A Great Comedy

I had been longing to see this again for a while now, and it wasn't until recently when it was on regular television that I decided I wanted to have it in my collection on DVD. Now this has been out of print for a while now on DVD, so after scanning Ebay for a while i finally found one that wasn't overpriced. Of course Richard Dreyfuss plays Jay Trotter, a gambler that is just looking to have one good day. So, after overhearing a conversation recorded by Trotters friend Looney, played by David Johanssen. Who as a hobby records the conversations of his taxicab passengers (he drives a cab for a living). Trotter decides to go to the track and Let It Ride..... Along the course of the day Trotter ends up thanking the two owners of the horse that won the first race to start off his day, they give him their tickets for the Jockeys Club where trotter has always wanted to visit for the upperclass gamblers. There he meets the beautiful Vicky played by Jennifer Tilly, Vicky is already attached to another highclass gambler who prints Greeting Cards for a career. From there the laughs just continue. This movie is great for what it is..a classic comedy, so do yourself a favor and pick this movie up when you can.Lire l'avis complet...

Let It Ride... Catch it if you can!

I originally purchased the DVD, Let It Ride for a friend who had been looking for this for some time. However, he does not have an eBay account and the purchase price on Amazon was quite expensive.>
Fortunately, I was able to track it down for him and before I gave it to him, my husband and I watched it as well.

It was an interesting film about a man who had a gambling addiction who was committed to getting on the wagon, but he soon finds a way to be sure his bets win. Therefore, he doesn't consider it a gamble. He has a difficult time explaining this to his wife since his gambling habit was affecting their marriage.

He has many funny mishaps along the way and you find yourself cheering for him to make the money on his sure bets, but to also lick his gambling addiction as well.

It was fun and entertaining to watch and I would recommend the film.

I think the film was better than most films these days because of the plot and the interesting aspect of the subject matter.

Let it Ride is when a bettor who wins lets the entire amount won ride on his next choice.

The best fictional horse racing movie there is. In my younger days I spent a fair amount of time at the races, and the characters in this film made me feel like I was back at the track. Someone who's never been to a horse race may feel the characters are exaggerated, but they are not. I still remember the time I was handicapping a race when a somewhat inebriated gentleman began singing at the top of his lungs "make the world go away". A good gift for a friend.

Theoretically, I should not be reviewing this. I purchased this as a gift for a friend. I thought I would give a second hand review...
She says it is one of her favorite films. She laughed at it all the way throughout. And has watched it three times since I gave it to her. So I hope this makes you realize that someone really likes this one. If you like Dreyfus comedies, You will probably like this. My only comment is my copy was from region 4 (not USA) Maybe it will be issued again in the US for a new younger audience to enjoy. One of my favorite movies. Under the radar for most people. Great characters played by a wonderful cast of actors. This is a great movie with plenty of sizzle and pop. Buy it, or at least watch it. Just a feel good movie

Let it Ride is just a feel good movie about a day at the race track and the cast of characters that make up his friends. I would recommend this movie to everyone that's just wants that "one" day .

Really Funny

One of the best all time horse track betting movies of all time. I had a smile on my face from start to finish. You dont need to like the track to completly enjoy this film. Funny movie

My late husband and I love horse racing. This movie brings back all the characters I met at the track. It’s a lot of fun to watch!!
