Router install

This was to replace my Linksys Wireless G to improve speed, and "Throw" of the wireless signal. My G was at 2/3 bars, new AC wireless did not change strength of signal. Wireless disconnects frequently and has to re-connect to proceed. That was never a G problem. Not sure what is wrong with this unit...too much money for an under performer. Setup went smooth, and I am not a techie, but there wasnt any changes I needed to connect. I expected a full 5 bar strength of signal, considering the write-up and glorious reviews. Supposedly this is the latest gretest.Lire l'avis complet...

Great router with a lot of features

I had a 15+ years old WRT54G Linksys router which was way way obsolete. Decided to purchase another Linksys because of the great experienced with the old router. PCMag rated this router as the best mid range router and they were right. The EA600 solved several problems: I now have wireless connection in my entire apartment (950 sf) without range extenders, I do not have to replace my laptop HD because of the USB ports to which I connected external drives, and I am not longer stuck in the crowded 2.4 GHz band because of the 5 GHz band of this router. The router is very simple to set up and to use. Great value.Lire l'avis complet...

This router fixed all network streaming issues

Nice router, easy to setup. With my Belkin router 2 tv's running Roku streaming had constant network connection errors. Now I am running 3 tv's on Roku with no more streaming issues. Running a media server, 3 computers and NVR, 4 cameras, all working great.Great product at a great price, well worth it.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome router!!!

I finally upgraded from a Linksys e2000. I like the Linksys brand I have tried a few others (Belikn and D-Link, Netgear) and found Linksys to be the best so far. For better security you can install DD-WRT and have a better UI with more information. The stock firmware is great for most though. Also I found it runs a little hot so, to prolong the life of the router I have a couple 120mm fans under it. You can use a simple laptop cooler pad as long as the fan is centered on the router.
Overall the router is awesome! Future proofed with the new IEEE 802.11ac so, I will probably not need to upgrade for a good 3-5 years. I can not say enough about the features, it's a great buy!!!

Linksys EA6900 router makes a great accesss point!

Great speeds and broad coverage for WIFI. Setup for using as an access point is quick and easy. I have a very large house which is hard to cover with a single router. The EA6900 attached to my "main router" as an access point covers my entire house now.Lire l'avis complet...

Performance performance router on the cheap

Bought this to replace my girlfriends old n300 Linksys mainly used to stream Netflix. The EA6900 is a last gen product but its still a pretty amazing wifi router. Performance far exceeded my expectations. It is extremely adept at handling heavy simultaneous data traffic (aggregate throughput) as well as wireless duties. It appears to be as fast if not faster than my older WRT1900AC which I thought was pretty spectacular. Wifi performance is good too with none of the stability issues some of the internet reviews have highlighted; Netflix streams/buffers almost instantly on the 5GHz band and never dropped a bit. If you are looking for a good performing wifi router and don't have tons of devices needing access; this is a great deal on the used market.

I have no reservations in recommending this to a friend/family looking for a cheap but still high performance router solution. I had it up and running in under 5 minutes with no issues and it even updated itself with the latest firmware. It does run hot but aside from that, it is fast, reliable, and stable.

Good buy for cost.

Easy set up, as long as you follow instructions. We live in a two story house with the office, and router in the top corner room. Most of what I do on my laptop is done downstairs. I get a five bar signal without a repeater. Very happy with purchase.Lire l'avis complet...

Double the gas and with some adjustments 50% more range than E4200.

Decided I needed to replace my Linksys E4200 and a DD WRT54G I was using as a bridge. On Speedtest at a distance of 20 ft I had been seeing about 65Mbps N and about 20Mbps G but my bridge was only getting about 7 or 8 to my Smart(G)TV which was out of range of my 4200 router at about 65ft. The wife had purchased a Macbook Air that ran AC1300 so I'd been eying the AC1300 Airport Extreme.

After reading some online reviews and my history with Linksys I ended up buying 3 store returned EA6900 for $200($66 each) off eBay. Deal of the century and just too good to pass up! Decided I'd take one to my mom, who is still running a Blue 54G from 2003.
Plugged it in and it worked right out of the box with the SSID and PSW on the bottom. I chose to set mine up manually, passing on the Smart interface and internet access to my router. I guess you need that to set up with your phone or iPad. I set up same PSW but different SSIDs for the 5 and 2.4 bands and turned on the Guest network. Used Dell's wireless utility to see that my neighbors were already using chnl 1 and 11 and when on auto, the 6900 wanted to go to 6 which was the range my cordless phone system was using. I manually checked all the channels signal to noise ratio and got best signal on chl 2. Couldn't do all that for 5Ghz radio so I left it on Auto.

At about 20ft, the thing runs like a hose on the N band. I'm getting 104Gbps N on the 5GHz radio and 45Gbps N on the 2.4 radio. My G rates really haven't changed. I saw no noticeable range increase in either band until I turned my router sideways. Now I get connected to the 2.4 out on my deck, about 30 ft farther than with my E4200 and it tests at about 12Gbps there. That's past my TV so I was able to retire the range extender. My 5GHz radio only connects at about 50ft, which would be OK if it was in the center of the house. I'm still experimenting with these funky antenna and their wave forming technology.

4004 sqft, 2 story house. I'm paying Comcast for 50Mbps. Dunno what I'm getting out of the modem cuz I don't have a 1000 network adapter to test. Clearly more than 104 if I get that off the 5GHz wifi.
