Fun game - some bugs though

This is the best baseball game I have played in awhile, probably the best since World Series Baseball on the old Sega Genesis. Gameplay is realistic, and franchise modes are very in-depth. Players have unique batting stances and deliveries (for pitchers) and the stadiums all look great and have great detail. Overall, it is a very enjoyable game with lots of features and different kinds of games. There is a career mode where you create a player and try to make it to the majors. The games you play in are fast-forwarded until your player is involved in a play in the field or at bat/on the bases. There are season and franchise modes, where you control a team for a season or more. There is exhibition mode, for when you just want to play a quick game. There is a home run derby more, and more!
There are a couple of bugs in the game and a couple things I do not like. The one main bug is when you are in franchise mode, whenever you play a game when you are done your entire coaching staff disappears. Not a big deal to me, as I play more to play and not to micro-manage. But, if you like to take control of every aspect such as coaching/training/development then that is a bug that will definately "bug" you!. Another bug is that every so often when you go to your bullpen when you are at bat to warm a pitcher up, the game will prompt you to replace the pitcher for the other team (which you can't do) and the game will not let you leave the bullpen till you do that. So in essence the game gets stuck. Also, the crowd/game noise goes off and on sometimes during the pitchers delivery, which is a little annoying.
One annoyance (to me anyways) is that home runs can come fairly easily it seems when you have the pitcher in a hole (like 2-0 or 3-1) and swing with power. The CPU pitchers almost always groove one in those instances, and you can often (almost easily) make them pay. I wish that was a little harder.
All said and done, I do recommend this game if you are into the gameplay of baseball games and I do not recommend this game if you are into managing/developing teams. If you have your PS2 set up to connect to the net, you can log on and download updated rosters during the season (which is very nice). I recommend the game if you like baseball, but wish it didn't have so many bugs.

MLB 07 The show

First, as I am new to this title and not a yearly customer, the instructions on how to play were non-existant. There were more pages telling me how to go online and play than telling me how to play the game. Nothing like spending the first 3 hours figuring out how to run the bases.
I played the first person "Road to The Show" mode exclusively, so all of this review will be based on that part of the game.
The A.I is completely screwed up. A month into the season, in which I am batting .412 with 17 bombs in 20 games, the CPU manager benches me for a few weeks in favor of Ty Wiggington who is "swinging a hot bat". He was batting .280 with 3 HR's. I spent most of the season riding the bench so Wiggington and Jose Castillo could demonstrate their incredible adequacy. Since this game rewards you with XP only when you play, you basically have to just sit there and let the game simulate games till you can play. Yea....
Additionally, the game uses real-life economics during the off-season. Meaning the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets ALWAYS win. So if your a Pirates, Devil Rays or A's fan, no matter how well your character does your team will always finish last and have fun watching the game simulate the world series between the Yankees and Mets. Yea... The economics of baseball is probably the biggest turn off for real-life baseball fans not living in New York. Why would you put this in the game? How about you put in steroids too? That would be fun too! You can have a mini-game were you get interrogated in front of congress for your role in injecting Dynabol into Manny Ramirez's back side.
My player ( when finally able to secure a role as a starter after 3 years of batting .400 with 30 some HR's in only 60 games) had a full season batting .412, 62 Hrs, 137 RBI, 1.78 OPS, 51 SBs and had my team finish 67-95. After that year I won every offensive trophy you can win, and the only 3 teams who offered me contracts were the only 3 teams who could 'afford' me. The friggin Mets, Red Sox and Yankees. All 3 of which rate at the top of list of teams I despise the most in baseball. You can't even select to sign with a different team for less money. I shut the game off and haven't played since.
Unless you live in New York or Boston, or maybe if you enjoy watching a computer simulate baseball for some reason, and you love the sight of repetitive and long load screens, I doubt you will find this game even remotely amusing.

Best Baseball game I have ever owned.

I like the career mode especially. Very challenging. You have to earn your way to the professional league which gives the game more longevity. More value in my opinion. The pitching options on the mound are realistic, and the pitch choices are numerous. The batting is challenging and realistic. Game allows base runner to take good, long leads off the base, but be careful. Game has excellent hand control of fielders, easy to manipulate your teams fielders.

I have not found anything I don't like about this game yet.

I bought this game to replace my old baseball game. Obviously much improved since my old baseball game was an 04 version.

GREAT BEGINNER GAME

I love the MLB The Show series games. This MLB07 game is great for beginners to learn how to play. You can work on your timing, catching and base throwing. Once you get it the game is great & lots of fun...It seems like the newer the year the harder they are to play. for ex. MLB 10 is harder because the pitching is faster, and you hit alot of foul balls. Its hard to score on a team and the computer really shows you out. Makes you feel like you dont know how to play. Somethimes i'll find a team that I can play a really good game with. I think the MLB 08 game is the best...MLB 09 is good because the silver and gold era is unlocked. On the other MLB games I have not found a way to unlock the silver & gold era yet...Lire l'avis complet...

Worth Playing!

Overview: The game is very similar to last years version, which is actually a good thing. They have added a few tweaks to keep it fresh. The biggest tweak was the addition of the Road To The Show mode. The Road to the show mode is were you take a created player and play a career but only focus on him, so you'd play only his position, and only bat for him. Throughout the games you get specific goals to complete for stat points. They fixed all the quirks that were major in the last game, but missed a few.

Gameplay: This is by far the best baseball game for any PS3, PS2, and PSP owners. The gameplay is as realistic as you can get, and with the commentary that follows the action it makes you feel like you're watching a game on TV.

Sound: Like I said the commentary of Matt Vasgersian, Dave Campbell, and Rex Hudler make the game feel so realistic and enjoyable. The soundtrack is also great.

Entertainment: This game will keep you entertained with it's stunning graphics, and great gameplay.

Graphics: The game has almost exactly the same graphics as last years, but they're still some of the best player models I've seen. Most players have the right skin tones, and faces except for a few.

Replay Value: This game has a high replay value due to the fact that you can play RTTS, Season/Franchise, or against friends on or offline.

What I'd been waiting for.

I love everything about this game. I had been looking for a very realistic game that made me feel like the game I was playing could be watched on TV... and now I found it. It really tests your skills with realistic settings, the player movements make you feel you're watching a real game and this game has BY FAR the best commentators I've ever heard in a game. Smooth play by play commentaries and they even give historical background on most players. I thought I would not find a better game than MVP '05 from EA Sports but I stand corrected. MLB '07 is the best baseball game I've ever played.Lire l'avis complet...

MLB '07: The Show (Playstation,2007)

O YA!! This is a fun game easy to play, good grafixs and fun to play! I really like the make a player and play his Whole life. It' cool to break the records yet they should of had more of them in it. I'm sure the newer versions have it and are better than this one yet I haven't played them yet They make the game play fast so a season go's by prety quick, I't easy and fun to just sit down and play out what you have time for 1 game or a months worth.Lire l'avis complet...

A great game, and probably a great series for sports gamers.

Beyond the standard baseball game. If you like running the operations of a team, managing, getting into the detailed plays of the game, or hitting longballs, this game has those. Although I am a bigger fan of action games (God of War, Resident Evil) this game shows promise for replay value in the variety of ways to play the game.Lire l'avis complet...
