A sweetheart of an impact driver that you will fall in love with!

After reading several customer reviews I decided to order this tool. I can honestly say that I am very happy with my decision. This impact driver is amazing. It has all of the torque and power of most 3/8 drive pneumatic air drivers without the hose and noise. I have found the 3.0 AH battery will last me all day tearing down autos, engines, transmissions. I like the selector switch. You have to learn how to safely use this tool. With all the power it has in mode 3, you can easily snap bolts and over torque nuts. use mode 2 or 4 and manually torque your bolts when reinstalling. Tear downs are fast and a breeze. The driver is light weight, compact and very ergonomic. It gets into those really tight places. The light on the tool really helps in dark places, something you don't have on your pneumatic tool. I love not having to drag out that air hose anymore. 2 thumbs up!!Lire l'avis complet...

Great quality and just perfect for me

The small size fits my use perfect , engine compartment, transmission and rear ends on automobiles Don't be fooled by its size ..it's pretty powerful and I can tear down engines with it easily. No air hoses to tangle up or cords to trip over . Just what I was looking for and haven't killed the battery during use yet. Tore a complete V8 down on one charge with power still left . I did upgrade the battery but was on the standard and it was just fine .Lire l'avis complet...

The Milwaukee 2554-20 is the most powerful compact 3/8" drive impact available!

Absolutley the best! Yes I have tried many battery powered 3/8" impact ratchets and many air impact drivers and well. I can guarantee that I've not ever seen a unit in this class that comes close to the power this unit has! In fact this unit is not only the most powerful but also the smallest and the lightest. It is just 4.8 inches from the 3/8 drive nut to the rear of the unit and incredibly just 2.4 inches wide. It packs 250 ft lbs of nut busting torque. Combine that with 3200 impacts per minute and 2700 rpm and from the first pull of the trigger you know that incredible power is in your hands. This is now my go to day to day impact. This unit will remove properly torqued (135 ft ins on my vehicle) lug nuts with ease. Even though most tire installers over torque lugs this unit had no problem removing lugs torqued to 250 ft lbs. A key feature of this unit that is indispencable is a 4 mode power that has preset parameters that work wonderfully for all your work needs. One mode drives the fastener to make surface contact so that you can set tightness with a traditional torque wrench, this mode works well when driving delicate fastners. I found that with the preset controls I rarely need to get a torque wrench out. Milwaukee should have called this feature command control because each of the modes are perfect for each type of work I perform. The 2554 3/8 inch impact is powered by a 12 volt lithium battery. I am astonished that 12 volts can provide all the amazing power that I have described here but it does so well and runs what seems to be forever. In fact I average 4 work days of use before recharging is needed. One of the best part of the 12 volt platform as I mentioned above is the size. I have been able to fit it into places where I would have a difficult time using a typical 3/8" hand ratchet and socket.
I am so pleased with this unit that it seems to be more an extension of my hand rather than a tool in my hand.
If you are mechanic, builder or a DIY person this unit must be part of your tool collection and at its price point Milwaukee makes it painless to do so. Milwaukee includes a 5 year warranty so you can be assured of its quality.
Do not live with the frustration of using an inferior tool, invest once in a quality Milwaukee tool because a quality tool will help you create quality projects.

When you order your unit you should consider ordering a Milwaukee protective boot to help in keeping your new tool new!

In photo 2 you can see how it fits in my average size hand.

Don’t think about it buy it. Most adjustable (power) most compact and lightest tool I own

I have a lot of tools!! This one and the and the Extended Reach Ratchet (2560-20) will be your favorite, if you are a small wheel mechanic. Most of my stuff is Dewalt, but I have to have these two tools. Remove lug nuts with no problem and reinstall lugs without over torquing. Work all day with this light weight tool and not fatigue your wrist as bad as heavy impacts. Combined this with a 1600-1200 ft lbs 1/2 drive cordless impact and you will have no cords or hoses to fight on your work space. Best of all, no more noisy air compressor. Lire l'avis complet...

Great tool

I use this on my motorcycles, has done a great job with one exception. Could not loosen upper shock nut. I had to use a 2ft breaker bar and a 2ft Chester bar to break nut loose. I have a 200ft/lb air torque wrench that I use on mt F350 truck. It has no problems removing lug nuts. This one could not break them loose. I still use it on my motorcycles. I like this compact size, and the batteries last for a while, make sure you buy 2 batteries so one can be charging while using the other. Batteries are quick charging. I definitely recommend it if you don't need 200ft/lbs of torque. It does remove lug nuts off mt Dodge Grand Caravan.Lire l'avis complet...

Best cordless impact made

I have had Milwaukee brushless 12v tools for quite a few years now. Their new m12 stubby 3/8 brushless impact is fantastic. It is very small so it fits in tight places, it is also very powerful. I don't recommend this one for doing lug nuts, but It pulls lug nuts off with ease, impressive for such a compact 3/8 gun. I currently own a snap on 3/8 impact 14.4v , harbor freight 3/8 impact 18v, and the Milwaukee m12 3/8 impact.
The Milwaukee beats the snap-on hands down, and beats the harbor freight 18v too.
It's a bit heavier than the snap on, but light enough to use all day at work. I recommend buying the m12 batteries with a 4.0 or 6.0 amp hour, not the tiny ones.
Best warranty on the market, the shortest 3/8 impact on the market, powerful for the size, and lasts 5 times longer than the snap on will.
My snap-on 14.4 impact was rebuilt 3 times in 4 years. I use them very hard.
Milwaukee tools last for years without repairs, Even better, when a new model comes out, the batteries will still fit. Snap on changes battery styles every couple years and you have to buy all new stuff.
I will never go back, I'm a Milwaukee fan for life.

Nothing to write home about

The power is there, but the ergonomics are terrible and so is the weight. I got the 18V stubby impact wrench as well and it's a much better feeling and balance. I dislike the battery being in the handle and making the entire machine chunky. It's also very loud compared to DeWalt, which I grew to love a lot lately. All in all it's a love or hate kind of device. If you like the bulky handle, you will like it, if you prefer the more slim handle of bottom mounted tools, you will most likely hate it. Since I have no reason to justify a return, I will get rid of it locally; it's not for me. I don't have a brand loyalty and I don't mind having different battery eco-systems to work with.Lire l'avis complet...

Cool tool, not rated correctly

As an experienced technician have to say it does not put out 250 ft lbs of nut busting torque it probably does 140 to 150, just like 2454-20 model, it is a lot smaller but also wider. I used a 4.0 battery but that makes it bulkier, the 2.0 small battery it just does not last, if a car wheel is torqued to specs you can remove the lug nuts ,but if you have been to a tire shop that uses air guns to tighten your wheels forget it, you need more power. Am skeptical in ordering the 1/2" model rated also at 250 ftlbsLire l'avis complet...

Great stubby!

Great little stubby. Has plenty of power for lots of smaller bolts. I think it's has about as much power as my MAC BWP 138 - 3/8" impact 20v for fraction of the price. Battery lasts long. I use MAC/Dewalt 20 volt tools but M12 platform from Milwaukee is now being used the most.Lire l'avis complet...

3/8 Stubby

Shipping originally said July 5th, Friday after the 4th.. but they were so on top of it, got it Monday the 1st! A+++! And the impact is awesome, just pulled out intake bolts on an old 440, did great even with a 1/4 battery power. Big step up from the original 2454, which was great, but a hair too underpoweredLire l'avis complet...
