Very good product, does exactly what I need it to do.

I purchased this product to extend the range of my current wi-fi network. I had one Linksys WRT54G but it was in a bedroom at the farthest point from my living room tv where I wanted wi-fi as well. Signal at the tv was spotty at best. My network is a G network and this router has the same manufacturer as my existing router so the choice was a "no brainer."

Basic setup is simple and once parameters are set it's no fuss to add wireless devices. The one I purchased was previously used. I don't mind used products, especially of this type because it is essentially passive with no moving parts or anything to wear out. The price was well within my budget costing less than $20 and I consider this a great value for my money because now I have 90 to 100% signal in every room of the house.

The rating of 4 out of 5 stars stems from lack of clarity of information regarding using this device as an access point rather than a router. A hard wire has to be run from the primary router to the secondary. Internet advice from multiple sites, including the manufacturer, on firmware settings is unclear and sometimes contradictory. There is some assumption that you know what you want to do and how to do it associated with "off label" use of this router. Once I was able to ascertain the correct settings and run the cable needed, everything else was fairly automatic.

The only improvement I could ask for would be to have clear instructions in the support area of the manufacturer website but, as this is previous generation technology, I don't look for that to happen.

oldie but goodie

WRT54G is 802.11 G or 54 Mbps per second max
you will get little less than half of that due to wi-fi overhead. I utilize on channel 1,6 or 11 2.4GHz to control certain household lights and garage doorsLire l'avis complet...

Good candidate for a bios flash

It's a plain boring router. However, this model is a good candidate for a bios flash. Which I did. Now this router acts as a wireless bridge, useful for establishing connectivity with older devices that cannot be upgraded to use wireless. Like the old blue-ray player in my kids bedroom. Now the kid can watch Netflix through the blue-ray player and I didn't have to buy a modern smart-tv or any Roku dongle doo-hicky. Not bad for a piece of used hardware for $8 (including shipping) on eBay. With a little hacking, you can polish a turd.Lire l'avis complet...

Works as great AP

Bought this to use as an access point (AP). I was using a different linksys model for this purpose but it kept randomly disconnecting necessitating unplugging and restarting the prior model. As I was also using this model elsewhere as well, I noticed I never had to reset it. Since I replaced the one giving me headaches with this one, no more resets.Lire l'avis complet...

Great router, B/G speeds for most pre-2010 devices, up to 4 ports ethernet.

I bought this to replace my old Wifi B router, my internet speed down is roughly 20mb , so I went with this one, which can do B/G speeds up to 54mbps. I just needed it to be able to stream content to my other devices so this is probably one of the best purchases I've ever made... it works flawlessly while playing on PSN and because the PS3 Slim that I have only supports up to the G band wave. Great router overall. Only thing to know about it, if you buy one that used and there's a password on it, you have to reset it to factory settings by using a paperclip of led pencil on the reset button on the back while it's turned on for 10 seconds. Then go to the router settings via your web browser at 192.168.1.1 and use admin as the password with no username entered or download the setup ISO and mount it with deamon tools lite to set it up.

Here's where to find all of it's information.

Very good wireless router for devices that do not support N speeds.

I needed this router to run along side my N-Only MIMO network so that devices that did not support N would not slow down my network. After setting it up and turning off the DHCP on it, it works great, perfect for what I need. Can use more features in the wireless security department, but overall very happy. Now I can connect my iPhone 3G and Blackberry 9700!Lire l'avis complet...

WRT600N - premium device for DD-WRT

This is regarded as the most desireable device for use with DD-WRT custom firmware. Although many cheaper devices are supported, this particular model has the best features and a good reputation for longevity. It has gigabit LAN ports, dual band radio and is easily flashed.
Why flash DD-WRT? - unlock additional capabilities such as repeater, repeater bridge/client modes, WDS mode, QOS, accounting of bandwidth useage, etc, etc. Large flash rom enables the full version DD-WRT to be used.

Lovin' the Speed!

I bought this router because I was curious about the N-router coming from the Linksys G-router...and of course I want the best for my buck. The reviews I read from several websites on this model router had a lot of discouraging things to say about the ease of installation but good things about the speed. I decided to try it anyway, and I had minimal problems setting it up. Followed the step-by-step directions, then rebooted. Network setup was simple, but I could not connect to internet immediately. So following my normal no-internet procedures, I unplugged my cable modem & router then replugged cable modem (waited for all the lights) and then plugged the router (wait for all the lights), and then right click on my network connection and go to repair, then Voila! Talk about fast...my internet loaded almost instantaneously when I clicked the Internet Explorer icon. I'm able to network 2 computers running Vista and XP, and a WII and 360 with no problems.Lire l'avis complet...

WRT600N

Bought this to replace a WRT55AG, which would not accept "non 00" MAC codes in the wireless permit/block area of the firmware. Also wanted to add "N spec". WRT610 would probably have worked, but I'd heard that the 600 had better range but was a bit "quirky".

This 600 works FINE...no problems! Haven't messed with storage link, etc., so I can't comment on supposed problems with that area. The 600 it rarely needs resetting, whereas my old 55AG was quite "pesky" when it came to locking up. The 600 firmware has no blocks on MAC filters and N-spec works well. It's also quite a "HAL" looking device! :)

In summary...I've been pleased.
