MOOG--A Documentary about Robert Moog, Synth Pioneer

This is a really cool documentary, shot on 16mm film. The movie follows the pioneer engineer Robert Moog in a first person perspective. There are scenes of Mr. Moog at his factory in North Carolina and his house as well as him talking to the people who helped him develop and use his instruments. We follow him as he visits New York and Tokyo, Japan also. There is live footage of Kieth Emerson, Bernie Worrell,Stereolab,DJ Logic,Tino Corp.,Charlie Clouser(who was in NIN),Money Mark, Rick Wakeman and others.
The best part is the interview with Rick Wakeman and Bernie Worrell where they are praising Bob and his history making and game changing instrument, the MiniMoog. That alone made the movie for me, a truly classic scene.
There are also many references to the legendary Theremin which is used many times in the movie, including the last scene with Bob Moog playing a Theremin outdoors.
All the music in the movie was made on Moog synthesizers, which adds greatly to the overall effect of the movie.
A very satisfying look at one of the true visionaries of electronic instruments, this documentary exposes the human side of what is so often refered to as cold and sterile; the synthesizer and electronic music in general as an artform.
The DVD also has 47 minutes of extra scenes that were not used in the movie.
I would recomend this movie to anyone who is interested in Robert Moog/Analog Synthesizers, a fan of Progressive Rock Music, or Electronic/Experimental Music.
