Navigon 7100 GPS, Good or Bad?

The display is crisp and clear, the free traffic is great. Warning, it does not just warn of that which is in your route but when it is in your route it will reroute you after you choose to accept or deny.

the menus are easy enough and take a trial or two to get used to. I use mine on the motorcyclse, cars and amusing children on the plane by simply tracking altitude, speed and directions. I have read 612 mph at 42,000 ft.

The window mount annoys some persons but i have found it a convenient place to mount my Valentine One Radr and is works conveniently for all my vehciles even when used on the side windows rather than the front. The 7100 and 7200 will have more POI's and that is good. I had the TOM TOM 330 and found multiple freeway exits that were 30 years old not in its data base. They did have a feature to allow you to update TOM TOM. Navigon has had every one I run across.

The battery life is a few hours on day settings and much longer on nite. The stylus is fine or the finger, more uses than expressing displeasure.

The aquisition time when used where it was turned of is quick, take it a few hundred miles or a thousand away and it can take a minute to find itself but don't they all?

0-612 mph, sea level or less to 42,000 ft, not bad at all.

Great GPS for the price

Bought a reconditioned unit and I'm very surprised with the results. I read all the previous reviews and was a little skeptical but I live in Atlanta and was really looking for the free traffic alerts. I had a TomTom and was happy with it until the traffic ready input came apart ( plus the yearly fee ) I decided to try this Unit. After initial charge the unit picked up a signal within 30 seconds inside the house that was a lot faster the the TomTom. The setup, input of destinations and general menus where quite easy to maneuver through with a little thought. The touch screen is a little slow but you can adjust the sensitivity. The screen does get cluttered but again that can also be changed. I also found that the POI's where very accurate ( I.E. Resturants,Gas stations and the like.) It DOES not come with a full owners manual but it can downloaded from the Navigon site. Overall with the price and free traffic alerts it's make a great GPS for the moderate user.Lire l'avis complet...

Better and bigger than the 2100, but same voice.

I bought this to upgrade my Navigon 2100. It is basically the same as the 2100 as far as software and the text-to-speech voice. The same pronunciation problems are on the 7100. But the 7100 is bigger and the screen size makes a difference, I also like the window mount a lot better than the one that came with the 2100. The touch screen is not good at all unless you use your fingernail or the stylus (but in a world with iPhones, that is not a fair comparison.) The device does seem quicker than the 2100 and I just love the way the Navigon does GPS versus any of those other companies. That is why I bought this second hand versus spending the same cash on a new one. I would recommend this to anyone who like the Navigon software. Also do yourself a favor if you live in a city with high housing developments and buy the FreshMaps service for $50. The updated maps are worth it if you have a job that requires a lot of driving like mine.Lire l'avis complet...

navigon

It is a good product even for a refurbished unit. It has a few bonus features thaat are important to me. The first is the stylus located on the device instead of in the pouch which is a pain with my old unit. The second is the handsfree bluetooth capabilities for my cell phone. It lets me use the navigon as a phone along with the headset jack for my Koss headset which i need due to my hearing imparement. So in actuality it is the perfect product for me. The reason I only give it a good rating is that the touch screen sometimes needs a little extra effort to get it to work. The maps, like all GPS that I have used is about 3 years behind. But I can work around that. Don't hesitate to purchase one if you have the chance.Lire l'avis complet...

Navigon 7100 Car GPS Receiver

It's really a good GPS at reasonable price. The positive features are Reality view and live FREE traffic. The only negative point I think is that the GPS takes comparatively long time to recalculate alternate route. I have used other GPS systems and if you miss your way, the alternate route is calculate in no time. SO that you can take that route immediately. Howver, for Navigon 7100 it takes so long that even you miss to take alternate route by the time it gives you that route. Otherwise, pricewise and featurewise this is good GPS system.Lire l'avis complet...

Navigon 7100

The Navigon 7100 seems to be simply an upgrade in size from the smaller 2100. I actually found my old 2100 screen response much better than the 7100. Unless you use the stylus, operating the 7100 is not as easy as the other unit.
Other than the Bluetooth and some more points of interest, the units will give you similar functionality.
Having said that, I received similar route instructions when having the unit side to side with a high end Nuvi unit (Neither of them the ideal route)so as far as I am concerned, this is a sleek nice unit and a great investment for the money

7100 Car Gps Receiver

I bought this for my husband because with his job, he travels a lot which includes driving; not just flying. He (and I) were so excited to check this gps out. It does soo many different things that our old one did not! It watches your speed for you and will begin to flash if you're going too fast. The screen is huge and it shows a picture almost like a television when you're on an interstate highway. Plus it will let you nkow what the speed limit is on a highway (I wish it did that on every road but it doesnt)

I could be wrong but my husband and I are wondering if they stopped making this particular gps since we can't find it anywhere in any stores? We can find it on-line, but not in any actualy stores. The battery doesn't work too well since the unit won't stay on for more than an hour or so without it being plugged in. Once in awhile it shuts off on it's own and there's nothing you can do to turn it back on until it's ready too. I'm afraid one of these days it won't turn back on at all. The 1st time it happened we didn't know it would eventually turn back on so we freaked out a little!?!
All in all it's a pretty neat and safisticated device! Our only complaints are the battery, the fact that it shuts down once in awhile, and if they stopped making them, I'd like to know why?

Navigon 7100 Car GPS Receiver

I bought this product for all of its features. Overall I love the product, It does pronounce street names in ways that make them dificult to recognize.(Rosedale is pronounced [Ross a dolly]),(Chapin is pronounced [Choppin]). And sometimes takes you to a destination in a roundabout way. But if you take it in a more direct route, it will learn and rememberfor the next trip there. As long as you have the correct address, it will certainly get you there. It achieves what I bought it for. So I am happy with it, and I recomend it anyone seeking to get away from reading maps and driving at the same time.Lire l'avis complet...

Navigon 7100 gps navigator car gps reciever

I decided to go with the Navigon instead of a Garmin and Tomtom because of the free traffic updates forever. never a penny for live traffic where as with the others you have to pay a monthly fee in order to have the feature. It also has a very "real life" view. shows the road just as it looks!
I dislike that the maps aren't all that accurate but ofcourse there is always new construction in the Houston area. I also had to purchase a better antenna but other than that I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Top of the line features for a budget price.

Very nice GPS unit equiped with many useful features. This is my second Navagon GPS unit and I'm enjoying the extras including intergrated Bluetooth speaker phone which is nice for hands free driving. The traffic alerts come in handy for letting you know in advance the latest traffic and construction information that updates in real time. The large 4.3 inch widescreen with 2-D and 3-D maps is easy to see in bright sunshine and the nighttime setting cuts glare at night. The touch screen is a bit quarky with your finger but works great with the included stylit which stores in the back of the unit. The Speaker and intergrated speaker phone is clear and destortion free and can be heard clearly at Highway speeds with the windows down. The user selectable speed alert is a nice feature informing you when your speeding. The Navagon maps are very accurate and the points of interest icons help make finding food and fule a snap. Over-all I give the Navagon 7100 a 10 out of 10 for GPS units in this price range. This is my second refurbished Navagon unit and both have been trouble free and my Navagon 2200 is almost 2 year old and gets used dailyLire l'avis complet...
