Can't go wrong!

I really like my new Router. I was a little skeptical at first buying another Router associated with Linksys, but this particular one is Signatured by Cisco, one company I do trust.

Ever since I hooked this jewel up, my internet connection has been faster, and more reliable than ever before. I was almost mad at myself for not getting this model a year ago when another Linksys of mine went out, and I replaced it with the Slim-silver Linksys WRT54G, that used to be provided by Vonage.

This little gadget is easy to set up and has 4 ports, plus Wi-Fi. You can't go wrong!

A Classic Value

This router is a workhorse, of a type and style not generally seen today. Rugged construction, use DD-WRT firmware to make this little beauty shine. You either love its looks, or find its ancient looking style outdated. If you simply want a "2.4 G signal" to work all day, week, year long, this is an economical choice.Lire l'avis complet...

Linksys WRT54GL

The price was right, appears to work as expected. This one replaced an identical WRT54GL, which developed overheating problems after many, many years. That failure was probably partially my fault, since I had covered the router with another device, which did not allow for adequate cooling. Tip of the day---keep the router in the open and not on top of another heat-generating device, like a modem, either, since the router itself generates some heat which much be dissipated to help prevent heat-related problems. I still highly recommend this model, and give it 5 stars again.Lire l'avis complet...

Great for folks needing a stronger wi-fi signal. great value.

These units are great for those with some knowledge and such. I don't suggest them for those without much computer experience. They can be a bit flaky at times, requiring a reboot from time to time, but most often, they are reliable. I am not just reveiwing this person's 'repeater bridge' but rather all of them out there using the Linksys set up (which seems to be the better of them all). I use one in my truck and another in our camper.
I know folks using them to send/recieve signals 4 to 6 houses down. I personally have obtained a great signal from a source about 1/4 mile away in a open area.....but you can do better if you use the right antennas and antenna wire 'aka feedline'.

Just keep in mind that you need permission from the person whom's signal you are using...otherwise you are breaking the law... these units are legal and serve a great purpose for many folks.

Best router so far!!

I didn't purchase this router from ebay, but because of its great features that I have to give it a review.

The setup was easy. Work right after taking out from the box. Great signal strength. You could turn this little router into one expensive router by flashing it with DD-WRT firmware. You'll find tons of new features of that firmware installed in your router.

So far this router is the best of what I've owned. Linksys rocks that they produce this awesome router.

About the Links Cisco WRT 54 GL

This router as a great in shape and appearance and easy to set up but the most important subscription of all detail about this router is that it only pulls out download speed of 20 -30 mbs on cell phone and laptop there is no Dual Band which means only 2.4 GHz and No 5GHz this wifi router is not recommended for wide and long range homes and is not recommended for multiple devices I would say this router is recommended for a single small home with maybe 1 or 5 devicesLire l'avis complet...

Reliable, quality router for anyone looking to create a network!!

This review is for the WRT54GL with the DD-WRT option.
I have used these routers before in Iraq to extend our network over wide areas. Had up to 50 clients connected at the same time and the router performed effortlessly. The DD-WRT software makes it extremely user friendly. No need for certifications or IT experience. It is easy to set up and virtually maintenance free. It can handle a ton of load via internet protocols, and still run print servers or as we set it up local movie server. I highly recommend this router with the DD-WRT option for anyone looking to create a wireless or even a wired local network with more than 10 clients. It has tons of features from the 3 different hot-spot software to the on board QOS. You can prioritize packets by MAC, or IP, or range of IP, or port, etc. You can prioritize by protocol used, and for the less IT savvy you can block, or prioritize packets based on software used. If you want Skype to have best performance over web browsing, or yahoo messengers. Also if you are a gamer and want your online game experience to have priority over everyone else surfing the net. The options and possibilities are endless. It is also very reliable. High temperatures and high dust environment had no affect on this router. I am currently using one in Afghanistan and will not go anywhere without one.Lire l'avis complet...

An all around good router for the price.

The Linksys WRT54GL router is very affordable and reliable with better than average performance for the price.
More importantly to me, it will run the third party firmware "DD-WRT". DD-WRT is feature loaded, and allows you to set up private and public wireless networks. But that's not the good part. It also allows you to isolate the networks with separate IP address ranges and DHCP servers. On top of that, The DD-WRT firmware allows you to give your private network priority over the public (guest) network. This means that the public network users only have access to bandwidth private network users are not using.
To put it simply, you can share your internet with everyone without it negatively impacting your personal internet speed.
You also have the ability to significantly increase the routers output power!
I have created a tutorial for most of this. You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43rM6OI_Y4w
