NBA JAM FOR THE SNES

NBA Jam for the Super Nintendo... Wow. This game is so over the top it's great. This game was so much fun. Me and my cousin used to play this game every time I was over at his house. The graphics are a little dated, sure, but once again, as I say in a lot of these reviews for retro games, for the time it was amazing. Also, you have the monster dunks and the punching and all the crazy antics that go along with it like alley oops and around the back passes. The announcer is a great touch as well. He says hilarious things that will have you laughing. It's kind of like that "whoopty" guy in Mortal Kombat...that kind of humor anyway... sayings like "slamlamadingdong" and "Jamtastic" or at least things along those lines. And then of course after getting three baskets in a row, HE'S ON FIRE! This is probably the coolest thing about this game. I won't say you will never miss, but it's damn near impossible, as long as you don't take half to full court shots when you're on fire. Basically EVERYTHING goes down. Whenever I was playing someone that was on fire I'd always goal tend them. It's in your best interest, you'll give up 3 but save a lot more by doing so, assuming that your next trip down the court on offense you can score, which is harder to do against an opponent that's on fire by the way. You can play through the game and try defeating all of the NBA teams, but this game is really made for the two player experience. The only game that was like this one before it to the best of my knowledge was Arch Rivals for the NES and that is just in format. You could hit other players and it was set up as 2 on 2, but other than that it's not even close. The control style is so much better and it actually features real NBA teams and players of the time. It was also cool that when you went for a steal your arms waving back and forth would make a ninja swiping sound. I do also remember in this series you could play with hot spots. Now I'm not sure that it was in this game, it might have been in NBA JAM T.E. (Tournament Edition) for the same system that they started the hot spots, but nonetheless that was cool too. Games that are similar to this game with slightly better graphicsa are NBA Hangtime for the N64 and NBA Street for the Gamecube (the latter title was probably out for other systems as well). This particular title along with NBA Jam Tournament Edition could be played on the Sega Genesis as well. This game is great, and I recommend it to anyone that isn't a graphics snob. It's classic and for me I have a lot of good memories of it. Please note that I only gave this game 3 stars because, well, you can't exactly expect this title to get 5 stars if The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time gets 5, but make no mistake about the 3 star rating, this game is as good as a game like this could be really. It was a good game in the MOMENT of release

Is not longer a good basketball game. Good music and smooth graphics but terrible game.. It was good in the 90s. I recommend nba hangtime. It was much better in this 2d graphics.

Awesome Game- brings back the good ol' days

NBA Jam is a classic game. Easily one of the Top 10 SNES games ever made.

One must note that there are at least two different versions of the game, the Original ('94) and Tournament Edition ('95). I mostly played the Original as a kid.

Tournament Edition (T.E.) has a few more options and a few more "smaller details" such as funny player comments. This version also has additional characters that can be players in the game, including some celebrities and musicians. However, both games are incredibly fun (and incredibly addicting!).

Playing this game, and a few other SNES games, definitely takes me back to when I was 10 or 11 years old.

I got my copy of the Original game for under $6, including shipping. You shouldn't have to pay much more than that for a good-quality copy of the game. T.E. might go for $10-11.

Snes NBA JAM

The graphics are what ud think they would be for a 20 or so year old game. Fun to see the big players of the 90s again. Alot of fun to see the crazy dunks again and the announcers are great. Good old school funLire l'avis complet...

Best b ball game for snes!

I dont play many sports games but this is a must have for SNES. Me and my 8 year old still play this when we wanna good fun time.

HE'S ON FIRE! The BEST basketball game of its time!

I used to go to the arcade everyday to play this game. I would pump quarter after quarter into the arcade machine just to play the 2nd half! Granted this was back when games were just a quarter to play, and Mortal Kombat 2 was in the cabinet right next to the NBA Jam machine, I just couldn't get enough of it. Famous lines such as "He's warming up" & "He's on fire!" will stick in your head throughout the rest of your gaming lives. I have never had so much fun playing basketball, whether it was against the computer or a real person. I practiced this game for a competition that Blockbuster had during the mid-90s, and I practically mastered it. This is a very fun game, and if you are looking for an inexpensive sports game for an older system, this is probably the best one you can pick up. Prior to this series, there was Double Dribble, but this series blew that one off the face of the gaming map! You might even be able to pick up this title for less than $1 on eBay, so do yourself a favor and try it out if you never have.Lire l'avis complet...

Didn’t work
