From the Underground to the Mainstream.

Although this is the album that truly launched Lou Reed into the World's consciousness, it's merely the tip of the iceberg. The founder of the iconic Velvet Underground found a fan in another icon, the Great Briton David Bowie, who helped him form his music and persona into the enigma that he became. When I was at school, you could tell which LPs were the current cool ones as you saw them carried around: Roxy Music, ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition, Led Zeppelin, Taste, Bowie and then Lou Reed.
