Amazing Games Made Even Better

I recently gave Metroid Prime 3 another chance because I have become a fan of 'twin stick shooters' (such as Doom 3, Half Life 2, Destiny, and so on) and I didn't want to wait for the next big game to come out. Plus, its control scheme sounds so innovative on paper, I just had to give it one more try.
This time I put it on advanced aim mode, because, well, I was more of a veteran of shooters now right? I'm so glad I did, because it makes all the difference. The Wii remote acts like the perfect fusion of the camera stick and 'mouse look', completely curing the only beef I had with the Prime series: it's so hard to look around. Advanced mode with free aim is actually so perfectly tuned, it's easier to use than twin stick controls, and better! I played the whole game without ever needing to lock on!
I then immediately played Prime 1, and I couldn't believe how well the Wii remote was suited to that game as well. The developers created a near flawless port--you can barely tell it wasn't meant for the remote.
This trilogy is so good, I now wish ALL my games had this exact control scheme! I can't wait to play Prime 2!
You won't find any set of games with more imaginative environments, creativity, or satisfying exploration. If you prefer 'adventure shooters' to 'linear shooters', do yourself a solid and get this game!

One of the ABSOLUTE best Wii games ever, and one of the best compilations!

Metroid Prime Trilogy is a compilation of all three Metroid Prime games. The first two Prime games were originally released for the Gamecube in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and the third was released in 2007 on the Wii. The first 2 games have recieved some graphical, and gameplay improvements for this compilation. Better textures, effects, lighting, and new 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

I played the first 2 Prime games on the Gamecube in their original format, and I can tell you, these new versions are THE versions to play. One of the most noticeable improvements, is that Prime 1 and 2 now use the Wii motion controls from the 3rd Prime game, and that's a good thing. Prime 3 had one of the best 1st person controls for a Wii game. No waggle, or pointless gimmicks, it really puts you in control of Samus Aran, and gives you the feeling of power and technique of the bounty hunter. You'll be walking, jumping, shooting, and rolling into a morph ball with ease. The learning curve is not large. Once you learn the button layout, it's a snap.

Another fun improvement is that all 3 games now have an achivement system, much like a PS3 or a XBOX 360 game has. Their achivement tokens, and you can use them to buy and unlock special bonus features, like picture galleries, music libraries, and some special game unlockables, like the Fusion Suit from Metroid Fusion on Prime 1. There are "Friend Tokens" which you get by exchanging friend codes with others who also have Prime Trilogy. This is something I wish wasn't in the game, since not everyone you know will have the game... But I'm sure you could find somebody online who might have it... This is my only complaint.

Now, the packaging for the US version is in a steelbook case, with a transparent plastic sheet the covers it. Also included is a little booklet with a synopsis of the Prime series with some cool artwork and conceptual art. If your looking to get this game, try and get it complete with the artwork, manual, and plastic sheath. Another note for collectors: This compilation was released on August 24th 2009, and 4 months later, Nintendo discontinued producing it for the US market, so it's a rather rare and limited game, and can be expensive if your looking for it brand new, unfortunately. A good used condition could bring in $60 dollars or more, so just look around eBay for some good deals.

All 3 games are masterpieces, and to get them altogether in this on package on a single disc, is one of the best deals, or at least was at the time it was out before it was discontinued. But it's still a great gaming experience, not to be missed by Nintendo fans, and Metroid enthusiasts. This is simply one of the best compilations ever made, hands down, and worth your time and money.

The definitive Metroid Prime experience.

This is one of the best video game compilations of all time. Aside from the addition of Metroid Prime 3 which is a stand alone Wii title. Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes get the best ports of both titles on the single disk. Both Gamecube titles use the Wii controls, and they are well balanced, not gimmicky, and refresh the game for a new experience, even for veterans.

The graphics have been enhanced for sharper visual clarity and put in a 16:9 format. And yes, these games display beautifully on an HDTV and have no visual hitches in the presentation or any bluring or jagged imagery. The developers were very consious to ensure these games display properly without sacrificing the quality of the titles. The framerates have been smoothed out as well, so both games run better than they ever did on the Gamecube, and old slowdowns and lags in certain parts are a thing of the past thanks to the dual-lyered DVD.

The extras are also very nice with this collection. They added in-game achievements for each title, a revamped difficulty setting for "veteran" and novice players making the game far more accessible than when they were first released. There's also still MP2's multiplayer(not online-based), and unlockable art galleries of each game.

Overall, this collection is a hard find and you will no doubt pay high for a new copy. But used or new, this is a must for Metroid and Nintendo fans, it's worth every penny.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii)

Items received as described and contains everything the image showed (including the Club Nintendo game code, which was outdated for a few years already, lol).
Game is working perfectly fine and the disc is near-perfect condition.
Shipping to Canada; it used about less than a week, pretty reasonable timing.
Very satisfied overall.

A true essential for fans of the Metroid series

Two of the best games on the Gamecube, and one of the best on the Wii... all for the price of one Wii game. Enough said!

