This TC-20E III is outstanding when used properly with right lens & body!!

Folks,

I use this TC-20 with my Nikkor AF-S 200mm F2 VR "CHUBBY STUBBY" AND THAT TC-20 CONVERTS IT TO ONE FAST 400mm lens when used with my D700 body for reaching out and touching somebody. I have used it for football, basketball and water polo with outstanding stop action results. Would not use this with anything higher than a f2.8 pro lens. It truly is well built and does an excellent job for me, I am very pleased with the results. Remember, to use a mono pod because this combo hand held takes a gorilla to hold up all day. Plus, I also have my AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 VR zoomer mounted on my D800 hanging on a sling around my neck for when the play action comes in close. These two heavies together are a real workout for an ole 70 year young Photog but I am still vertical and loving it!

IT IS SUPERB

I do photo as long as I remember myself. I started at age 6, using my father's Leica Film camera. I can say about this teleconverter - IT IS SUPERB. Especially for my Nikon Nikkor 400mm F/2.8 VRII Lens. Nice combo. Why to buy 500mm f/4.0 or 600mm f/4.0 If I have identical quality with 400mm f/2.8?

800mm F/5.6 by tiny margin better than 400mm with x2 teleconverter. You will notice it only, if U will do "pixel peeping" and count every pixel. For any commercial work or for hobby, it is not noticable. Sometimes I can't tell which photo was made by my 400mm with x2 ex-teleconverter, and which with 800mm lens. Only EXIF data helps :-)

Good, not as sharp as prime lens

I've seen people claim that using this 2x extender yields results as good as photographing with a 600mm native lens. That's a bit of an exaggeration. However, the results of a current production Nikon 300mm f2.8 in combination with a TC-20EIII are certainly good, especially if you can work at f4 or f5.6.

Be Aware, Be Very Aware.

I’m using this TC-20E III between a Nikon D3X
and a Nikkor 200 - 500mm F5.6. The WEIGHT factors of these combined elements needs SERIOUS consideration. Avoid suspending the camera or lens from a single mounting on a tripod. Or you may inadvertently engage in destructive testing of your $500. TC-20E III TeleConverter. The above mentioned rig weighs eight and one half pounds, (8.5 lbs). Better check if your tripod can handle the weight BEFORE assembly.Lire l'avis complet...

Nikon Hits Home Run

I use this on a 70-200mm VR and 400mm AI-S f/2.8 lenses. The teleconverter gives me a very lightweight portable 400mm lens. The autofocus is hampered due to its f/5.6 effective maximum aperture. For static shots, or if a professional body is used, the autofocus works very well even in minimal lighting conditions. The autofocus problems do not effect my manual focus lenses and the increased resolution and reach are nothing short of incredible. Nikon hit a home run with this 3rd generation teleconverter.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent Teleconverter

I rented the Version 2 of this several years ago on a trip to Gatlinburg along with a 70-200. The combo was pretty amazing for wildlife. These things retail for $500 and while it was a fun combo to rent for a week, I was never sure how much I'd use it. Well fast forward to recently, and I had a little disposable income. It also aligned with a 15% off Ebay sale. So combining used prices and the coupon, I was able to get Version 3 of this for $297 which was a lot better in my scenario than $500. Ordered it Friday and it arrived on Monday from California. Stuck it on my 70-200 and went outside and it's sharp with good clarity and contrast. Love it! Maybe I'll use it more now that I own it! Versatility for your Fast Lens

Only get this item for you already have a Fast Lens (2.8). You lose 2 stop of light, but if you are shooting outdoors with good light and you need some reach. This is a good choice. Save a lot of $$$$ and makes your 70-200 very versatile.Lire l'avis complet...

Cheap way to get to 400mm

I’ve been using this with my 70-200 2.8 and have been pretty happy so far. You’ll lose a couple of stops of light but the results are still great.

Excellent Macro Lens

Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 is a well known great sharp Macro lens. It works well using an FTZ adapter on the new Nikon Z50, Z6, and Z7.
