Another Great Nature Documentary from the BBC

First, let me say that I went out of my way to find the version of LIFE narrated by David Attenborugh. The version that aired on the Discovery channel was narrated by Oprah Winfrey and I could not watch it. The narration is so key to these types of documentaries and Winfrey is nowhere near the pro the Attenborugh is when it comes to narration.

I was dismayed that none of the local Best Buys sold the Attenborugh version so I bought it on eBay.

LIFE delivers great visuals but don't expect as many breath taking shots as were in BBC's Planet Earth documentary.

This series focuses on the animals, plants and insects around the world. As such, much of the time throughout the documentary is focused on tight shots of the subjects.

These shots are spectacular nonetheless and you will often ask yourself how they managed to get the shots at all. It is amazing to what lengths and dangers the camera crew will go to secure these shots.

I'd recommend this title to anyone who enjoys these types of documentaries.Lire l'avis complet...

PS3 (PlayStation 3) owners - Keep away from this

This Blu-ray disc content is of Video resolution: 1080/50i which means the frequency is 50 Hz. Most of the Blu-ray players in US can read this 50Hz content and convert it to 60Hz which is the playback standard in US. Unfortunately, PlayStation3 bought in US (Region A) does not play 50Hz content.
So keep away from this UK edition, if your only playback device is a PS3.

Great quality and film making by BBC

Impressive filming scenes, made by professionals, make this set a must-see among the documentaries in the field. It is something that you do not get watching the TV channels, even the good ones. The comment by Attenborough completes together with carefully chosen music the enjoyment (BTW, who would choose comment by Oprah??? God forbid!). The only draw-back would be that some scenes repeat several times through out all episodes, but all in all a great film. Worth seeing it!Lire l'avis complet...

The Bluray picture quality is excellent on any HD television. The makers of "Life" use the finest HD cameras around and have captured some truly remarkable shots that can be seen in their full glory with Bluray. Not most of it concerned me, but thankfully a rare scene of kingo the western lowland gorilla was included here, and that’s what indeed concerned me.

Superb visual blu ray!!!

If you want to test the picture quality of your HDTV and Blu Ray system this and the Planet Earth Blu ray are a must have....Dont buy the Oprah version!! These Blu ray's are why HDTV's were made. Great for the whole family... Wouldn't be without them in my collection...Lire l'avis complet...

GREAT DEAL

I love the Planet earth series and I wanted the new Life series but it is kinda costly. This is a great deal!!!!! The life series is in full HD 1080P and is just as good as planet earth if not better
