Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

So, I will start about by saying, "WOW". For a Metal Gear Solid game on the PSP, this game has some amazing graphics. The first thing that got me to check this game out was the fact that it's a sequel to the 3 title on the PlayStation 2. I really enjoyed Snake Eater, I felt like it hit back to some of that old school nostalgia of the first Metal Gear Solid. So when I got this game I was expecting some more of that wonderful feeling. The game is a very fun and interactive game. Unlike the previous Metal Gear Solid games, this game isn't a solo mission. You rely on team members that you recruit to help you through stages, giving a more strategic feel to the game. I say right now that the storyline for the game, for as much as I've played, is pretty darn good. If your a fan, and have been following the story of these games, this game is a must play. There were only a couple of things that I didn't like about the game. The first being the way they went about the cut scenes. I have to say that the animation is really cool, but sometimes when there is a lot of action and it's hard to see what's going on because there is no color to signify one thing from the other. Next the controls take a lot of getting use to. The camera is epecially annoying to perfect, but you eventually get the hang of it. I understand that they had to change the controls to fit the PSP, but it was a little annoying. The third and final thing that bothered me was the lack of audible dialogue, another thing that you get used to, but it was still disappointing. The only time you hear the characters talking is in the cut scenes, no more voiced codec. ;( If you are a fan of Metal Gear Solid, or just looking for a fun game for your PSP, I definitely recommend you check this game out. It's a pretty darn fun game.Lire l'avis complet...

Sneaking on the Go!

I am a huge fan of the Metal Gear series and when I found out about MPO I had to get my hands on it for some on the go sneaking. This game is a must have for solid Metal Gear fans, but if you are new to the series you may feel alienated by the story and gameplay. The game uses comic book style cutscenes but the regular 3D gameplay you usually see in a metal gear game and it does it well. A new addition to the game is recruiting soldiers to come to your side. You can build and customize your teams buy basically kidnapping enemy sodiers and bringing them to your truck. You can then use those teams in online matches against other people. Also if you go to different areas around the world you can find different recruits. So if you like metal gear, it would do you well to consider buying this great rare game.Lire l'avis complet...

good game

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops boasts ground-breaking online play that lets gamers recruit comrades to form a unique fighting force. The game follows the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, as Naked Snake establishes FOXHOUND in an attempt to hunt down the treacherous FOX unit, which has started a bloody revolt in South America. Set in 1970, the game will be the missing link in the ongoing Metal Gear saga, as players will learn more about returning characters such as Para-Medic, Major Zero and Sigint and also witness Naked Snake's greatest tragedy -- a loss that sets into motion the events of later games in the Metal Gear Solid timeline. Full voiceovers for cinematics, performed by returning cast from MGS3 - Snake EaterLire l'avis complet...

Good, but not Exceed Expectations

I expected something more like the version for the PS1. It's a great game, but not what I expected.
To advance the missions you have to accept an increase in the degree of difficulty. Totally different from Metal Gear Solid for PS1. However one has good gameplay.
I have to get used to not play with the Snake. You must be constantly changing and no spy has a great storyline as in other games for PS1 (2).

GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!!!!!!!!

One more time we can play the MGS series ,but now on a PSP!!!!!!
Kojima Productions did it again...!!!!!!
customizable, units to clear the missions, and then take all the characters online for battle is a great way of using the "portable ops" concept.

Using METAL GEAR SOLID gameplay, PORTABLE OPS, adds this pokémon-like way to play...stun enemies or find them in other ways, (even winning them on the battefield), to convert this units to your side is AN INCREDIBLE AND ADDITIVE IDEA!!!!!A, you can´t stop searching for new soldiers to capture, and then battle with your friends in some of the returning modes of MGS 3 Subsistence. you won´t regret this versions of the game, it is a MUST-HAVE for PSP owners.

Best Metal Gear Solid game on the PSP to date.

If you have played any other Metal Gear games and like them, then this is a game for you. I have always found them to be awesome with the exception of the AC!D games. Now the PSP is a small system in my hands to begin with but having to press and hold 3-4 buttons at once to get a stealth kill is a pain but in time it gets easy. The recruiting aspect of this game is really cool and getting to enter codes to get really good caracters from old MG games is even nicer. I'm all over the place describing it but it is a solid (no pun intended)game and the reason to have a PSP.Lire l'avis complet...

Time to play with snake again

It's MGS, it's top grade video gaming, it's Kojima. If you're an MGS fan, this is a must play. It's almost unbelievable they were able to put so much content into such a small disk. The storyline is as captivating as ever, the aesthetics some of the best on the console and of course, you get to play as the famous Big Boss again. If you've walked through Snake Eater, you should be able to dive right in without any problems. Controls take some time to get used to as they are a little different from the PS consoles versions, but it's really no big deal.Lire l'avis complet...

title twice as solid as solid snake

this game is great, at first you notice the lack of the suave action "movie" sequences from ps2. but, after a while, the cartoon art scenes take a life of their own, and they are great. after you are immersed in the game, the "movie" sequences become a distant memory. the game play is awesome. some of the missions tend to be somewhat easy, but theres enough missions for a portable. the score/soundtrack is incredible, the graphics superb for a portable. the only dislike is all the phone /radio calls that are automatically picked up during missions. it gets annoying when repeating missions multiple times. another criticism, not of OPs in particular, but the whole series: it would be great if snake could jump. it would simply add to the realism in my eyes.

score 9.98/10

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

I bought the black label version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and as a huge fan of the Metal Gear series, I loved it! It has amazing graphics for the PSP, holds the same gameplay as the past Metal Gears and has an excellent story. The only problem I have with it is some of the controls (which is mostly the PSPs fault) and the art direction of the cutscenes. Sometimes you can't see what is going on because it's just a horrible mess. If you want to play online I suggest you buy Portable Ops: Plus, but many of the people use bots for automatic head shots which takes a lot of the fun out. Still, I think this is an excellent game.Lire l'avis complet...

By far the best game on the PSP!

I put away my PSP for about a year. As soon as I found out this game released, I dusted the PSP off. This is by far the best game on the PSP. This game and its story is a continuation to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (MGS3). This game is filled with a deep storyline with cutscenes that look like Metal Gear Solid Digital Novel. The game has full voiceover in their missions and scenes from the cast of MGS3. The gameplay is similar to past Metal Gear games, so expect the similar controls and artificial intelligence. To complete missions, you will have a team of people that you will need to recruit to build your team. There is a multiplayer games that I have not played, but it looks like there are a lot to choose from, such as deathmatch and team deathmatch. This game has everything Metal Gear fans want.Lire l'avis complet...
