Resolve Peculiar Project

I have a secure mailbox with a keypad and uses AA batteries in a plastic box with a plastic cover. Over the years and especialy in hot weather, the cover has warpped.
When bulkly mail is shoved into the mail box, it brushes against the cover and somehow the batteries become loose, therefore, I could not use the keypad to enter
the code. Luckily, I have to use the key, which is very uncomfortable.

Got fed up with this situation, so I built a similiar battery cover from aluminum with a hinge and a small sliding throw bolt using small screws and nuts. However,
whether the orientation of the screw or nut was on the inside of the battery cover, for the sliding throw bolt, would be position up against the batteries.

To resolve this problem, I needed an almost minimal or nonexistent footprint on the inside of the battery cover. The only way to get this, was to use a rivet for the sliding throw bold.

Since I never used a rivet tool, I had to go online and find out how to use this tool.
I was impressed with the footprint for the inside of the battery cover, I decided to purchase this Marson 39001 rivet kit and very impressed for a newbie like me.

Good quality product. Used it to install a dropped ceiling in a basement, with it only jamming once. Wish it was made in U.S.A...only downfall...but what is anymore...
