A Classic Game

Megaman Legends (International) or Rockman Dash (JP Only) is one of the best games for the Playstation video game console. Being the first Megaman game to use a free roaming 3D environment alone makes this an interesting find. The main story of this game is rather interesting and the gameplay will keep you playing this for a long time. You may even find yourself playing this game more times than the initial first run.

This game differs from other Megaman games in the way you can take your weapons and advance them to become even stronger or if you want, advance your character to gain skills like spring jumping or Hover-Skating.

~Take your experience further and convert this PS1 game to play on your PSP for mobile fun!~

[Writer's Personal Note: This has been my favorite game for years, I loved this when I was little and have kept playing it as much as I can when I have the time. Now a day's I play it on my PSP so I can enjoy it on the go!" As stated before I play it on the PSP but there were a few issues.

I didn't really take good care of the game disc I had when I was younger and therefore I kept getting errors, glitches, bugs and the occasional game freezes. So naturally when I saw that there was a brand new copy online, I bought it in a second. Now I no longer have errors and can enjoy playing my game.]

Mega Man Legends (PlayStation, 1998)

This is a great game for everyone of all ages to play

Mega Man Legends has your favorite character blasting his way into the third dimension. This game combines the best of classic Mega Man action with enormous bosses and a riveting storyline. Explore fascinating 3-D worlds in your quest to find the Mother Lode. You'll enjoy the dazzling 3-D graphics, deadly weapons, and non-stop action

In MEGA MAN LEGENDS you take control of everyone's favorite blue hero, Mega Man. At the beginning of the game you find you've crash-landed on the island of Kattelox, and your ship is in need of repairs. While attempting to find the necessary parts to fix their ship, our fearless trio discovers that the island is under attack, and Mega Man, being the hero that he is, must stop it. You'll have to guide him through a fully polygonal 3D world composed of brightly colored towns and huge landscapes, and along the way you'll meet a large cast of characters who will help the story unfold. Keeping you company are Mega Man's sister Roll, their Grandpa Barrel, and their wacky pet monkey Data. The actual gameplay is a departure from other titles in the series, mainly because the focus is more on role-playing and exploration rather than straight platform action.

ESRB Rating: E for Animated Violence

Successful blend of adventure/RPG elements

Mega Man Legends was the star character's first foray into the 3D world. Capcom does a good job of making the transfer between 2D and 3D, but a few small issues keep the game from being truly amazing.

[+]
-Good graphics (by PS1 standards)
-Decent voice acting and plenty of it
-Fun characters with great personalities
-Game keeps you always wanted to explore every nook and cranny to get every item and zenny (the game's currency) that you can
-Pretty decent length
-Lock on system with controls makes shooting targets in a 3D world fairly simply to keep track of
-Does a good job of maintaining the traditional Mega Man blast-everything-in-your-way-and-keep-moving attitude, so veterans of the series should be able to pick up and enjoy this game

[-]
-Rest of the controls take a little bit of getting used to, and are a little non-traditional, especially by today's 3D game standard
-Not too much in the way of replay value
-Audience the game was designed for seems to change rapidly during the game, at times being aimed at kids, but with sections that will be too much for the younger ones to digest

All in all, I do recommend Mega Man Legends. It is a fun game, whether your a Mega Man fan, and adventure fan, or just a collector. This title can be fairly difficult to come by in its original, non-Greatest Hits form (although not nearly as difficult as it's sequel, or spin off, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne), and should be on every PS1 game collector's shelf.

Innovative Mega Man Game

Mega Man Legends is one of my favorite Playstation 1 games. Mega Man Legends successfully combines third person shooting, 3D action/platforming, and RPG elements in to one of the best Mega Man games.<br>
For its time the graphics were great, I remember thinking how great they were when it first came out. Pretty much every aspect of the game is entertaining and well done. You play as Mega Man in a world covered with water and small scattered islands. Your airship crashes on Kattelox Island and you must search the island for a “refractor” to power the ship. The story is very interesting and can sometimes be very humorous.

