Great Game, mostly

The last version I had was Madden 08 and this is a lot better.

The pros: Graphics are great. Theyve done a great job on the players and the stadiums. Ive only messed around with it in one game but the audible selection is pretty cool as well. QB vision is no longer which I really like. The fact that the QB can place the ball, whether you want it long or outside of the reciever, this is a good feature.

The cons: The menus are hard to follow. It took me 4-5 tries to find create a player. Trading in franchise mode is tough as well. The interested will be high in the green but the other team will still reject it. The new feature to "speed up the game" is boring. The coach speaking into the mic every play gets old too. Theres probably a way to turn it off, Ill just have to look for it. Paying for online play. This is CRAP!!! I pay enough for the game already and XBOX live. Like Microsoft and EA needs more money from us fans.

Conclusion: Compared to Madden 08, Madden 11 is like comparing Sega to an XBOX 360. I wish they would have kept the single reciever autibles but hey, you cant get everything. I dont buy these games back to back and I would recomend the same for most others. All and All a good game so far.

The gameplay in Madden NFL 11 is great at its core!

There’s no question that the gameplay in Madden NFL 11 is great at its core, but some of the AI tuning slants the game too heavily in the offense’s favor. Both Online Team Play and the inclusion of Gus Johnson are fantastic and add a lot to the package, but I can’t help but feel that the moneymakers of old have been cast into the darkness.
I think it’s clear that this year’s Madden is geared toward the mainstream football fan; someone who just wants to come in after playing a game of catch outside and get their hands on some real NFL talent. For that audience Madden NFL 11 delivers. However, if you’re the type of player who sits alone in your living room combing the free agent wire for a player to add to your beloved franchise, I think this year’s Madden is going to leave something to be desired.

8.5 Presentation
Gus Johnson coupled with the cool new Super Bowl presentation and replay elements help bring the look of this year’s broadcast closer to Sunday than ever.
8.5 Graphics
Player details are solid and the animation work on the field just keeps getting better and better every year. Moments of slowdown during some graphical transitions are a downer.
8.0 Sound
Gus is a great addition, but they need to re-work the technology running under the hood so his dialogue isn’t so fragmented. Soundtrack could be more imaginative.
8.5 Gameplay
It’s a great game of football at its core, some of the AI decisions are more annoying than helpful. The added offensive firepower might please mainstream players, but it will upset hardcore fans.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
Madden’s typically deep Franchise Mode has been totally left out in the cold. Online Team Play is great, but it’s not the rock hard, never-ending activity that Owner and Franchise Mode once were.
8.0
OVERALL Impressive

Great visual upgrade :-) , downgraded the franchise mode features :(

Very Fluid movements, great graphics, Move realistic and got rid of the turbo style button, it goes off of momentum now. It's hard quarterbacking when you go from playstion to xbox as the passing game depends on button recognition but I'll deal with it over time. One thing i was really let down by to the Lack of training camp upgrades you can earn in the preseason. That was almost my favorite part of the game and with that lacking kinda takes the soul out of the team you are slowing upgrading and creating. They got rid of the Fight for the ball fumble feature. The pregame cinematics are pretty cool!
Sadly Overall i would prefer madden 10

One of the better Madden games

I have played Madden 11 on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game is better than 08 and 09. I'm not a huge fan of graphics but more so of gameplay. It is a lot smoother and crisp than previous years. I also think it is better that the turbo has been removed and auto sprint has been instituted. The only bad things about the game is the new GameFlow feature which really isn't all that great, it does speed up the game but at the lack of play selection and creativity. Ultimate Team mode is still a lost featuring requiring you to buy coins in order to have an above average team. I say buy it, if not for he gameplay, for the updated rosters.Lire l'avis complet...

Another one bites the dust.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I loaded this game, ( I hadn't played Madden since 07), and was dumbfounded to discover this game looks exactly like ESPN NFL 2K5, for cryin' out loud. Seriously. The gameplay just isn't as smooth. This game totally sucks. EA sports can make any game suck, and usually do, but with Madden they hold no suckery back. I can say nothing good about this game. It all blows. There's no tournament mode, the create a team feature has been reduced to roughly 8 logos, highlighted by everyone's favorite, the killer bees. The create a player feature offers you a truly disturbing and limited array of faces, then proceeds to feature these ghastly faces in every cut scene. "Oh, look, there I am with my massive helium head and seaweed hair style getting off the team bus....oh no, it seems I put my helium head on crooked back at the motel! Oh well, I'll just keep walking forward while it tries to wrench itself off my neck and go in a new direction."
But hey, the EA people did put a lot of effort into making the kick meter a total MFing pain in the ask Madden, and went all out on the sound track. You've got the usual NFL tunes, you know "Ramblin' man from Gramblin'" stuff, and they also feature Ozzie Osborne and Queen. What?!?! Yes, I too want to rock and roll all night and party every day on a crazy train, but not with this POS game. Back to hoops with the fine folks at 2K.

Best Year of Football Imaginable

Classic version of Madden that allows me to use the legendary Trent Edwards to lead the Buffalo Bills to a Super Bowl.

Madden NFL 11 - best madden ever?