First off it's not a First Person Shooter. As Nintendo will tell you this is a First Person Adventure and I have to agree. Having avoided playing these games for their FPS looks until about 2007 I can see why many people never gave it a chance and decided to wait for 2D Metroid to return. Well, that is a bad judgment call as this is a fantastic series of games that will please any and all Metroid fans.

This is a great primer for the upcoming Metroid: Other M in a couple months as it will get gamers new to the Wii nunchuck controls up to speed. The controls take an hour or two to get used to, especially after playing the Gamecube games with a traditional controller for years.

I feel this is a great value, and apparently a limited edition release. So snag it up while you can. It has everything a Metroid fan could want (except Gamecube controller support).

Metroid Prime Trilogy

I bought this because I'm an enormous fan of the Metroid Prime series, and I felt that the biggest thing holding back the first two games was the control scheme, which was much improved in Metroid Prime 3. Having played some of Prime, I can say that the controls function almost identically to those of Corruption, and that's a very good thing. The only thing that kept me from being completely comfortable with my purchase was the fact that I already owned all three games, and had played them through several (many) times each. That said, I still bought it, and still think, as a diehard fan, it was a worthwhile purchase.

If you are a Wii owner and don't own any of the Prime games, it would be obscene not to purchase this collection. Trilogy's packaging is very crisp, very pretty, and includes three great games, two made even better with Wii controls. If, like me, you already own the three games, then I would only purchase this if you felt a strong pull towards having both Prime and Echoes with the advanced controls, or if you really wanted all the games on one disc so that you could sell the other copies. (I actually kept my copies of Prime and Echoes, because not only have the controls changed but some of the glitches or bugs taken advantage of by speedruns have been taken out and I can't bear to part with them). Essentially, if you really love this series and want to play through it again, or if you haven't played through it, this is almost definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Best game compilation EVER.

Absolutley great game. The Metroid franchise has always been my personal favorite, so this collection was a requirement for me. Even though I had payed full retail price for the first 3 when they came out, I did not mind paying for them again. The new Wii controls are definitely worth it, but if thats not enought to sway you, just being able to replay these games is enough. With 80+ hours of amazing gameplay you cant go wrong. If your a Metroid fanatic, get this game now before the price sky rockets. If you just love action/adventure/shooter games and havent played the Prime series, I highly recommend this. If you have played them before and dont have any desire to replay them, there are not enough new features for a repurchase. Overall 5/5 stars, one of Nintendos best and probably the best compilation game set EVER.Lire l'avis complet...

Really good game, tricky controls so far.

I have only played this game for a few hours so far and have been enjoyed it, for the most part. The visuals, even on the older original GC games are still high quality on my flat screen. The sound effects are also very cool, creating an eerie, but not creepy, vibe. But the music can be a little too much, like a bad SciFi flick at times. My one beef so far with this game is the control scheme. You use the the control stick to move around, but you use the sensor on the wiimote to LOOK around. This is quite natural feeling most of the time, but a few moments, particularly a boss battle early in the game, can be the cause of some expletive layden sentences. If you point the wiimote too fast and too far in either direction, losing contact with the sensor bar, you simply lose control, making quick 180, or 360 turns very difficult. Hopefully this will not be too heavily involved in some of the bigger moments of the game, if so I may be breaking my first wiimote. Overall though, based on the gameplay, visuals, sound, and sheer value of this title(especially if you buy it for less than the full list price) i would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a solid, unique, first person shooter experience for the wii.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome Game!!

I really am enjoying this game. We just got our Wii and have liked it. I am a pretty hardcore gamer. I like just about any genre, but found myself a little short on solid games for the Wii. This is a solid gamers' game. The Wii is great for a shooter game; I mean it's point and shoot :) The graphics are spectacular and the gameplay can be intense at times. While it does take a little to get into, it has got me hooked. Don't be expecting an in depth storyline, but enough intrigue to keep me wondering what's next. Would definately recommend this for anyone looking for a hardcore game for the Wii. Especially the fact that there are three games in this one disc. Between the three games, it's said there should be 50-60+ hours of gaming. Can't wait to work through the game. Also, www.gamefaqs.com has some better reviews that spurred me to buy this game.Lire l'avis complet...

Must-buy for Metroid fans

This definitely ranks up there with The Orange Box as one of the greatest video game compilations. It's like a box set, but there's only one disk! The metal packaging is pretty cool, and the art book is also pretty awesome. There's so much content: Prime 1, 2, and 3, as well as 2's multiplayer mode. All of the games have the credit system from Prime 3; you can unlock the Fusion Suit and concept galleries for Prime 1, concept galleries for Prime 2, and lots of bonus stuff for Prime 3, such as ship bumper stickers for the games that you have on your Wii, a bobblehead on your ship's dashboard of your Mii in a Varia Suit, and a Screenshot tool, as well as soundtracks for all 3 games. The graphics in Prime 1 and 2 have been updated, and there are now Normal, Veteran, and Hypermode difficulties for both. All of the games are controlled using Prime 3's control scheme, as well. This is a must-have for any fan of the Metroid series, and is definitely worth the higher collector's edition price.Lire l'avis complet...
