Good game, but not as good as the others.

This game is actually a step up for Need For Speed, but it good have been better.
The gameplay is alright, its not as fun as Hot Pursuit 2/Underground series, Most Wanted/Carbon but its still a 6 or 7 out of 10 in that category. With all those games you want to play so badly but with this game you just want to finish it. I still think its fun, when the story-line is there. The story-line gets better as you get further into the game. The story line would probably around an 8. Its stupid, but pretty cool, as you become friends with street racers, gangs, and smugglers. You then have to take them down, by ramming into their car a few times, and then it automatically arrests them. The jobs are great, and have a challenge to them that no game has. You steal a McLaren F1, a Bugatti Veyron, and are framed for killing someone, making every cop chase you. The cops are much harder then Most Wanted and Carbon, and just around 5 cops will trigger an SUV or a State Pursuit vehicle chasing after you. The car list is amazing with Lotus Elise to Audi TT to Chevy Camaro to Mercedes McLaren to Aston Martin to Pagani Zonda. The game has a realistic push to it, in car physics but is unrealistic other wise. You can drive a Chevy Camaro and beat Pagani Zondas.
The car list would get an 8 out of 10. Realism is probably a 7 out of 10, because they tried. This game is great if you have free time and want a racing game but I actually would not have mind getting a different game. The games great, but I feel otherwise. Get it if you think you need it. But really, this game has an unfinished touch that I wish wasn't there.

Live action cut scenes a standard for NFS games

Need for Speed: Undercover is a very straightforward racing game. The controls are very simple and if you can do one race, you can do all of them. It takes some time to complete all of the races and to dominate the ones you need to, however, which is why the difficulty is a 4/10 and not lower.

Introduction:

Need for Speed: Undercover is somewhat a sandbox game, but first you need to complete the career. As a result, only one career playthrough is needed, there are no missable achievements, and you can redo races as many times as you wish. 187 offline races plus 119 online races can get tiring and somewhat tedious at times, so just keep at it and go for 1000!

Overview:

-Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10
-Offline: 41
-Online: 9
-Approximate amount of time to 1000: 20-30 hours
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1
-Number of missable achievements: None!
-Glitched achievements: No
-Do cheat codes disable achievements? Cheats do not appear to disable achievements.
-Does difficulty affect achievements? No.

Great game, hindered by framerate

This game doesn't change the formula of a typical racing game but is fun regardless. The car selection includes basically every mainstream production sports car currently available(with the exception of Ferrari which is reluctant to allow games to feature their cars). The story is a bit cheesy but that seems to be standard in non-simulation racing games. The one major flaw in this game is the frame rate. I'm not even a picky person but the frame rate is seriously abysmal. Your environment goes by in what appears to be a 200 mile an hour slide show and I've even crashed a few times as a result of it. If you enjoy racing games, exotic cars, and can deal with a sub-standard frame rate, this game is for you.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Game for Single Player or Online Play!

Well, I want to start off by sayin gthat I got a great deal on the game. Only paid $40 for it brand new here on Ebay. The game looks great and graphics look very realistic. I was dispointed in one thing tho... It is only a Sinle Player game! It doesnt have an arcae mode for 2 players to race like all the other Need for Speed games. I loved being able to buy and customize my own cars and later on race my husband to see whos car nad skills were better/fastest! lol Would make a great game for someone who likes to play these games alone or likes to play online where u can race other poeple. Overall, I gave the game 4 stars out of 5 because of that.Lire l'avis complet...

Good but there is better

The NFS franchise has always had its ups and downs. I enjoyed this game and completed it within a week. If you liked Carbon, you will like Undercover. This is also and improvement over there last one, Pro Street. For the most part graphics were good. I didnt like the changes to the way you can customize the looks of your cars. I did like the fast upgrade feature for permormance and handling though.
The xbox did have some loading problems with this game. Not only was is quite slow in loading races, it was aslo slow just in showing the cars in the garage or showroom. As you scroll you would have to wait for a bit each time before the car image would apear.

Overall ... good game, I enjoyed it and probly will play it through again soon.
I have yet to check out the online capability, so have no comments on that yet.

