Anathema - A Moment in Time (DVD, 2006)

This DVD was recording when Anathema was in a major transitional period. Their label had been bought out, they were subsequently cut out and left to fend for themselves. During this period, they could not get adequate financing for their own tours and had to do much of their shows out of their own pocket. Also, because of their existence without a label, they spent nearly 6 years perfecting their most recent album "We're Here Because We're Here" before finally signing with Kscope and getting it finished in the studio. Great things came out of this period, 1) the new album is incredible and 2) this DVD. The material on this DVD is from their back catalog. Some has been reworked and toned down from the more death metal-themed structures as they existed in the 90s. Here you find very symphonic sounding rock music that is still "deep" and "emotionally heavy;" however, the band has probably taken on a much more progressive tone here than say metal. Highlights for me were "A Natural Disaster" and "Judgement." If you're a fan of Anathema, this is definitely a must have. If you simply enjoy emotional progressive metal, this is definitely a good DVD for you. Also, get their new album. It's a new direction for this band. The music is very positive in a sense but still an emotional gut-wrenching experience. This is beautiful music, but serious.Lire l'avis complet...