Legends pretty much involves you going on what are called “digs” to search for refractors and treasure. In the dungeons, you find special items that can be brought to the surface to create new weapons. Some weapons are required to find secret areas in dungeons; there is a lot of exploration involved in the game, both on the surface, and underground. You can also buy and equip armor, and customize your mega buster’s range, power, firing speed, etc. Most of the bosses are huge and are very fun to fight. For the most part, the game controls pretty well, I didn’t experience too many problems with the camera, which is surprising considering that this is a fairly early 3D game.

Mega Man Legends is a great 3D action game and I would highly recommend it to anyone who owns a Playstation.

Pros:
- Great 3D action game
- Combines action, RPG, and platform elements
- Interesting story

Cons:
- None

Nostalgic shot in the arm.

this isn't something you buy unless you know what you are looking for. The game works, the controls are trickier than on 64, it has been a nostalgic shot in the arm. If you like Megaman, ocarina of time, and Mario 64 than this is a game you will enjoy. Better on 64 but the sequels to this game are only for ps1. If you don't already have a 64 and plan on playing any of the sequels then you might as well get the ps1 version.Lire l'avis complet...

Megaman Goes 3D!

Megaman Legends, or as its called everywhere but America, Rockman DASH, is the very first Megaman game in ANY franchise to use 3-D graphics. Also, it gives megaman, roll, and the eternally dancing monkey-shaped hard drive named data, a new back-story...

IF you like crash bandicoot, and always wanted to play Final Fantasy, or Kingdom Hearts, but were too cool for school, or didn't quite understand the whole, RPG aspect, this game is totally for you. With fast, somewhat circular action, tons of upgrades and weapons, and side-quests galore, megaman delivers a fun and frenzied experience to just about everyone.

The only downside to this gallery of goofiness is thats its a playstation 1 game; thus by today's standards, it lacks quite a few things. There are no stunning graphics, no intense gore, and no crazy aliens with plasma weapons fighting zombies. Which in this case, i think is best.

So all in all, Capcom delivers an instant cult classic with Megaman Legends, a deserving, 5 bars outta 5, and an excellent rating.

IF you like Megaman and RPG elements then you'll love this game.

A great game for Megaman fans everywhere. Many love it or hate it but it depends on how open you are about Megaman as a whole. Many who hate it want to stick to the 2D side scroller format. Those who love it were given a completely new way to play Megaman in full 3D enviroments. The controls are a little clunky and you can't play the game in Analog, though the manual shows an analog controller when describing controls. That's the only really negative thing I can think of for the game. Its 3D but can't use the analog sticks?

The gameplay is great with megaman feel of shooting things and then the RPG elements of getting money buying upgrades new weapons. Many classic games back then were making their jump to 3D when the Playstation and Nintendo 64 were released. Almost all of them, except maybe Castlevania, did amazingly well. Mario 64, Zelda 64, F-Zero 64, Star Fox 64. Megaman Legends on Playstation eventually became MegaMan 64 on Nintendo 64 and its 3D jump was amazing too.

This was no exception to the awesome feel it got when it came to 3D

Mega Man Legends, old but not bad

This is a great game if you're a Mega Man fan, it's a whole new story and a completely different style of game play compared to any other Mega Man(out side of Mega Man Legends 2).
It's very nice seeing our famous blue boy in 3D for a change, and with out the helmet I might add. It's also nice seeing some new faces in the Mega Man world, new bosses, friend, and townsfolk!! Who ever would of though that there would be a town in a Mega Man game to walk around in.
This is one game that you should check out a one point in life just say that you've tried it, for sure check it out if you're into playing older games, the graphics may be out dated but it's still a good game.

Great addition to the mega man franchise.

Great addition to the mega man franchise. Game play is 3d so very different from the classic 2d mega mans games. Nonetheless, the graphics are colorful, present the mega man universe well, and not a detriment to the game play.Lire l'avis complet...

Analog controls only, intriguing story

MML is not my favorite game, but it is a game that I like and appreciate. The controls are made for analog playstation controllers, so if you dont like movement on d-pads, you will struggle. It's a literal "diamond in the rough" when it comes down to it. Even still, I highly recommend it. There's an air of mystery and drama as it goes on, and there's a lot of likeable characters.

The legends games are absurdly expensive but are still worth playing if you're able. Emulation would be best unless you've got a deep wallet, or someone with a childhood copy.
