Superb Kit of the Production F-35A
Meng's new 1/48 scale F-35A model kit represents the latest actual production version of the Joint Strike Fighter. It is highly detailed, yet easy to build. Options include open refueling port and weapons bays. The bays include not only the commonly supplied AMRAAM missiles, but also MER racks and GBU-53 SDB Mini-JSOWs.
Fit is excellent, and some important parts are actually separated along paint lines for ease in airbrushing (or hand painting). Decals are provided for two USAF options. There are also comprehensive data decals for weapons and stencils. I am having a great time building this kit! Meng has definitely brought the fun back to modelling. Best fitting kit I've ever built
I've been out of modeling for a long time so I have no basis of comparison of this kit versus any other recent kit. But I am thoroughly impressed by the fit and finish of this kit. I built a lot of kits many years ago and none of them had the near-perfect fit this one does. Everything lines up and drops into place, almost puzzle-like. The only area I had a problem fitting were the starboard bomb bay doors. It took a bit of filing, scraping and snipping to get perfect. In my experience one tough joint in an entire kit is as close to perfection as it gets.
Kit has lots of nice details, like the stamped brass turbine blades and optional additional parts for building systems in different states (fuel bay open/closed, front gear up/down). The trees themselves are virtually flawless with no flashing or other troublesome molding artifacts. Some of the attachment points are really thick so use care when removing parts to avoid tearing out some of the part material.
All-in-all I highly recommend this kit and I'll be trying other Meng kits in the future. Nice work!Lire l'avis complet...

Meng's F-35A is excellent!
Meng's F-35A is a superbly moulded kit in soft grey plastic. The parts are detailed, require a minimum of preparation and fit together accurately. Many joins are along seam-lines so clean-up is easy and doesn't affect detail.Lire l'avis complet...

Meng F-35 Spot On!
Much better than the Kitty Hawk kit. this fit much better and was way more enjoyable to build. Plus it already came with decals for the AFB I wanted to do it from which was HILL. my only complaint is a limited armament selection. you have to buy anything that wasn't in the weapons bays separateLire l'avis complet...
