Metal Gear Solid

In the lightning fast world of technology this game is pretty much ancient.But gold is gold no matter how old it is. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score is because graphically it cannot compete with the cutting edge games of today. Everything about this game is on par with games being released today. Don't expect an absolute rambo style experience via counter strike or other first person "twitch" shooters. MGS is all about tactical combat. Don't expect to fight 500 enemies at once. Expect to use stealth and precise killing techniques to over come your adversaries.Also don't expect to just be fighting other soldiers either. Evading detection and using sly technology blend together with just enough heavy firepower and cqb action. The first time you play thru you'll be on the edge of your seat desperatly trying to complete your mission, but the second time around hours of fun can be had for the operator who wants to explore the game more deeply and have some fun figuring out devious ways to disable your opponents other than the ever popular "headshot". The A.I. in this game is probably the grandfather of A.I. as we know it. Other games before it may have had A.I. but none that I can think of contained the depth and feel that you are actually up against an army of well trained soldiers. Of course even the most well trained soldiers are only human and subject to certain vices which is part of the fun when figuring out ways to take them out. If you are coming into playing this without having any of the gameplay challenges spoiled expect to have to think out side of the box to surpass some of the games more unique "puzzles". All in all this is the game that put the MGS series on the map, despite having other previous titles that were also cutting edge in their time on older systems and having a very succesful line of games for multiple platforms. Great disk 2 of MGS

I had to replace my disk 2 for Metal Gear Solid because once I got to the section were you need to swap my PS wasn't reading my game. Disk was in great quality, original blue disk art, also included a nice sleeve to hold it. Shipping was fast! The disk came in a day or so early!Lire l'avis complet...

An awesome game.

Just Like Old Times!!! So great to get this game again!!!

I was a huge fan of Metal Gear when it came out but years passed and I hadn't played in forever.

I now have a 10 year old son and we play "Smash Brothers Brawl", which takes characters from various video games over the years and pits them against each other. One of those characters being Snake from Metal Gear.

My son loves Brawl and when I explained why I always use Snake, wanted to see the original. We've had a great time playing this game of my youth!! Thank you for making this available!!!Lire l'avis complet...

Metal Gear Solid: what an experience.

If you have the chance to pick up the physical copy of this game I highly recommend it. You can play this on the PlayStation one, the PlayStation 2, as well as the fat version of the PlayStation 3.>

This game started it all!

Even though this game is almost eight years old, it's still as good and relevant as the day it was released. To me this MGS has the best story out of all the MGS released in the modern console generation. It has twists and turns but is the most straightforward out of all the Metal Gear Solid games.
The Graphics are great, even though it is for the original playstation. The controls are what we've come to love as metal gear fans and the music and sound effects are amazing. The gameplay is top notch. There is nothing better to do on a sunday morning than snap the neck of a Russian Terrorist and hearing it like it's the real thing.
The learning curve is probably a half an hour to figure out all the moves and to become comfortable with sneaking around snaping necks. The enemies aren't the smartest but still provide a challenge. They walk in pretty predictable paths, so it is easy to sneak up behind then and CRACK!
I appreciate this game for the small things, the offbeat humor, the ability to sneak around under a cardboard box and leaving footprints in the snow for guards to find (you can also use footprints to get an enemy right where you want them). The bosses are extremely fun to battle and are inventive. The weapon selection by the end of the game is large and powerful. Which makes for extra fun.

One of the greatest game of all time!

Played it countless times and can play more. Absolute masterpiece on the system! The graphics is not so great but the control and game design is absolutely incredible! Must have for the system!

MGS is a classic, the best game of its age. I still have the moves memorized 20 years later.
