Damaged KitchenAid RVSA Rotor Slicer & Shredder offered by eBay

This used KitchenAid RVSA Rotor Slicer & Shredder SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO SELL by eBay. eBay's credibility is affected. We couldn't use this item because of two big cracks around the metal that connects to the mixer. Had we've been told about the damages, we could have bought a brand new KitchenAid RVSA Rotor Slicer & Shredder. It's a total loss on our end! We are very disappointed, disgusted and sad! It's our first time to buy from eBay, gave our full trust; but eBay SHOULD HAVE TOLD US ABOUT THE CRACKS. THIS IS REALLY BAD!!!Lire l'avis complet...

KitchenAid doesn't make them like they used to...

The listed item says it is located in Dallas, Texas. If so, why was it shipped from Singapore?

The shredder and slicer cones do not fit onto the 3-pronged drive 'wheel' as originally received. I had to pry the edges of the rectangular openings on the cones so they would at least start to engage with the drive 'wheel'. I assume the metal of the cone and/or drive wheel will eventually bend to open up the connection and become more secure and easier to attach and remove. My original, circa 1978, K45 drive 'wheel' has 6 prongs and it has always been easy to attach and remove the cones.

The drive wheel 'disk' is loose at the connection to the shaft. It appears to have a hole in the disk that the shaft is inserted into and then a few small punches on the disk around the edges of the shaft hole are peened over a little bit to keep the disk from falling off the shaft. It might not come off right away, but it is already loose.

The cutters in the cones are not sharpened. They appear to have been punched leaving a flat cutting edge that was not sharpened. The 'Fine' shredding cone has only 3 cutting ripples in each segment. My original, circa 1978, K45 cone has 4 and they are all sharpened; not simply punched and flat as the new one is.

Better than the new replacement

This older version of the KitchenAid shredder is way better than the newer (safer) version. Even though used they cost about double of the new version they are still worth it. Thank you ebay for making finding one possible.Lire l'avis complet...

Not a transparent add. 1st photo Ebay purchase, 2nd photo my original slicer

The add did not state that the housing was cracked. My old slicer was cracked and that is why I ordered this one. I didn't send it back because I figured when my current slicer finally broke to the point that I could not use it, at least I would have time to search for yet another. I was disappointed because most of the adds stated that theirs was cracked and that is why I purchased this one. I guess the old adage is true it sounded too good to be true, so it wasn't true.Lire l'avis complet...

Good product

It’s very good- you just have to beware they have a tendency to develop a crack where it attaches to the mixer. I have a previous one that has
cracked, but I can still use it - just have to be careful to not put too much
pressure on it when you’re feeding things into the slicer/ shredder. I see
this one has a small crack also.

OK for replacement shaft and housing only

This product did not work as it came, but fortunately I was replacing an earlier model of this unit where the housing had cracked through. I could use the shaft and housing with my old cones to have a functioning unit. As it came, the shredders did not work at all. They created ruffled disks instead of shreds. Lire l'avis complet...

Indispensable

This set is amazingly helpful when making a large batch of something. For small amounts it may be more trouble/clean-up then it's worth.
But it's amazing for big jobs! This is excellent when our family makes 4 batches of meatballs at a time.

A family favorite my mother made all her life ~ vegetarian meat balls. She kept the recipe a secret till she FINALLY shared it in 1982.
Four batches (for family gatherings) requires 4 lb 'Kraft County Line Colby Cheese' shredded. And 4 cups pecans (or walnuts) chopped.
All of which can be ready with the large shredder blade in less than 5 minutes. - Photos

The large cutting blade does well for fried potatoes ~ potatoes for scalloped potatoes, etc.

During use, the cone gets firmly stuck on the arbor which attaches to the mixer.
We've learned to hold the end of the arbor with pliers while separating.

Great replacement for original

I bought this to replace an old cracked one. They all seem to crack in the same place. But after 35 years what do you expect? The new one is designed just a bit different where it connects to the mixer and looks like it will last well. Anyway, it works with all my original parts and I am happy to have a new one.Lire l'avis complet...

Kitchen aid rotor slicer

This product makes slicing, shredding, etc. Fast and easy giving less time spent in preparation. The slices and shreds are uniform, making them very attractive.

Poor Design

I was very happy with the shipment from the supplier, sent quickly and very well packed.
This attachment tends to crack where it mounts to the mixer. We had one that cracked so we bought this one. It cracked the first time we used it. It had a slight stress crack, hardly noticeable when we received it. This is just a poor design of KitchenAid. I will go with another style of slicer/shredder in the future. Lire l'avis complet...
