Great CD! Great price!

The "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy has undoubtedly unleashed some of the best soundtrack music to date, this CD is testimony to that fact.
Being such, no wordy opinion of mine is needed on the music itself (there is already plenty of that elsewhere online). If you need assurance on the quality of the music I suggest you buy this CD yourself. Each person has a different opinion on music and mine is that this music is some of the best I have ever heard, and ever will hear. If you don't own this , you should, especially at present prices. I will let the music talk for itself while I instead give you a rundown on the actual product instead.
This disk includes all of the major songs from the "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" movie by Peter Jackson who got Howard Shore to create this music for use in his film. It includes 18 tracks of his work on a CD in a jeweled CD case, and mine included the 5 piece insert. The insert has many pictures and includes the lyrics (and translations to English where needed) to the few parts in the score that had actual words. The CD also supposedly has enhanced content for the computer but I have not tried that part out yet.
Price is a steal for this.
Songs included are:
1. The Prophecy
2. Concerning Hobbits
3. The Shadow Of The Past
4. The Treason Of Isengard
5. The Black Rider
6. At The Sign Of The Prancing Pony
7. A Knife In The Dark
8. Flight To The Ford
9. Many Meetings
10. The Council Of Elrond [featuring the song "Aniron (Theme For Aragorn And Arwen)" composed & performed by Enya]
11. The Ring Goes South
12. A Journey In The Dark
13. The Bridge Of Khazad Dum
14. Lothlorien
15. The Great River
16. Amon Hen
17. The Breaking Of The Fellowship
18. May It Be [composed & performed by Enya]1: The Prophecy

If you haven't heard all of these songs ... buy this.
Why shouldn't you get the "Complete Recordings" instead? Maybe you should, but consider two things: Price vs. Extra.
The price for the complete recordings is way higher than for this ($6 vs. $50). For the extra $$$ you get a fancier box, more paper material, more music on three CD's and other stuff beyond.
Why don't I just save that money to get the better "Complete Recordings" soundtrack? Because $6 isn't going to make that much of a difference in saving up $50.
Don't get me wrong, The "Complete Recordings" are nice if you can afford them, but don't discredit this CD as being inferior.
For the $6 you get all the "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" music you expected from the film and more.
You could buy this, then listen to it while you are saving up for the bigger set, all for a measly $6. Even if you already had the "Complete Recordings" I would still suggest getting this for the price. No matter the format or presentation, the music is all just as good.

Excellent Music to an Excellent Movie

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this Soundtrack will take you back to the memories of Tolkien's Middle Earth, as re-created by Peter Jackson. From the beginning Prophecy where Galadriel tells the Legend of the One Ring to the terror of a Knife in the Dark, you will enjoy the sounds that won LORD OF THE RINGS the 2001 Academy Award for Best Score.
If you are not a big LOTR fan or have never even seen any of the movies, you will still enjoy the adventurous, serene or celtic feels to many of the songs.
This is also a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the Soundtrack's website with the help of a web browser.
It is definitely an A+ Soundtrack.
I decided to own it, actually, because we, as a family, will sing the final song of Return of the King (LOTR, Pt. III) to our Baby Boy. It is called Into the West, and he loves it.
We own all of the single movies and the Extended Version. We are huge fans of Tolkien, The Hobbit, and his other works. Our 3 eldest children, ages 12-16, have read the Trilogy several times and The Hobbit, too. We also read The Hobbit as a family a couple of years ago and had a blast doing it.
This soundtrack, as well as the others, is a beautiful addition to our collection.

It doesn't get much better than this!

I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings films, and a huge component to my loving them so much, is the soundtracks. Howard Shore is a brilliant composer, and his compositions for this first installment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy are top notch. Each piece has an epic feel to it, and captures the feeling of each character perfectly, whether it be the innocent, fun loving Hobbits, the mysterious Elves, or the ominous black riders and Mordor orcs. It tells a story all on its own from beginning to end, where the beautiful melody of the Breaking of the Fellowship will have you feeling emotionally moved, as it is one of my favorite pieces in all. Enya does her part as well, singing the final song as well as some elvish lyrics through-out the soundtrack. Her voice is lovely and peaceful, and captures the beauty of the elves. There is little I could complain about, if anything, as I simply love these soundtracks, and each one builds and improves on its predecessor, much like the films themselves. I highly recommend this soundtrack to any Tolkien lover, or a lover of cinematic music, as it truly doesn't get much better than this.Lire l'avis complet...

