Great simulator with decent gaming rig.

FSX needs a fast CPU, it's a 32bit program (old) and it won't allow full use of CPUs cores and high RAM. Graphics are decent. For better graphics, don't waste time and money with free add ons. Just get ORBX global and ORBX Vector and you'll be set with a new better looking simulator. A 5i or higher will do decent, but will never allow highest settings without serious FPS drop. ORBX has much better landclass, better scenery buildings, trees, etc. Accelerator version needs better computer hardware, do it's not for everyone. FSX is not like a regular computer game where you go walk, drive or fly in a set world or area. And that makes it CPU, RAM, and Graphics Card with more than 1GB memory intensive. Excellent flight sim - it's not a game!

I bought this as an upgrade to my beloved FS9, but it exceeds that version of FS in almost every regard. The only issue I had (still have) is that Acceleration cannot be activated - and all this fixes for this common problem do not seem to work for me. But FSX works just fine without it, aside from the inability to use certain third-party aircraft designed to work with Acceleration.
The Acceleration issue is the only reason I don't give this program five stars.Lire l'avis complet...

Good Flight Simulation

After trying the Demo I had to get the game to try out all the features. Still working on doing every, plenty of missions to keep you busy, and it has more airports to fly to/out of then I expected including the local grass fields in my area! Highly recommended if you really enjoy flight simulators but make sure your computer has the rights components. I have a laptop with what I thought would be pretty good requirments, but if you want to do all the cool stuff like highly detailed airports and all the traffic and scenary top notch your going to need a really good graphics card and plenty of memory. All in all still great game even with less detailed graphics in able to run smooth. 4/5 for the fact you need a good computer system in order to take full advantage and the limited number of aircraft (can find more downloads on the internet however)Lire l'avis complet...

FSX still topstanding

MS Flight Simulator X is still topstanding among other flight simulators, however it's a little demanding on specs when you choose to set on the higher graphic features, traffic complexity, textures, ... Even with a fairly potent machine you'll find that sometimes the flow isn't as smooth as one could expect. And the image quality is great but not 'awesome' or anything near perfection, but still very enjoyable. For the image quality versus performance, you feel like they could have done better.

But i really appreciate its realism, ATC communication, its tutorials, lessons, multiplayer interaction, expansion ability (inclusion of new maps and aircrafts), controller devices configuration, and its 'completeness': if you try to fly from anywhere in the world you'll find the corresponding airports, even minor regional ones, and the main characteristics of the bigger cities and landscapes worldwide and terrain like mountains, lakes, rivers, etc.Lire l'avis complet...

Can be difficult to activate but an outstanding application

My six year old son is all about airplanes, so this is excellent for him. He enjoys it allot. I spent some 14 hours and three days how ever trying to activate the product in order to use it.

Microsoft tech support was helpfull and available and to there credit. This was a challenge to get the application to work in windows 7. We are talking command prompts and switches as well as four uninstall and re install as well as allot of time online discerning the articles in Microsofts extensive online forums. The activation process is what prevents me from giving FSX an excellent five star rating.

The Microsoft Flight Sim Gold Edition is pretty great!

This isn't a game in the usual sense. It's a simulation. So unless you are really into flying, in a realistic manner, it would probably be boring to you. On the other hand, it's amazing to be able to fly out of an airport near your hometown, and fly over geography that you know. You can even plug in rudder pedals and make all kinds of adjustments to add to the realism. It's 10-15 years old, so various landmarks may not be up to date, but it works well with Windows 10, especially if you have an i7 computer, and even better if you have a graphics card. I don't have a graphics card myself, but the action is quite satisfactory to me. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold Pack Experience

This type product is what makes Ebay so successful. Couldn't buy this item locally for such a good price. However, since the item was used rather than new there was only one install left on the disc. When I encountered computer problems (not related to this product) I had to re-install simulator but the disc would not allow me to simply install it. I had to contact Microsoft Support to obtain a new code to complete the install. Further, I was advised by Microsoft that if any future installations of this product should occur I will have to contact Microsoft Support each time. This of course is related to the new security feature implemented on their software.

Overall I must say it is still worth it. Even for the extra effort required the price and service make it all worth while!Lire l'avis complet...

Best for knowledge people familar with Flight Simulation Software

While Microsoft Flight Simulator is old (vintage) 2006 it continues to be a good program. This version is not likely to be available much longer which is why the price is high. It runs best on Windows 7 but will run on Windows 10. Second party software is available from vendors like a2a simulations for aircraft and orbx direct for Scenery and other sights on the web that greatly enhance the simulator experience. Okay but has trim issues.

I bought this after a friend of mine built a new PC for me. The old version would not even load. Plus I've had it for years. I fly this with a Logitech joystick. I had issues at first, but went to Logitech website and downloaded the newest driver for the controller. That fixed most of my problems. I found that my stick has a few issues, so this might not be as fair a review as it could be. I understand MS fired all the people that worked on this. Maybe they will build a new version. FSX Review

The FSX Gold is the best option to get because you get more for less, two products in one for a reasonable price. FSX Gold gives you the quality of FSX Deluxe plus the accelaration package with all the great missions which I consider to be the best feature in FSX as compared to FS2004. The realism level is good but not as great as I expected it to be, but is much more detailed and realistic than FS2004 including traffic, scenary, and aircraft. The highest level of detail is in US cities,where both traffic and weather come to life. global scenary is not as detailed or realistic. Some fascinating details in FS2004 were left out in FSX perhaps to save space and processing time but it makes global scenary in some areas of the world look boring. The missions in FSX are the best because it gives you so many flight options of location, weather and aircraft and it puts your skills to the test. The missions are categorized by level of difficulty and you can fly them at any time even after you already passed them and you earn rewards.Lire l'avis complet...
