Still a Great Speaker.

I had the Z4i for a long time and sold it when I moved 3 years ago. Since then I have tried various PC speakers, including the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5. None of them could hold a candle to the Z4i. Fads come and go, but good design prevails. If you find a used one in excellent condition, go for it.Lire l'avis complet...

Cute Little Speakers - Impressively Sized Sound

I am the manager of a Multimedia Department at what will remain an unnamed at a Texas State University. I edit film, and sound for a living, and graduated from an accredited AAS program in Sound Engineering. I've been in the sound business for over 2 decades. When ordered, work my workstation came with these little Logitech speakers from Dell and it's what I use for near-field monitoring. I don't have a normal A-B speaker setup, although I should... But I gots what I gots.

They appear to have 3 drivers per satellite, however, what you really get is a single driver between 2 passive resistance baffles. The satellites are sealed, and thus have potential to produce a tighter sound, although asking a single 1.5” driver to produce all your frequencies from roughly 175Hz up (this is roughly where the sub crossover takes control) is a lot. Better usage would have been to use the top baffle as a piezo dome, and the bottom baffle as a mid and use the center spot as the sealed baffle. But that costs more money…

Would I buy these for my house? No. Would I really use them for professional level monitoring? As a ‘B’ or ‘C’ set of monitors, sure. ‘A’ monitors? Never, by choice. Some lower level Roland or Edirol monitors would be more representative of natural sound for near-field, in the same price or similar price range.

The volume control is nice, and it’s nice that it adds the control for a line level out in addition to the headphones out. I sometimes use this to record soundbites from the internet when I’m in a hurry. However there is no Zero-bit mute present, and with no signal present, the volume knob makes noise as you increase the volume. The bass is punchy, but the ultra bottom end, around 30-40 Hz is lacking. They get loud, and if volume is strictly what you’re after, then this is an excellent choice.

The sleek piano black plastic looks sharp, and like the aluminum stands. The stands to however require that the speakers be places below your head for correct listening angle as they are not adjustable. The angle is not conducive to having them placed at head level. Really, these are more pleasing to eyes than the ears…

Again, this is all from a VERY critical listening perspective. If you’re not an engineer, and sound isn’t you job, then more than likely these will please you very much. However if you’re a budget hunter looking for some home studio monitors, forget it.

Best 2.1 speaker system for the money! AMAZING sound quality & bass!!

I do not remember exactly how long I've had these speakers for, I'm imagining it's between on about 5-7 years now. But I've used them almost everyday in that time period and have never had one problem with them. In that time I've gone through 3 Apple notebook computers (just upgrading over time) and I've kept these speakers and used them on every computer I've owned. This was the first product I purchased from Logitech and I'm beyond happy with it. Shortly after I purchased a Wave keyboard as well and I've very happy with that also, especially because it's MAC compatible whereas the latest version of this keyboard is not and you can't program the extra buttons for MAC: OSX. But back to the speakers, I picked them up at Best Buy for around $100 bucks which I wasn't looking to spend that much, but after I got home and started using them for a few weeks I was more than satisfied and happy I spent an extra $50 bucks on a speaker setup with the bigger sub-woofer. The highs the speakers produce are crisp and crystal clear and the bass the sub-woofers puts out is surprising given it's size, especially compared to bigger more expensive subs made for home theater set ups. The wired remote is awesome as well, a nice big knob for the volume is easy to control as well as a small knob for controlling how much bass you want, definitely a great idea. It even has a bright blue LED when you hit the power on/off button. Also on the remote is an extra two 3.5mm in and out jacks so you can plug headphones to listen or plug in an MP3 player, iPhone, tablet, etc. and listen to whatever device you want to all while leaving the main cable plugged into your computer or whatever it connected to in the first place. I love how the speakers match my Macbook as well along with my 23" HP monitor which is mounted on the wall. The speakers have a sleek contemporary design and look great and a very cool feature about them is you can remove the base off both speakers with a simple philips head and mount them on the wall as well, I might do this since they match my monitor so well and would look good mounted on the wall on either side of the screen. Not only do these speakers have amazing sound quality, the build quality is phenomenal as well. The materials are very good and you can tell these were built to last, very sturdy construction and they don't feel flimsy like they could break easily if they were to fall. At the time when I got these they offered them in black as well as white and I almost went with the white because it had the same glossy finish and looked very well especially with my white Apple iBook of the time, but I'm happy I chose the black because they know match my Macbook Pro and monitor now, even if I had the white and they'd match my white iPhone and iPad tablet :P lol. The ONLY drawback and complaint I have is that Logitech has discontinued this model! It's a shame because in my honest opinion this was the best 2.1 speaker system you could buy especially for it's low price. All the other 2.1 speakers Logitech now offers are nice, but not quite on par with the Z4 here. If you've made it this far through my review and you aren't sold yet, I would highly recommend these speakers to you if you can find them used. They are worth every penny and will last the test of time for years and years to come and you'll be more than happy with how they sound. Not only do they put built in speakers to shame, they make for a good tv replacement setup with a monitor.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Quality made speakers with super sound. Good for LED TV speakers!

Great speakers! Just what I was looking for to use as speakers for my kitchen LED TV which didn't have good sound. The remote control is awesome and so convenient with lots of features others don't have, very handy for changing volume and sub bass as sound can vary on TV and nice to have this contol right on counter for easy use. Also has power switch on remote so no reaching for speakers to turn on/off. Remote also includes a jack for headset and plugging in another sound source, which is exceptionally convenient. I often use my IPad or Smart phone for music. Also plug in a light headset when I want volume high without disturbing others. This set was really designed with many convenient fetures like this others don't have. Sound is extremely good, crisp highs and clear booming base. I especially like this model as the base of the right/left speakers is removeable and have provision for wall mounting. I mounted them on wall on each side of TV. The colors match the TV and they look as good as they sound! From the sound, you would think it was from a large stereo system. Very quality made speakers. Very satisfied and would reccommend these to anyone, especially anyone needing to mount speakers on wall. They are thin and look nice! And for anyone with thin flat panel TV, which most have, these are the perfect answer!Lire l'avis complet...

Best, very well sized computer speakers! They are awesome!!! A+ Speakers

These speakers are awesome for computer speakers. I find it so handy to have the wired control to control volume without needing to fuss with a speaker. I love how you can adjust the Bass at your convenience and the power button can't get any simpler. These speakers are well engineered! I highly recommend them to anybody. They are a little pricey but they are worth it. My little Brother got them first and after using them for about a half a year, I love them!Lire l'avis complet...

Best Boom for the money

I bought one of these for myself and was very surprised at the quality of sound, especially very high and low frequency response. I liked it so much, I purchased another for my son's computer. Very good sounding system.Lire l'avis complet...
