All you need in a phone

I bought this phone because it had everything I needed and a lot of the things I wanted. This phone is super easy to use. I pair a bluetooth headset to it easily. In fact I had to turn my phone off to pair my wifes motorola because every time I turned on the bluetooth headset, my phone picked it up immediately and tried to paid. The sound quality on the media player is great and has lots of extra's including call reject which gets rid of those harrassing calls. If I want to bluetooth somthing to someone...super easy plus I can fully custimize my phone with ringer and photo id. Plus along with my data cable, I can make my own ringtones and bluetooth them to other people.

With all this great stuff, this phone is far from perfect. First off, the phones shows prints and smudges like you wouldn't believe. The speakerphone is not that great. For some reason, even though it uses the same speakers, it is not as loud as the mp3 player. Plus you have to leave the phone open to talk on the speaker which is a little annoying. The reception is so so but the battary life is aweful. I only use my phone an average of 2-3 times daily and for only 3-5 minutes. With this usage, I still have to charge my phone every 3 days. I even leave it off over night. Next, the micro sd slot is a pain. Its super hard to get out. Not only is it under the battary but its tucked in a crevise that is not reachable by human hands without nails. The card slot is great for memory expansion, but put it in and leave it in. Lastly, the picture quality is good but the pictures always have a bit of a yellowish tint to it when indoors.

Now even though I had a lot to complain about, i am still pleased with my phone. I'm happy with the deal I got on it. But concidering it retails less than the razr, it should be eligible for insurance

LG cu500

The LG CU500 is the first carrier-offered HSDPA phone in North America. It's a quad-band world phone with a great slim design, external music buttons, and a camera with a rotating lens. Features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, an audio player, a Micro SD memory card slot, a speakerphone, and access to exclusive content, courtesy of At&t Video and At&t Music.

The LG CU500 has two superskinny function buttons on the side that are difficult to press; I also didn't like that you have to remove the battery in order to get to the Micro SD card slot..

The LG CU500 is one of the fastest phones I've ever tried, with swift downloads and impressive video streaming speeds. The feature set is impressive; the picture and audio quality are great; and the slim, attractive design is a bonus.

Good phone for those who want a multimedia phone

I've owned my cu500v for about a month now. Its a great phone. Its a little bit bigger then my old razr v3. Both screens are very bright and clear. The main selling feature for me was mp3 playback. It plays mp3's off either internal memory or a micro sd card. The placement of the card is kind of a pain, having to remove the battery to access it. Though with a data tranfer cable it acts as an external memory drive. LG uses a small, wide interface at the bottom of the phone. A usb adapter would have been a better choice here as Motorola and a few others are using now. The built in camera takes great pics and with a expansion card you can take a ton.

Everything about this phone is great, I just have a few complaints though. The camera swives to do self pictures, but you have to choose to flip image. Should do that on its own. You can't change the button configuration on the 4 way like you can on the Razr. Battery can be a little flaky. It has gone from having 4 bars of battery to dead while sitting on my desk at work(this is where having a usb adapter for power and download would of been helpfull). The battery lasts longer if blue tooth isnt turned on though.

Other then that so far its a great phone, and a good upgrade from a Razr v3.

Nice phone, with minor annoyances

Pros: Music player is great. It plays the music very loudly, and has nice speakers. The rotating camera is also pretty cool. You can take a picture of yourself, while seeing exactly what you're doing. Kind of like the razor, but this phone is better.
Cons: Battery life is a pain! Seriously, I have to bring my charger around with me everywhere because of how fast it dies out. The memory card is also in a very inconvenient place.
Overall, the phone is good, but not exactly the best phone ever. It's pretty thick, which is annoying, especially since in the pictures, it looks relatively thin. I would, however, recommend it to people who want decent features in a phone, without spending a whole lot.

LG CU500

Gets good signal in "fringe" areas. Lots of features for an inexpensive cell phone. For me Bluetooth is important. Look at the specs on one listed in eBay and they are good. The battery holds a charge for about three days and I use Bluetooth always. I wish it had "voice" dialing, I miss that. Overall I give it a pretty good rating.
I chose this phone as in the past my family has had several LG model phones and all were good, and to be honest I don't care for all the "goodies" that the newer phones have (touch dial, radio etc) although all that is ok but just not for me. The LG is simple fast to use, I just like it.

pros vs. cons review.- Let others know if this helped u

PRO's
-better signal than with my other phone (House is a black hole for that)
-pictures are wonderful quality
-LOVE the swivel camera. very useful
-nice and thin, not bulky and bulgy like old cell phone
-both inner and outer displays are both large and bright and excellent quality
-i really like how the things are organized
-haven't listened to music (YET) but i like the fact that the buttons for that are also on the outside of the phone.
-i like that when you send a text, it will be sending it while you can still multitask on your phone, and then when it's sent, it will tell you. no more sitting there with the phone open wasting precious time waiting for your message to send.
-i like the fact that you can assign buttons right off the beginning under options.

