Solid stuff considering the source
I'm a big dead fan but until recently never read any rock and roll memoirs. Last summer I read Phil's "Searching for the Sound" and I couldn't put it down. In January I read Mcnally's book which to me seemed to be the middle ground between Scully's and Lesh's book.
Living with the Dead seems to be written with the style of Hunter S. Thompson in mind, that doesn't mean it's succesful. The overall content is entertaining and it serves as a nice companion piece to the books already out there on the dead. If your a Garcia worshipper you may not want to read this book, it does cast Jerry in an unflattering yet probably accurate light.
I plan to read the Steve Parish book and Blair Jackson biography in the near future.Lire l'avis complet...
A Real Look into the Grateful Dead
WEll, i decided to buy this book because i owned an original copy when the book came out in 1996 and and i needed to update the quality!! "Living with the Dead, is one book that really gives to specific details on what is was like when "the grateful dead" were living in the bay area and marin county. Many, Many, funny stories between them and an actual insight in jer's habbit!! AND for everybody's habit's for that matter. This book gives a nice look into "710" and when everybody moved on out to the studio in San Rafael, and of course the yaers that went by and all the fun they had. One truly enjoyable grateful dead book!!! A most own for any true dead head!!!! I bought three copy's to give away to some of my friends!!!!Lire l'avis complet...

A lot of memories for me when I went down to Haight-Ashbury in the early 60's. Some I had forgot about, but the Dead always made their concerts memorable, every last one of them. Going to Winterland, The Fillmore, etc. saw alot of great bands in SF.Lire l'avis complet...
