Nikon D7000 still brings it!

In interest in getting my first dslr camera, I chose the Nikon D7000. Originally, I learned on a Pentax P3N SLR. It was fun!
However, since I have been using digital video cams .. it made sense to try out the Nikon D7000. So far, I am impressed by all the bells and whistles a dslr can offer. I’m excited to learn on the Nikon but believe it’s going to be awhile before it becomes second nature to operate .Glad to own the Nikon D7000.Lire l'avis complet...

A real gem

This is a superb machine that gives excellent image quality. It has advanced features that you don't have to use when you first shoot. You can keep things simple and get fine results. The AF is quick and fast, and even the high ISOs yield quality images. The AE is dead on.

My only complaint is that the option wheel on the upper back is badly positioned and too easily turned. I constantly bump into it with my thumb and change the settings. I will have to put tape over it. I find it hard to figure out the uses of the multiple and changeable AF points, but I'll slowly learn. I didn't learn on my last Nikon, either.

I'm unlikely to use the movie mode, but it could be useful for some shooters. It is very sophisticated for a camera of this price and would require study and practice.

You will need time to learn all the possibilities of the D7000, but if you've used a Nikon digicam before, you will learn quickly. And the results will greatly please you.

Nikon D7000 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - body only... Nice!!!

The Nikon D7000 is a really nice pro-sumer DSLR. Even though it is not a full-frame camera it takes really great pictures. With the right lens selection you can take fantastic shots in low light situations without a flash.

What I like most is the ability to fine-tune your Auto-Focus in the camera from lens to lens. The camera retains this tuning adjustment (to the millimeter), in memory for each lens you have fine-tuned. Right now I have a 35mm f/1.8 prime lens and a 18-50mm f/2.8 zoom lens. Both are tack-sharp without any back or forward focusing issues.

Video capable, stop-action and time-lapse photography are all there in the Nikon D7000, plus a lot, lot more. As a retail product catalog photographer that uses a full-frame DSLR, I find the Nikon D7000 absolutely perfect for personal day-to-day usage. My wife also enjoys being able to learn more about photography on the Nikon D7000 camera than her point and shoot fixed lens camera. She is learning about bokah and manual settings for timed exposures :) Of course you can set the Nikon D7000 for auto, program, aperture or shutter priority if you have too.

I did buy this as a factory refurb, and I am glad I did. If there were any issues with this unit, they have been resolved and everything appears to work as "new", or better. Yes, the image counter didn't have "that first shot" made by me, but who cares when you're saving a few hundred dollars in the process?!

Would I buy this again? Would I recommend this to a friend? Would I lend this to a friend? Yes. Yes. And No. My camera. Go get your own!

A best buy of a semi pro Nikon DX Camera.

A best buy for a semi Pro Nikon DX Body. Excellent everything. 16.2 Megapixels is good enough for 2 by 3 foot Prints. Rugged, a Water resistant Camera good for 150,000 exposures.

Great pro-sumer camera

Good dynamic range and has a "feeler" that allows older Ai and Ais lenses to couple with meter on aperture priority or manual settings

Outstanding camera! Great value for the price.

I recently purchased this Nikon D7000 to replace an older digital camera that didn't have as many pixels. We chose the Nikon because we have a film Nikon SLR and the other lenses will intercange. The camera is a little heavy especially after adding the additional battery pack, but is quite comfortable to hold and operate. It takes wonderful pictures and is relatively easy to use. It has so many features that we are still investigating. I would highly recommend this camera to the non professional camera bug who wants high quality pictures. Do some research and choose your lens based on your shot types and I would highly recommend a Nikkor lens.Lire l'avis complet...

A great camera and my camera of choice for travel etc.

I'm an advanced amateur photographer and I shoot both the D800 and the D7000 - the 7000 was to be my back-up camera , but It's my camera of choice because it's lighter than the D800 and I find that the RAW images are every bit as sharp as the D800. The class10 SD cards that the camera uses (2) 1 as primary RAW and the secondary as either an overflow or a jPEG backup. The cards are inexpensive and easy to carry on photographic assignments and vacations. I've added a battery holder to the camera and I find the OEM just as good as the more expensive Nikon Brand. I shoot a lot of travel, landscapes in HDR- which my National Geographic friend abhors since Nat Geo doesn't buy HDR work- but he has admitted that many of the shots are outstanding. The D7000 has outstanding resolution and also features in camera editing if you so desire. I use a MAC with Aperture to make my adjustments. I use a Sigma 10-20 for my wide angle shots. There is absolutely nothing that this camera can't do and I'm thrilled with it. ArtProLire l'avis complet...

Buy it. You won't regret it.

I've been taking pictures since I can remember myself, if it's with a Film in the 90's or Polaroid, or the Camera phones I had in the last few years. But I always wanted to "Go pro" and start shooting those amazing quality pictures you all probably see everyday in the news or on the Internet.

I chose the D7000 as my first professional camera because the D90 (which is awesome), is too out-dated and this one is Fresh and Inexpensive. The D7000 is not the cheapest camera you can buy, but after reading many many reviews and doing quite a big research, I came to the conclusion that I will not settle for less.

This camera has Many Many of the brilliant pro features you will find on a much more expensive camera. The technology is unbelievable, and the quality of the pictures is outstanding!, I do not think there is a better camera that you will get for this ones price, and why settle for less, when you can have a tool that will serve you for years.

I have it for a few months now, and I've used a few lenses, and many different shooting techniques and equipment. This camera kept surprising me with it's features, it simply has everything on the tip of your fingers, it's easy to change: Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO, White balance, Auto Focus setting and many more, with the quick-buttons you have preset on it's body.

It's a little bit heavy, but not too heavy. The weight keeps the camera more balanced in your hands. Even the front built-in Flash is quite alright, and you can take a decent photo with it (something you don't really get in every camera). It has a built-in Focus engine, which is very very important if you want to use manual or old lenses.

I have to thank Nikon for being brilliant and I thank myself for taking this step into the Pro world of photography.

Good luck.

Thought about picking up more than one.

I purchased a Nikon D300S in 2009. I have used it for a few weddings and other freelance jobs. I wanted a backup, bought a D7000 in 2011. Body was around $1200. I have not really used the D300S since. Even though the D7000 is less of a "pro" camera than the 300S, it is far easier to use, and actually better for low light. When I saw the body was down to less than $500, I jumped on a spare. I realize cameras have improved noticeably since 2011, and the $6,000 D5 is something I would love, but for what I do, and who I shoot for, the D7000 is more than enough camera. I have wonderful sports actions shots, scenic, wedding, close up, and just casual portraits, that a tenfold increase in price would possibly give a noticeable improvement to a very trained eye, but for an all around beginner to serious amateur shooter, this is a huge bargain. (Only one thing I don't like. Sensor gets dirty very easy from changing lenses.)Lire l'avis complet...

Another great user-friendly Nikon!

Have had several Nikon DSLRs and never disappointed in the ease of use, allowing the photographer to focus on fleeting subjects rather than menus. Super quiet, great image quality, easy use, great battery life, solid, etc. The 7000 is another great and handy Nikon that will hold it's own at far less expense. You will not go wrong here.Lire l'avis complet...
