to play and the battle engine has great depth.

There are 5 difficulty modes, each one providing a whole new game since the item locations and enemy types change (quite drastically too and in some cases the AI changes). The game is pretty violent, but how can it not be when you are wielding swords and such battling fiends and other sword wielding ninjas. It isn't particularly excessive but if you don't have the stomach for it, check out some videos of gameplay before purchasing for a better view.

If you like action games like Devil May Cry or God of War, this will most likely be one of your favorites. In my opinion its superior to Ninja Gaiden 2 since for its time this game was incredible while the second one seems mediocre for its time but both are excellent action games. The story is pretty pathetic and non-sensical but the gameplay and graphics are incredible which led me and most others to buy it. If you do purchase and play this on your first play through I would recommend you use a strategy guide, I unfortunately didn't but had I used one I would have had fewer frustrations. The game manual provided is very uninformative and didn't help with the difficulty issues.

Truly, One Of The Best

Remarkably enough, the best just got better with Ninja Gaiden Black, an updated version of the already amazing Xbox action game. This new installment seems bent on achieving nothing less than perfection by using the old game as a starting point and fine-tuning its few issues, while also adding lots of new options and content, such as a lengthy series of stand-alone missions that emphasize the game's unbelievably intense, brutal, lighting-fast combat.

The mission mode is a great new part of Ninja Gaiden Black, since it strips away the game's action adventure elements and focuses on pure combat--truly the best part of the game. The missions tend to be variations on scenes from the story mode but will often pit you against more and different enemies than you're used to.

The story isn't that great (though a few new cutscenes in Black help move it along), and the pacing of some of Ryu's adventures is a little off. This is a lengthy game that will take a good 20 hours your first time through, and it features a considerable amount of variety.

It is an extremely good-looking game. It's easily one of the best looking Xbox games, and by extension, it's one of the best-looking games ever. The game sounds wonderful, too. The sounds of combat in Ninja Gaiden are terrific, especially Ryu's ferocious battle cries and the anime-style sound of steel cleaving flesh. Sure enough, the game features a fantastic soundtrack too, with unique music for all the different chapters and many of the boss battles.

Though this is essentially the same game as before, a laserlike focus on pure, relentless action makes Ninja Gaiden Black a terrific game in its own right. The result is that this is perfect for quick hits of fantastic, pulse-pounding gameplay. But of course, there's the full story mode there too.
