Cup Crazy!

I like hockey.

No, I really like hockey.

It's a little scary. Especially when the rinks aren't flooded, and I don't get to skate. That's when I have to sit down and play vicariously through a bunch of little pixelated representations of my favorite NHL players. Luckily, NHL 2k7 is a heck of a game, packed with great Old-Time Hockey unlockables, and driven by an intuitive control scheme.

I've played pretty much every hockey game on every console system and arcade machine since the dawn of Blades of Steel, and I assure you that NHL 2k7 is among the top titles ever released. The graphics are nice, with lovely ice (something many titles have screwed up) that reflects the lights and shines with tones of blue, gray, and black underneath. The skaters look nice and move well, though there have been some complaints about their close-ups during cut-scenes (also the crowd looks a bit zombie-like, but who cares, I say!).

What really matters is the gameplay and the online play. The game play in this edition is near perfect. The only legitimate beefs I've heard is that one-timers are overbalanced, allowing for the inevitable "scoring tricks" that have plagued every game since NHL '93 on the Sega Genesis. Related to this is the fact that it is extremely difficult to score with a slapshot from the blue, or even a wrister from the hashmarks, unless the opposing goalie has allowed a weird rebound. Wrap-around goals seem about right, being moderatly easy with a fast skater (especially if you get the goalie screened properly), and pretty darn tough for a slower guy.

Online play is where 2k7 kills the competition (specifically NHL '07 by EA Sports). Games, tournaments, entire seasons can be played online, with an easy to navigate online menu where you can find leaderboards, news, and game updates (so far, they've provided four NHL roster updates as the season progresses).

My verdict: this game has its flaws - I've yet to play a perfect (or even truly innovative) hockey title, though this one comes closest in a while - but of the hockey games released in the last few years, this one is by far the best choice.

Good game, I don't watch Hockey but I like to play it.

This is a great multiplayer game.
The fights are pretty lame, but it is alot of fun.
My hand hurts so bad after just one game when competing w/ my friends.

For $7 bucks shipped it was a great deal.
Why pay $59 for NHL 08 when it never really improves or changes much from the last year, so $7 or $8 bucks for NHL 07 was a good deal..

Not a fan of the sport but a fan of the game

I've lost interest in the NHL since the lockout but still enjoy it as a video game. NHL 2K7 did nothing to discourage that enthusiasm. It is a game that is well presented and has load of features. It plays equally well against human players or the computer and the minigames provide something of a sports "Fusion Frenzy."

Overall this game is highly recommended even for those of us who don't actively follow the NHL.Lire l'avis complet...

this is a great game to buy the 2k series has done it again with all the new features and great hd next gen game is worth the money to buy

GREAT HOCKEY GAME

In my opinion this is the best hockey game for any console to date. I think the graphics are way better than last years and the game play is way more solid than EA's hockey games. Greatest Game!! Even a preacher loves it.

I honestly think this is the Greatest Sports Game I have ever played. My friends and I get together and play Hockey on our XBOX Nights. We have so much fun and it is action packed. The funny thing is that I am not even a hockey fan and one of my fellow Pastor friends turned me onto it. Now I am startying to go to real hockey games. A GOOD GAME