CONs
-the whole, transferring stuff to my computer is a little sketchy, but i think i've got that figured out
-protective flap over port to charge and such seems a bit flimsy. why have it there? but it makes it look nicer i suppose
-the ringers are a little.... yuck, but you can record voice and noises and set that as your ringtone. and if you dont like the ringtones the phone has, then download some

good phone

Well, this is my first phone and truely i loved it at first. It has a great mp3 player. awesome. :) Reception with the phone is okay, it works good in some low spots where a normal phone would not get service. I like outdoor pictures with this camera phone. The camera is awesome!! Memory card is hard to get in and out. But the internet and downloads are fast and easy. I get email on it too!!! I like that

Somethings i disliked were that the battery sucks. I text message a lot, i don't talk on the phone much, but when i do it is for a short time. I have to charge it every night, and sometimes when I charge it, it goes dead early in the night. So thats never fun. Sometimes it turns itself off when it's not even dead or close to it.

Even though there are things i dont like, it's a good everyday phone.

Great phone for the semi techy

The phone is a great and easy phone to use. It has the ability to use both the internet and voice calls at the same time provided that the area you are in supports UMTS/HSDPA coverage. This makes it great for when you are planning a movie and need to know the times that they start while you are talking to the person that is going with you. It has a very good camera that takes high resolution pictures. It also does great video and has access to AT&T music and video which I would suggest and unlimited data plan to use with these services. On the whole a great productLire l'avis complet...

We have headache from falsly advertised seller LG CU500

What is so great about the LG CU 500? Everything? The sound quality is awesome. I can hear everyone I speak to, perfectly. Even the speaker phone has a great range. I put the phone in the back seat of my car on speaker phone, and the person heard me great. I didn't even have to yell. The camera is good too. The pictures are really on point. The camera pictures seem to have better quality then some of these digital camera out. The keypad is very easy to dial and to txt message with. The battery does lasts a very long time. I downloaded songs to a Sd micro chip, and the songs sound so good. I love this phone.Lire l'avis complet...

Solid Phone, even compared to a Blackberry Pearl

I bought this phone as a backup for my blackberry pearl 8100, which is fragile and has had some breakage issues in the past. The LG CU500 is a very good phone with several useful features, and I've experienced no problems with thus far.

The keys are comfortably spread out, making texting much better than many phones I've used in the past, including a Samsung M500 and, even more significantly, a Razr (which sucks for texting). The texting has nothing on the blackberry, though, which has a half qwerty keyboard that is great...much better for texting than any phone with a normal keypad. Call quality is average, not as good as the blackberry, but the phone is also a quarter of the price, and it doesn't hinder performance enough to really complain. Texting and talking are my two biggest concerns with a phone, and in that respect, the blackberry pearl wins, and is still my primary phone. It also has email integration which just can't be found in older phones, like the CU500.

There are a few other factors I can compare in which the LG soundly stomps the BB, the most significant being media. While the Pearl has a newer, better display, its speaker is not that great, and the LG can blast music really clearly. It also has a cool musicID feature, which I think might charge per song, but if you let the phone "listen" to whatever's playing on the radio, it will identify the song and artist (i tested it with my computer, worked great). I'm not sure about video playback but I don't really care, because watching a video on a phone is going to suck regardless, though I do know that the CU500 can stream video over the fast data network, I just haven't tried it. This does bring me to my next point, however...

The primary reason I bought this phone, to use as a backup, was because it runs on AT&T's 3.5G HSDPA network (Blackberry can only run Edge) and has bluetooth capabilities. I've paired my blackberry to my laptop with bluetooth and the phone nearly killed itself, it won't sync with the desktop manager, can't be used as a modem, etc. etc. The LG seamlessly paired with my computer (running XP pro), and I had the high-speed dial-up connection running without any trouble at all through the standard XP bluetooth modem (just put in the right initialization commands, username, and password, which can be found online). Tried normal web browsing with Firefox and the speed is unbelievable...it's like using broadband over a 54 Mbps wireless router...not as fast as a normal cable modem, but pretty close. I used an internet speed test and got about 550 kbs download speeds and 300 kbs upload speeds, though I can't attest to how accurate those tests were. Regardless, I was very happy with the computer pairing, and I'm waiting to get in a USB cable to see if it's faster than the bluetooth modem connection. The downside is that the browser on the CU500 completely blows, the blackberry's is much better (and this particular blackberry has the worst browser in the whole BB family), therefore, if you want fast data browsing and don't have a laptop nearby, you're kind of hosed. Still, the 3.5G network is sick, and everything I've tried to do with the CU500 has worked.

It has normal phone texting and a crappy browser, those are my biggest complaints. If it had a blackberry keyboard (a blackberry flip phone would be the best phone I can imagine), the LG CU500 would be my main phone without a doubt, it is definitely the best non-smart phone I've ever used.
