I am on my second set of batteries. The unit has found my position once in about 10 times of trying it. The first set of batteries ran down because I left it on a long time to find my position. It was left outside to ensure a clear view of the sky. It did not find a position. The seller did offer a refund, but that would involve, cost of shipping and extra effort on my part. I live in a rural area and need to drive everywhere. I have two other GPS (in the cars) that find my position. This unit might work well in some areas, I would test it first before buying. If you can find a used unit in good working condition...go for it!

The Magellan GPS2000 unit is a bit old by today's standards but still offersa ll of the necessary functions that a GPS is helpful for. You can get navigation, coordinates, bearing, compass, date, time, and plenty of presets and saved locations. Used units run very affordable and are perfect for the outdoorsman in those remote areas.
