Mere Christianity
This is a practical guide to Christianity written from the perspective of a non-believer who becomes a Christian. Although written in the 1940s, the book is surprisingly current. Questions are thorougly answered in a logical step by step fashion. The author states,"Anyone who wants to think about God at all would like to have the clearest and most accurate ideas about him which are available.....Never pin your faith on any human being.... As a living man Christ is here with us now." The author clearly discusses these topics and more. You can read this book in bits and pieces because there is so much to digest in each small chapter. This is excellent reference material and will be a keeper on your library shelf.Lire l'avis complet...
C.S. Lewis, Nuff Said
Clive Lewis is an amazing layman Christian. If you are already a Christian you will find insight and understanding for living the life and walking the walk. If you are a seeker and not yet surrendered you will find encouragement for your journey. In this book he presents the argument for the golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is not "In your face, repent or suffer." He presents the Christian walk with common sense and day to day living. I love this guy.Lire l'avis complet...

Mere Christianity
This book was required reading for a college class, but I recognized the author, C.S. Lewis. (he wrote all the Narnia stories long before they became movies). A classic author in his own right, he writes about timeless subjects, as in the case of this book, "Mere Christianity". Lewis provides an unequal opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful and rational case for the Christian faith. Lewis spoke on radio to his fellow Britons about knowing right from wrong and about what Christians believe. During war-torn Europe; he broadcast his uplifting speeches from 1942 to 1944. These speeches were eventually gathered into this book, "Mere Christianity". It is a work of oral literature, addressed to the people at war.
If you are 'on the fence' so to speak, in regards to Christianity, C.S. Lewis is the ideal persuader for the 'half-convinced' good man who lets his intellect get in the way.Lire l'avis complet...
Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
I am a long time fan of C.S. Lewis and his master (his words), George MacDonald. I must say that I am a larger fan of both of their masters, Jesus, or Y'shua. Jesus laid into a few simple words immense mystery and simple understanding. Let us understand Mere Christianity is the work of a former Atheist turned Christian apologetic. The Christian and non-Christian alike should read this book so that they may better understand each other. If only the differing beliefs would study one another, en masse.... I find Lewis' prose to be distinctly intelligent and charming. Here for you is a chance to better understand the world in which we share and why many believe Y'shua to be the Creator Incarnate. God Incarnate. The concept shakes one. For anyone interested in theology, I highly recommend this book and along with it, D. James Kennedy's "Why I Believe" and Saint Augustine's "Confessions". The Bible and these 3 make a strong case for a One True Living God with the name of Yaweh.Lire l'avis complet...

A Must Read for All Thinking Christians!
This is an exceptionally insightful and inspiring book and a must-have for every Christian home. Lewis's scholarly "voice" and approach (this is an edited version of some talks he gave on the radio) takes some getting used to... and is perhaps not for everyone (he's British, a professor, and he gave these talks in the 1940's), but it's well worth the effort. If I had the money, I'd buy a copy for all of my friends and family members and put one in every hotel room along with the Gideon Bible. I also loved his book "The Great Divorce," an imagining of purgatory, heaven and hell...Lire l'avis complet...
God's plan makes sense, and supports our founding principals as a nation
Mere Christianity by CS Lewis is a layman's series of discussions on why Christianity makes sense and how good and evil actually work under God's plan for mankind. To really understand it is a great read. Worth your time with a series of thought producing strong logic and common sense (not s common these days) from a good man to help others.Lire l'avis complet...

Mere Christianity
This is one the best books that explains the basic beliefs of Christianity. C. S. Lewis is an excellent writer; his explanations are clear, reasoned, and easy to follow. He does not get caught up in the differences between denominations or sects, but focuses on Chrisitanity as a whole. I have found it to be a good solid foundation for further discussions on what it means to be Christian. No one I have given it to has failed to gain some insight from it. It is one of the few books which I read once a year as I always glean something new from it.Lire l'avis complet...
Either He is or He is not.
I enjoyed both the tone and the fireside feel that C.S. Lewis brought out within the text of this book. It read as if Lewis was smoking on his pipe and speaking matter of factly about Christianity. As far as stating a case for Christianity, I didn't feel as if Lewis was approaching the reader from a spiritual hilltop. Through logic, honesty, and his brilliantly simple language Lewis was able to reaffirm and strengthen my approach to Christianity. If you are looking to challenge your faith, and you are seeking to strengthen your approach to Christ - I would most definitely recommend this book. AMDG.Lire l'avis complet...
