Sturdy vacuum that you know is not going to break down. All pieces and attatchments included

We have owned only one Kirby in the past. We have also owned only one vacuum in the past. Our Kirby. It lasted over 20 years; cleaning up after 3 very busy boys tracking in dirt and mud, along with their friends, pets (not to mention a husband). I knew it was getting old, and my husband kept telling me we needed a new vacuum. I told him I was not going to buy a vacuum unless it was another Kirby. They are so reliable, they suck up dirt on your carpet that you didn't even know that was there. They have an attachment that can vacuum hardwood or laminate floors. It can clean your drapes, or blinds. It can do a lot believe me! If you have never tried a Kirby, you should get a demonstration before you consider any other vacuum on the market today. Yes it's heavy, but won't need to buy a new vacuum every other year, or duct tape to keep it going.

This vacuum works great. I was surprised how well it worked. Liked it so much I bought another. I inherited my first one a couple of years ago, but due to it's weight, we only we used it on the 2nd floor. It's not suitable for young kids to take up and down stairs, but should not be a problem for the average adult or teenager. With the assisted drive feature, it's weight is not a facter while sweeping. Although it doesn't have a integrated hose on the side, this vac cleans the edges so well, you really don't need it. If you do attach the hose however, the suction matches a shop vac, which is much better than the store vacs. There are also some interesting attachements. I don't think I will use all of the different ones there are, but there are some really nice ones depending on your needs. So when the duct tape didn't hold our store vac together any more, and it was time to buy our next vac, which we had to do every other year, we decided to by another Kirby Sentria.Lire l'avis complet...

vacuum cleaner by kirby

this unit is very powerfull but also has a very high winding noice, this is caused by the motor running at a high speed and in turn the blades forcing the air thtough will produce this high pitched sound,very uncomftable & bothersome.
the unit is also heavy especially if you have to carry it up or vacuum stairs etc.
otherwise it does the job well, this are the reasons many people that bought this type of vacuum cleaner will get rid of it in my opinion.Lire l'avis complet...

Still a good product

Wobbles a little when being pushed forward but still does an overall great job. Suction is so good that carpet is lifted. Carpet fibers looked new after one pass... Definitely a brand we will continue to support.Lire l'avis complet...

Kirby Sentria 2

Kirby has done it again. This is a great machine and yes, it absolutly sucks - up everything. My ex-wife got my last kirby and I needed a new vacuum. So I searched for another Kirby. The Sentria is amazing in its power and filtration. Yes the bags cost a little more but the extra filtration is well worth the price ( .1 micron).
After a little research I discovered that the Kirby still draws more vacuum then other vacuums. Kirby does this with less Amps which mak)es the kirby stronger and more effecient. (Google Kirby vs Dyson)
I am amazed at how powerful this vacuum is. The Kirby literally sucks itself to the floor drawing in all the dirt sand and debris with every pass. I have gotten amazing results from this product. You do not realize how dirty your carpets are until you use a good vacuum and then check out the bag. It's shocking how well the Kirby works.
I am glad the kirby still has a transmission to move itself around. I am also glad to see Kirby has not given in to making a cheaper or lighter machine. I apprecite a quality all metal vacuum that I know is going to last me a very long time. My mother has a Kirby that is almost 20 yrs old without issue. Bad vacuum, had to pay to have repaired

This Kirby was reportedly “tested.” That was very far from the truth: had to pay $100 from the Kirby repair shop, engine brushes were bad as was the cord. The vacuum wouldn’t start. Once repaired it runs well. I would advise those buying a used Kirby get one from a dealer, repair expert or have video proof that the unit works. Once obtained take it to a Kirby shop—a few dollars to clean it up well worth it. In the end the sellar refunded the cost of the repair.Lire l'avis complet...

Great American machine that will clean almost everything in the house!

There is still something to say about American products, this vacuum just reeks quality. From it's polished retro aluminum body with it's LED headlight, to its powerful suction and versatility. I really like this machine not only because it is quality, because it is versatile in assisting to clean your entire house. With a couple of steps it converts from an upright to a canister. It also shampoos and yes really, it can give you a scalp massage. I am not kidding there is an attachment that will give you a scalp massage, I use it on my dog and he loves it. The bare floor head is smooth and roles nicely. Before I bought this vacuum I had a Hoover Windtunnel canister that lasted around 10 years however stuff started to fall apart and break early on and the only reason it lasted as long as it did is because about 6 years ago I bought a used one at a garage sale and used it for parts. I then bought a Dyson canister and after that a Miele canister off Ebay and promptly sold them both back on ebay. Both of these vacuums came with high reviews along with high prices. The Dyson was so bad I could have used a broom and dustpan and got better results on picking up my Jack Russell hair off the rugs, the Miele was as bad if not worse, the design is so bad on the air driven beater brush head that it would stick on my low pile rugs making it almost impossible to vacuum at all. Both of those vacuums are 100% plastic construction for a very high price. The Kirby is about 80% aluminum construction. It is a bit heavy but if you learn how to use it the weight is not an issue at all. It has power drive with a foot leaver on the back that engages it neutral to power and it makes it feel like it weighs nothing. They also have thought of almost everything when it come to cleaning your entire house, a small handle when it converts to a canister, then leave the beater brush on and lift to clean your mattress, a small debris catcher that holds small debris so it does not clunk around the beater brush, a beater brush indicator light to let you know if brush is working. The LED light is very bright and I am sure long lasting like other LED lights the lights in my other vacuums went out almost immediately, I purchased a new bulb for my Hoover it lasted less than a week and it was burnt out again. If I can find some negatives it would be the tools are not onboard like some other vacuums and the tubes for the hard floor attachments do not clip lock together, but if they did have an attachment clip lock they would probably break like the ones on my Hoover and Kenmore did and I would have to use duck take to hold the tubes together. On the Kirby they use friction to hold together and it works pretty good but they do on occasion slip apart at the neck and all I do is push them together and they are good to go. It came with a tool caddy that you can mount on a wall or door that holds all the tools except the carpet shampooer. If you buy any other vacuum you will probably be replacing it in less than 5 to 10 years. This will be the last vacuum I will have to buy. I got a GREAT deal on this 2009 vacuum at $430.00 including shipping and a new one is around $1300.00 and they have not changed, I was willing to bid higher on that auction after spending near $500.00 on the other two brands. Even at $1300.00 it is the last vacuum you will ever have to buy, so it is still a bargain. My friends mother bought a Kirby in the early 1970s for $500.00 and she still uses it to this day.Lire l'avis complet...

Wise Investment...will others last as long!

Super Vac; does a great job, quality components and is very versitile. We have had Kirbys for years w/o any major problems. As a matter of fact parts are very available and REASONABLY priced. We have had other brands and they have not held up as well as any of our Kirbys. Don't be fooled by fancy gimmicks, rolling balls, super suction motors and bypass filters that do not hold up to everyday use. Well built machine

This is my 2nd kirby machine , these machines are under rates . high quality , low maintainece, even enjoy the self propel feature.. Would not own any other brand after having my 1st one 10 years.
