To become a real jazz guitar player...
This book is a monumental work worth it's weight in gold many times over. I had a copy of this years ago but loaned it out. I replaced it and began working through it again. I had forgot how good this little book is. If you study this diligently for a year you will be very prepared to play jazz and you can do it without a teacher.Lire l'avis complet...

The Bible
This is the Bible for all jazz guitar players. It was first published in 1955 and was out of print for a few years. I did have photocopies of the first book back in the '80's and decided to check on Ebay for used copies. Was I in for a surprise! Not only was it available from various sellers but it has been re-issued and I got both volumes for a song! This has lots of useful information on accompaniment and soloing; incredible resource for the serious guitar player.Lire l'avis complet...
A Classic Series Still Just As Relevant Today As It Ever Was.
These Mickey Baker Books are well known to guitarists for many decades yet the material remains just as relevant today as the day it was originally published. A couple of words of warning for some folks: 10 These books are NOT For beginners. You need to have a basic understanding of music and how to read it, which brings me to point 2) There is NO TABLATURE. This in my mind is a good thing. These books are written for guitarists looking to take their playing to an advanced and professional level. Chances are if you are to walk into a professional studio today any charts for guitar would NOT have tablature. Learn the basics of reading music and get some playing experience under your fingers and then come back to these books. From that point on your playing will improve quickly and you will notice a difference you might not have thought existed before.

Great Book for Jazz Guitar
If you like jazz guitar, you will love this Mikey Bakers book. I lost mine in our move several years ago and just had to have a copy for my stack of favorite guitar books.

Great book. This is probably the third I've bought through the years.
Great for learning jazz chords and how they fit together.

Misnomer
This item was purchased based on the recommendation of, Randy Bachman of the, Guess Who.
Stated that, this book was the source of Jazz chords used in the song, UNDONE.
Their is no conversion chart, for easy to use Jazz chords actually played by Bachman. Who Is Great!.
This book is only relative to the well versed musically inclined.

Great introduction to jazz
Well written book. Using Jazz chords to incorporate riffs, breaks and fill ins. Progressive chord and melody styles are featured. There is a second book once you have mastered the 1st one

Would definitely buy it again.
Old school from the fifties. A bit difficult to get into but well worth it. Challenging. Worth the challenge.
