Twenty Four Arcade Classics on One Disc - Excellent!

Midway Arcade Treasures for the PS2 includes some of the best eighties and nineties arcade games ever released. These are simply timeless classics which will bring back lots of memories. The disc contains two of the best ever arcade games: Defender and Joust as well as the follow up games Defender II and Joust II. Also included are the classics Paperboy, Gauntlet (4 player), Spy Hunter, Robotron 2084, Rampage, Roadblasters, Satan's Hollow and so much more.

These are the original un-altered games and are just as fun now as they were back then. Sure, the graphics are no where near what we're used to now but that's what makes them so great. For fans of the original Gauntlet, it's multitap capable for up to four players just like when it was in the arcade. Also, many of the other games like Joust and Rampage are still multi player capable. As a bonus the developers also included interviews with the creators of the games and some of the individual game histories which is pretty cool.

For what you'll pay on E-Bay you can't beat the value of this release. Remember you'll get twenty four games for less than the cost of one game at the stores. Pick it up today and enjoy!

Good for Old-School Racing Fans - but only 8 games...

Did you love playing racing games in the arcade ten years ago? Well, don't expect the exact same experience from this compilation unless you have a "car cabinet" to fit your system inside. You also are going to need a steering wheel controller if you want to get any real enjoyment out of this. It just isn't the same with a regular PS2 controller in your hands, though this game does feature some of my favorite racers from back in the day.

Don't expect great control because these games were meant to be played in the arcade with a steering wheel or handlebars. But, if you can get it for cheap, this can be both a nice trip down memory lane and a nice game for younger players.

Pros: Mostly arcade-perfect emulation, especially if you have a steering wheel instead of the PS2 Dual-Shock. Ranges from simple to complex play depending on different levels and games. Something for everyone who is a racing fan, especially those of us who played these games avidly in the arcades. Can be found for $10 or less, including shipping.

Cons: Very limited number of different games (only 8!) when compared to Midway Arcade Treasures 1 (24 games) and 2 (20 games). No non-racing games - if you don't like racing, this isn't for you. Less bonus content than the other Arcade Treasures collections. Less replay value as there are so few games, and you probably won't like several, even if you are a racing fan. Older games (from the late 80s) tend to be sped up slightly due to the superior PS2 hardware.

Midway arcade treasures

This was a compliation of old school arcade games back in the days! I found a lot of games on this disc that I played when I was a child. It brought back a lot of memories for me, playing in an old school arcade, Arcades that don't really exist anymore.
Younger players probably woudn't appreciate the games offered, considering the variety of choice they have now, but the forerunners of todays games came from arcade classics like these. I can appreciate what the cd has because I played the games in the arcade back in the days.
Granted , the graphics aren't as good as what we have on the current systems, but for those of us that grew up on these , It's a reminder of where we and classic arcade games came from.

Over 40 and bested my 8-yr-old at this video game!

They never knew dad could actually play and YES kick same robot butt on Robtron 2084. The humans can be saved as dad shows the rookie gamers some old tricks. It also has Defender, Joust, Paperboy and many other "Blast from the Past" games that are still cool to play with the dual-analog joystick PS2 controls. This is worth some video time with the kids. Good clean fun, and you only have to deal with the crying from the kids, not placing their initials at the top of the leader board. It is rated T for teen, but you can choose from the Twenty arcade style games. There is at least one game that you can win. Good luck!Lire l'avis complet...

Blast From the Past

Great walk down memory lane. Graphics are about how I remember but gameplay on a control pad is much more challenging than they were on the arcade version. While I made the purchase for Robotron, Smash TV and Joust so far the only game I can competently control with the PS control pad is Gauntlet. Probably because I'm an old guy who was in HS when video games 1st showed up in pinball arcades.
Seen this on Amazon for over $40 which is why I was looking on ebay. I'm happy with my $10 purchase.

Treasures for certain

I bought it because I used to play Gauntlet, the orginal, all the time with my mother at a younger age. I still love the game, albeit I'm used to much better graphics now. But if you would like to have a trip down memory lane, this would probably be a good game for you. It has a little bit of everything on it. Unfortunately, I can't tell if it's because of my system or what, but the controls don't seem to work for quite a few of the games.

However, if you're looking for something classic, this is a good game to go with, seeing as it gives you so many options.

Great game for drumming up old memories

Brings back the old classics, which without saying, look really grainy after years of high tech gaming since then. It's a nice run down memory lane, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Great way to replay those classic games we love

With so many games, how do you choose? I purchased this game about a month ago, and the primary reason for doing so was the game Joust (my all time favorite). When I got the game home, I realized there were 24 games in total, and all of them excellent! From Paperboy, another favorite, to Rampage... Gauntlet to Vindicator, the games bring you right back to those days when your fun lasted for as long as there were quarters in your pocket.
I recommend this game to anyone who had a love for the classics. The only bad thing I have to say about this game is there, of course, is no saving to go back. I did hope that, after going through 27 levels in Gauntlet, that I would be able to save and go back later, but you have to start over each time at the beginning.
Like I said, if you're into the classics, or just wanting a great game (what am I saying? 24 great games!) to play at home, Midway Arcade Treasures is the perfect game for you!!

Midway Arcade Treasures 1 for PS 2

A must buy for retro gamers familiar with the games on this compilation. All games on the cd were big hits when they were released in arcades . Midway was a major developer and publisher of coin-ops and video games for several consoles and PCS. So relive the memories of these very challenging and entered video games from the past !! You will have a blast. !!!Lire l'avis complet...
