Christopher Lee Rhyne Review 67

Van is great for his singer/songwriter genre. MOONDANCE was the first album for it's year debut, Van writes surroundings around inner self. Earth's energy is often picked, life conscious & sensibilities like the guitar and piano felt depths. Vocals are 5***** and acoustics are 5*****.

Jazz with combo rock alternative on saxophone, collective pop and old classic contemporary with eclectic energy. Moondance a solo album also brings Northern Irish style blends developed folks to listen with intensity. Sometimes gypsies tune is catchy in some of the songs.
CD PERSONNEL--------- Van Morrison (vocals, guitar, tambourine)----- John Platania (guitar)----- Collin Tilton (flute, tenor saxophone)----- Jack Schroer (soprano saxophone, alto saxophone)----- Jeff Labes (piano, Clavinet, organ)----- John Klingberg (bass instrument)----- Gary Mallaber (drums, percussion); Guy Masson (congas)----- Jackie Verdell, Judy Clay, Emily Houston (background vocals).

CD label Warner. Piano, sax, guitar and flute also fill the Cd's instrumental. Jazz swing might have been an alternative By Van. Children to adult & lyrics all possitive.

Van Morrison Moondance 1986

This is a fabulous cd and 1 of my favorites probably best known for "brown eyed girl" his voice, the brass, acoustics, jazzy blue, I appreciated all the wind instruments because it has a great beat if you just want to enjoy some great music whether its to relax, wind down, or watching the sunset, or just to reminisce then grab a copy. His passion and (this cd has the words to these songs). I started laughing because some of words composed are of lives different experiences from childhood to Adulthood and romantic encounters good and bad which most of us can relate it. I fine myself smiling and I just love listening to the way he sings and I keep smiling, laughing especially because he makes each song special and unique and I'm nodding my head and laughing because he's so captivating and I'm wriggling my feet. That’s what a great musician does.Lire l'avis complet...

A Must Have for your Music Collections

I brought this CD because I heard one of his songs many years ago. Recently on a TV show I heard another one of his songs. This began my search for both songs. They were on separate CD's so, I bought both of them. This particular CD not only had the song that I was looking for but, a lot of other songs that were just as good. I like Van Morrison's style of singing and the music. It is soothing, but exciting at the same time. The only thing that I did not like is there weren't enough songs.Lire l'avis complet...

Wha? Top 50????

I love Van Morrison. This, the most famous of all his albums? Not so much. This perpetually rates in the top 100, even top 50 albums of all time. Franky, I can't see why. I listened to it and kept telling myself, "Well, maybe I'll get my money out of this on the next song (and I only paid a couple of bucks on ebay!)...and finally I ran out of songs. This album put me to sleep, which isn't good when your driving down the interstate at high speed. I said "Well, maybe it will grow on me if I listen to it a few times"...but the thought of listening to it even one more time was unbearable. On the other hand, "Common One" is virtually unknown, but I bought it in high school one score and seven years ago and I still love that album...this famous thing pales in comparison. Frankly, anything this dull doesn't deserve an "average" rating. The worst of VM's albums I've ever heard.Lire l'avis complet...

A Mature Companion

This is one of those life-companion albums-it came from a time when the sum was greater than its parts. As your life broadens and deepens so too does the appreciation of what this lil' Celt was doin'. In the current socially debased milieu there is no way something this simple but soul-sustaining could arise. There's room for everyone in here. Heartfelt, poignant and evocative of our planet and tribe, it speaks to the best of us and our ancestors. To the younger listener I might suggest doing some intensive hardcore labor 'til ya drop then letting it wash over you-might not feel so fractured and schizophrenic then, kiddos. It deserves it's classic status just as our history does....live and learn.Lire l'avis complet...

Great CD! Listened to it in the car for a week and still love it!

I like to listen to Van Morrison in my car while driving. It's great when you have a bunch of friends around and can all sing to the tune (not nesesarilly in the same key, either...) and talk and laugh. My favorite song on this CD was "Caravan", because it exhorts the user to turn up the radio. And we always do. ;)Lire l'avis complet...
