Great product, does need "blade gauge" for installation
This is a great way to adapt your Makita planer to carbide cutters. The only issue is that one needs "blade gauge" to properly adjust the blades prior to installation. The Makita part number for the gauge is 123062-2 and while I didn't find one on eBay, they are available from other vendors for prices ranging from $6 to about $20.
Once you have the gauge, installation is simple. And if you are staying with conventional blades, you need the gauge anyway, for each time you sharpen or change blades..
No gauge is needed if the existing blades are already tungsten carbide, just loosen the blade holders and slide out the tungsten carbide tips out sideways, slide in the new tips, re-tighten and you are on your way.
