GREAT MOVIE!

Clint Eastwood has been receiving quite a bit of critical acclaim ever since THE UNFORGIVEN in 1993. In this movie Clint Eastwood once again delivers one of the finest performances of his career as boxing coach Frankie Dunn. There have been some great movies in the field of boxing, and Million Dollar Baby is one of them. I was not at all surprised when it won for Best Picture, Clint Eastwood for Best Director, Hilary Swank for Best Actress, and Morgan Freeman for Best Supporting Actor. Morgan Freeman plays a character named (Eddie Scrap) who is a former fighter, and now a janitor living in Frankies gym. The Morgan Freeman character is the narrator throughout the film, and the narration helps us have a better understanding towards the characters. Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) refuses to give up on her chance of becoming a professional fighter despite her age, and lack of skill. Maggie returns to train at Frankies gym on a regular basis, and is hoping to have him as a manager. At first Frankie sees Maggie as being quite pathetic, and refuses to train girls. Frankie soon comes to realize though just how much ambition Maggie really has, and decides to train up to a point before turning her over to a fellow trainer who winds up doing a poor job while managing. Frankie takes over as manager to prevent Maggie from losing her first match in the ring, and then decides to manage from now on. Their relationship towards one another forms into something special. Maggie will go on to win several matches until she comes up against a dangerous opponent who is more capable of winning the fight. With Frankies help, Maggie wins the match. However after the round is over, Maggie is punched in the face, and lands head first onto a wooden stool. Maggie is taken to the hospital in critical condition. There is so much heart, drama, and character development which is why I like it so much. Million Dollar Baby can be depressing, but there is also quite a bit of humor throughout the film. Yes it deserved the academy awards

This is a serious thought provoking movie, so if you are into life drama, this is the one to watch. The acting, story line and character development are immaculate . Watch it, own it. One of the best movies out there! 5 stars all the way!Lire l'avis complet...