~Intro~
I've played every version since Madden took over the top spot from Techno and simply put this IS the best version to date!

~Review~
My biggest concern I have with Madden each year is the gameplay. Is it really going to feel and look like the NFL that we all love? Well, this year's game comes as close as ever to bringing you every spin move and sternum-rupturing tackle that you see on Sundays. Little touches like deemphasizing the suction of the hit stick so that landing big hits actually feels special are great. As is the dual analog stick control scheme which allows you to perform all the jukes, spin moves and stutter steps you could ask for. It also gives players the ability to pivot their upper-body to guard the ball from incoming tacklers. It all looks cool and works well on the field.

While using the right analog stick for more than simple juking is great, the biggest departure for this year's Madden in terms of control is the elimination of turbo (on default settings). At first, it's weird, yes. But before long you'll forget what using a turbo button felt like. Now your player just adjusts his speed accordingly. Rarely did I find myself outrunning my blockers as the AI was usually sharp enough to make its own changes in speed.

Another great addition in this year's gameplay is the ability for your AI teammates to actually land successful blocks and hold them long enough for you to utilize them if you can read the defense correctly.

On the defensive side of the ball, EA Sports tried to turn all of the hot routing and assignment changing functionality you're used to into something called the Strategy Pad, but the results are a bit frustrating. You navigate through options with the D-Pad, adding one extra button press to access the aforementioned functions. Anyone playing against a fast-paced offense is going to be a bit handcuffed to make their adjustments in time before the snap.

All-in-all the core gameplay on the field is great and looks fantastic in motion. The players have a nice level of polish and they move with the elegance and power you'd expect from top NFL talent. The replay system has also been re-crafted to better articulate all of the cool animations on the field.

A huge departure for the series is called GameFlow. It's an automated play calling feature that shortens a typical gameplay experience to about 30 minutes (where it used be closer to an hour) by theoretically cutting the amount plays from more than 300 to one. Newcomers to Madden will enjoy the ease of use, while hardcore vets who are well versed in their X's and O's will stick to calling their own plays.

A Step Backwards

As long as EA has been making football games, it surprised me how bad an effort this year's Madden was. Especially considering that last year's effort was quite good, and this year's NCAA was excellent. Madden 11 fails in every category. Graphically, it's okay, but doesn't look quite as pretty as NCAA 11. The animations are good, but the Locomotion system EA put in this year for both their football games only applies to the offense in Madden. Defensive players CONSTANTLY defy the laws of physics, which is not only unfair to the player, it makes the game look ridiculous in action. Presentation is a disaster. Gus Johnson is even more annoying than Tom Hammond, Chris Collinsworth ALWAYS highlights the quartebacks (and says the exact same thing) in the pregame, regardless of who the QBs are. The replays (which look nice) are difficult to skip and the even the music in this year's game is weak. There are simply too few songs. Many of the songs in this edition are older rock/metal songs, which is right up my alley, but since I've already heard these songs a thousand times, the fact that there's only around 12 or 15 songs in the game means a lot of repetition. The feature set is also pretty weak. Online Franchise is scarely improved from last year, and Create-a-Team feature has not changed in at least 7 years. Considering NCAA has had the brilliant web-based Teambuilder for 2 years, this in not acceptable. There simply aren't alot of positive things to say about this game. I bought it because I like the feature of being able to transfer your graduating college seniors to the pros, an brilliant feature EA has used for almost a decade now, but this game is simply so bad that I can't tolerate playing it.Lire l'avis complet...

Madden 11 "Ultimate Team" MUT11

I know this game is almost "out of date" but I thought I might give a review on the Ultimate Team addition/expansion of madden sense there is not one out there. I feel that Ultimate team offers a whole new level of gaming like I have never seen before even though it is still in its pioneering stage. It is literally a "Game within a game" If I could describe it in one sentence I would say, "Take eBay, sports card card collecting, and madden shake it up and you got Madden Ultimate team." If you like the rush of bidding/buying on eBay, collect and/or have collected cards in the past, and like to play madden then you must check this out. The only real downside is that it doses cost points to really get started, however ea dose give a free start up pack to new users.Lire l'avis complet...

EXCELLENT INFO

I am by my own admission a modest Madden Player, I do not spend countless hours studying the game, the ins and outs of various plays and formations etc. I tend to just fire up my XBOX 360 and jump right into a game, picking plays at random as I go along.

this method usually results in me losing about 90% of the games I play, so if you are like me, and want a way to learn a little more about the game without dedicating countless hours to sitting in front of your xbox trying 100's and 100's of plays to find the ones that work well, then you NEED THIS GUIDE!!

this guide is excellent, provides very useful information for many teams/playbooks, all of which is very easy to read and understand, but more importantly even easier to implement into your Madden Gameplan and will improve your Game Play Abilities immensely, I purchased this guide about 1 week ago, looked it over a little bit on day 1, a little more on day 2, then went online and played a few games.....

before buying this guide my online record was 11 wins 15 losses......after buying this guide, I have improved my record to 34 wins and 20 losses.....

for those keeping count, that is a 11 wins and 15 losses PRE GUIDE Record.....Vs. a 23 Wins and 5 Losses POST GUIDE Record....

I think you can all see the improvement!!