Beautiful piece of work

This compilation is a masterpiece of filmmaking music. The composer Howard Shore captures the essence of the LOTR films, adding unprecedented levels of grandeur, mysticism and wonder to the whole experience.
The music is wonderful in the films, but only when listened to as stand-alone tracks does one get to experience the full richness of the effort and raw talent that has been put in to their making.
Despite the complete recordings of these films being released, this shortened-down version offers the listener the ability to enjoy the core of the music with little effort, making it ideal for both hard core fans as well as the average movie music lover.
Whether experiencing the flutes and pipes of the Hobbits, or the enchanting ancient hynms of the Elves, there is something in this musical score that is sure to please everyone.
Since buying it I have been thoroughly enjoying it, and I give it my highest recommendation to all who would consider adding it to their music collection.

Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring Soundtrack

Lord of the Rings has and always will be one of my favorite trilogies. Not only the visual components but the masterpiece called a soundtrack. The award-winning musical score composed by Howard Shore brings out the diversity of the cultures and emotions found in Middle-Earth.

The Fellowship soundtrack is not only perfect for the movie, it is amazing to just sit down and listen to. Tracks like The Council of Elrond, featuring Aníron sung by Enya, and The Breaking of the Fellowship are what really make the CD. Lothlórien and Concerning Hobbits are also amazing tracks. The Bridge of Khazad Dûm and The Treason of Isengard bring out the darker more aggressive side of the score. Overall, each track brings a key component and makes the album a true tour de force.

Uplifting, Exciting, Pretty Music!!

To Lord of the Rings Fans:

Listening to this music will make you relive the amazing events in the movie "Fellowship of the Ring." Not only will you find yourself rembering each scene in detail as the music plays chronologically, but you will tense up during the combat music and relax as you enjoy the hobbits' theme, which is a cheering but inspiring tune played with pan flutes and other erie-sounding instruments.

To Those Who Do Not Enjoy Lord of the Rings:

You too will enjoy the music, although not to the extent of the diehard Tolkien fan. The intense music is not necessarily enjoyable if you díslike the movie, but the more peaceful and melodious music is lulling and pleasurable for anyone who enjoys instrumental music.

Five stars for a score well-composed!

A fantastic score that you'll want to listen to a lot.

A film, in a lot of ways, is driven by its musical score, and 'The Fellowship of the Ring' is no
exception. Howard Shore's composition is unforgettable and almost instantly recognizable
in the same way that 'Star Wars', 'Indiana Jones' and The Dark Knight films are (obviously,
that's a small list, but you get the idea).
This is music that you'll treasure and want to keep in your collection for years.

Perfect CD for a great price!

CD and card were in beautiful condition. Totally like new. I really only wanted the Arwen card (last to complete my set of all the CD cards), so to get that AND the CD at such a reasonable price was a total bonus! Thank you!Lire l'avis complet...

great CD

This is a wonderful CD. It has all of the songs from the movie, which are beautiful and full of drama. My niece used the song, Concerning Hobbits before her wedding while pictures were being taken. It was a beautiful addition. Most people had no clue that it was from the Lord of The Rings, and she had many compliments on the song! This CD has at least 2 songs from Enya, reason enough for me to listen to it! I would definatly recommend this to any one.Lire l'avis complet...

Soothes my weary mind.....Awesome music!

I've owned the trio of CD's from the movies for a long time. FOTR CD & jewel case had gotten dropped behind a piece of furniture and when it was pushed back, it cracked my case & CD. I was very glad to find this one at a great price and in excellent condition. The music takes me away from what can be a harrowing world :o)Lire l'avis complet...
