Enjoyable satire of the Penal System

Dax Shepherd ( Employee of the Month ) stars as an institutionalized young convict bent on revenge. He blames his life (to date) in prison on a certain Judge who kept sending him back to prison for crimes he committed. Upon his latest release, he is determined to kill the Judge but finds out that the Judge died of natural causes just days ago. His entire vengence is now switched to the Judge's son (about the same age and a spoiled brat)Dax engineers a "crime" and the son is sent to prison. Of course, Dax purposely violates his parole by selling drugs to undercover cops so he can also be in prison and even makes a deal with the Judge for the maximum sentence if she will send him to a max joint (the same as the Judge's son). Once back inside, it is a long line of hysterical farces. The Warden on down are all on the take, graft rules the entire prison, cons grow pharmaceutical grade drugs inside their cells. The satire in this is so outrageous that you have to sit and laugh for an hour and a half. Absolutely nothing is sacred or held back in the humor. Dax and his plans of revenge make the movie ( and of course, nothing he plans comes out as he wants it, but that just makes it better). It has an easily followable plot and the ending is not a surprise as the movie unfolds, but you wont be disappointed in buying or watching this one.Lire l'avis complet...

Everyone Loves that Infantile Humor. Especially in Jail

Welcome to a sly and unappealing look at life in and outside of prison from the perspective of John Lyshitski (Dax Shepard-"Employee of The Month"), a dead-beat petty criminal that always seems to want to do anything to go back to prison. His lifelong crime is being too stupid for to live in the real world, so he chooses prison life to anything else because that's all he's good at doing, living in prison.

This film wouldn't be so funny, except Lyshitski gets out and calls the Honorable Judge Biederman on the telephone, to seek revenge on his last prison sentence, but finds out that he is now deceased. John gets hopping mad, but soon finds out that the judge's rich son is the new "whipping boy" for his bag of dirty stunts and decides it's time get the Judge back by getting Nelson Biederman IV (Will Arnett) in deep trouble and sending him to jail along with his own self so he can see to it that his stay behind bars will not be pleasant.

Biederman soon finds himself sentenced to years in a maximum security penitentiary. As you can probably imagine without seeing this film, the sick inmate humor is probably enough to make you want to hurl, but then you add all
the usual amenities of the jail cell like decor, wine made in a toilet, and serious matchmaking attempts from unlikely bonding.
Dax's attempt to capture the essence of his character is successful in his renowned toughness in this prison life environment shows that he's just about comfortable behind camera playing just about anyone doing anything. Bravo!

Our soon to be ex-con, Barry (Chi McBride), shows us just how much of a teddy bear of a man he really is while courting Biederman's heart.

Directed by Bob Odenkirk, who is known for other works such as MELVIN GOES TO DINNER and MR. SHOW, the film takes on a life of it's own and manages to make you feel sorry for all these guys trying to beat out a living within a very dismal and dreary world behind bars. There is a surprise ending to it all, and also you can go back and watch the subtle differences between R and Unrated as well.

I'll give this a 3/5 for its totally laughable moments that would probably blow most folk's mind early in the film, but tend to continue watching because of the hilarious grossness of interactions between characters.

Lets Go to Prison DVD (unrated)

I only see a few movies a year in the theater, but I have been watching a lot
of silly flicks poking fun of the justice 'system' lately and this is one of them.

It has a lot of slapstick stuff in it and a funny plot pitting a small time career type criminal against an overly affected 'white collar' son of the a*****e judge who managed to make the former crooks' life miserable, sending him up for 10+years for a lot of low level bu*****t crimes. The main body of the movie concentrates on the interactions of the prisoners with each other, the crooked guards, and the SOB of a warden. There is very little social value but a pretty good 'scared straight' film for the younger set (although it is unrated, it has a clean viewing option for the "PG" crowd. A real no-brainer, you can also see it on the Comedy channel from time to time..Lire l'avis complet...

Another Prison Flix!

John Lyshitski gets his chance for sweet revenge when Nelson Biederman (Will Arnett) -- the son of the judge who sent Lyshitski to jail -- is wrongfully convicted of a crime and sentenced to prison. The scheming Lyshitski deliberately gets tossed back in the clink, where he does everything in his power to ensure that his new cellmate -- Biederman -- experiences all the wonders of prison life. I laughed much in this, nice camera work and great one liners made this very enjoyable. Exceeded my expectations. Buy it.Lire l'avis complet...