Good Idea, poor execution.

This game comes on the heels of Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Carbon and Shift titles and reverts back to the street-racing roots of the NFS games.

The plot is of an undercover cop infiltrating a crime web of car thieves/exporters. The storyline sounded straight out of a movie franchise.

Unfortunately though the storyline isn't very deep, the cut-scenes short with little character development or feeling of interaction. The 'career' mode felf very impersonal and was mostly selecting races/events, rinse, repeat.

If you're looking for a NFS game with good action AND story to boot, you're still going to be reaching back to 2005. NFS: Carbon is a strong effort in that regard as well, but the recent games are sorely lacking.

NOT THE BEST OF THE SERIES

Need for Speed: Undercover. Mediocre racing and tacky styling leave it stuck in neutral, gunning its engine while going absolutely nowhere. While a long campaign mode and intriguing new experience system get the pistons pumping, everything grinds to a halt when the rubber hits the road in the newest installment of the series.

If you haven’t played a NFS game in the past four years, Undercover is a decent option if you want to rekindle your love affair with the stalwart series. NFS of old was about hot cars, hot pursuits and miles and miles of open road, and Undercover make a semi-successful fist of recapturing some of this magic. Looks great, plays fine. There’s no getting around the fact, however, that Undercover is basically Most Wanted with a new lick of paint.

ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES OF ALL TIME, PERIOD!

To say that Need For Speed Undercover is one of the greatest racing games of all time is a gross understatement. It has to be one of the most stunning and amazing games of all time. This game gets everything right, and it continues in the footsteps of Most Wanted. Now, I thought for a long time Most Wanted was the best game of the series, as Carbon and the Undergrounds were men and Peostreet was just a smoldering piece of.... Yeah, you get the idea. But Undercover pulled EVERYTHING that was best out of all the Need for Speeds and incorporated it all into the game. From the amazing open world design from the Undergrounds to the realistic physics of Prostreet, the game just truly feels like a Need for Speed mosaic. The first thing that has seen a major overhaul is the story. I won't give too much away, but let me tell you that it is well-crafted. The full-motion cutscenes are also quite good, and take you into the world of illegal racing. The next thing that shines about Undercover is it's MASSIVE open world. Let me tell you, I'm almost done with the game, and I still haven't explored everything. Yeah, it's that big. It's so big that you'll be constantly wowed by the detail in the world. The next amazing thing is the crafty Heroic Driving Engine. Let me tell you that THIS KEY FEATURE makes the game. The engine allows to pull off amazing drifts and maneuvers, and is amazing. It adds to the overall game experience. Finally the cops. The cop AI is beastly. I mean, beastly! I remember my first time I faced cops on the lowest heat that it would be a waltz in the park, and next thing you know I'm busted! They will push your driving skills especially during the later heats.

I can't give any higher recommendation to Need For Speed Undercover. For those looking to extend the Need For Speed experience, prepared for a much needed refinement of the Most Wanted experience. The gameplay and story is solid, the driving is rewarding, and the online modes are fun and lag free. This is one of the best racing games I've seen in three years: go pick it up, you will not be disappointed.

Best Street Racing Game

Despite IGN's tasteless review given to NFS Undercover, which is a 6.7 out of 10.0, this is one of the most well designed version of the Need For Speed Series. It does not only include the usual dramatic story lines and the usual NFS girls, it also involved the new crashing design, which NFS games lacks up until Pro Street, and the police chase action pack from NFS Most Wanted and NFS Carbon. It is simply the combination of all the pros from the NFS series. Every new NFS games bring a new type of race, and what Undercover brings is the highway battle where you race a car through extensive highway system and pass all the traffics to get to ahead. Traffic will be packed during the highway battle, unlike the empty streets during free roam. Cars include American muscles (include Concept Camaro), European Exotics and Japanese Tuners. The game gets more and more difficult as player move to new town in the world. The only bda thing about Undercover is that even though events occurs in the early morning in the city or in the late afternoon in rural towns, which makes sense for the small traffic, the 24-hour sunny day just doesn't seem to make sense. Overall, I give it a 8.9/10.0.Lire l'avis complet...
