Great game to play with!!

You mainly play through KillZone 3 as Sev a ground squad commander. He takes you from Helghan jungles to icy cliffs in the main campaign. The game's heart beat is running on high through the entire game. The pacing is well thought out with a few side missions thrown in like: Jet Pack levels, and stealth assignments. The local co-op is a riot to play, and is highly deserving some new story driven DLC. I recommend KillZone 3 to any one that wants to have an exciting evening playing a sci-fi shooter.
Pros: Amazing campaign, local Co-op, fun offline and online multi-player, spot on controls
Cons: Unable to play against your buddy offline, not nearly enough Operations missions
?: Why are the Co-op windows like wide-screened to the extent that I am only seeing like 25" windows for my player when I have a 37" TV?

Great FPS with a Sci-Fi Battlefield gaming style.

Killzone 3 is the Halo of PS3 with a twist of battlefield style gameplay. The campaign has a great story line but you cannot connect with the a few of the characters because of their sudden disappearances and reappearances with no explanation of where they been. The graphics on the other hand are top of the line and really makes you show your respect for hi-definition and the game is very smooth and runs perfectly. The multiplayer has a wide variety of unlocks and great servers. The few problems of the game consist of minor glitches, lags, and parts of the story that are a little repetitive. Overall this game is one of the best games for the PS3 and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys battlefield style gameplay with a sci-fi theme.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Shooter

Graphics are amazing. It has a very detailed single player campaign, and the online multiplayer is a lot of fun. I was overall satisfied with the game. There were only a few things I disliked about it, including the shortage of multiplayer maps,(there are only 8 but I know there will also be DLCs with extra maps)lack of split screen online multiplayer, (but there is co-op campaign) and the language. Despite this however, this game is above the average shooter. It is definitely a contender to games like Call of Duty and Halo, and is a game that should make Xbox 360 owners jealous of those that have a PS3.Lire l'avis complet...

Killzone 3 less appealing than Killzone 2

I was really hyped about KZ3 after playing KZ2 for over a year. Unfortunately this game was more like Killzone 1.5 rather than the third installment in the franchise. It has many fewer options than Killzone 2: no custom games, no campaign stats kept in game and a host of other options are missing. The squad system is a giant step backwards and the clan system is a shell of the system in KZ2.

The game play in KZ3 is much less challenging and the maps are not as good as they were in KZ2. Operations is by far the best part of the game but the developers only put Operations on 3 maps. Along with the fact that not all maps even have the Warzone option, but are strictly Guerrilla Warfare only. (team deathmatch) Which makes for a paltry amount of maps for such a major release. Plus, Sony had DLC maps for sale before the game was even playable online. Seemed quite the money grab considering the massive amount of network errors, disconnects, lobbies that refused to launch.

Warzone, the classic mode of Killzone has been ruined by an extremely over powered "Marksman" class that has a one hit kill weapon, plus a silenced automatic rifle, plus a machine pistol, plus radar jamming, and permanent cloak that remains if the Marksman kills with the silenced automatic rifle. Thus reducing Warzone to a perpetual camp fest. The substitution of Tactical Spawn Points rather than the spawn grenade has further increased the camping as the TSP's are static and everyone knows exactly where they are at all times. Players simply surround the TSP's and either kill everyone that tries to use them. In effect, forcing the other team to be confined to their base where they are base raped until the game ends. A rather dull and boring conclusion for both teams.

In Guerrilla Warfare, the Marksman has completely taken over all of the games as no one even bothers to play a different class. Which is also extremely boring as everyone simply finds a dark corner and waits for someone to get bored enough to try and move somewhere. It is the definition of camping and it incredibly unsatisfying.

On a positive note, the graphics are amazing and the Single player has some fun bits. The cinematic cut scenes are probably the best I have ever seen. However, SP Campaign only took me 6.5 hours to complete which makes it one of the shortest Single Player games I've ever played. There are several new weapons and the unlock system allows players to more quickly rank up the class they prefer to play. And Operations almost saves the game it's so good. But, with only 3 maps in the rotation, it too becomes stale rather quickly.

It really looks like Sony only pushed this game for release as a tool to sell the "Move" system and to promote the 3D aspect for TV sales. The game falls woefully short in original ideas, well designed maps, and game play. It feels like most all other current shooters on the market and that is not a selling point for me.

All in all, this is a rental, or purchase a used game at a discount price.

BEST TRILOGY EVER!!!

Killzone 3 is the PS3’s answer to Halo, at least this is what the critics and fanboys want gamers to believe. For others like myself, who really haven’t played any of the previous games in the series, Killzone 3 looks and feels like just another generic FPS; surprisingly it’s much, much more.

One of the big things that surprised me was that this game looks really good! Whether it’s during the cut screens, the character models or even the diverse environments, everything looked gorgeous and polished. As a matter of fact, I would have to say: this is one of the best looking FPS games on the market. Sorry Black Ops, Killzone 3 just looks better.

For once in an FPS I found the story to be interesting. There are a few twists and the characters are quirky, in a sense it reminded me of Half-Life. The single player game runs around 6-8 hours, which was an entertaining adventure with some variety. This included stealth elements and on-rails shooting sequences from a variety of vehicles. Space combat in one section of the game was also a welcome change. The AI is marginally helpful and serves as either a distraction for the enemies or as source of life support, with the idea that it’s there to keep the player alive. This is a great concept that unfortunately only works right about half the time. The jetpack is a fantastic tool in the game and is 10 times more fun than when I first played at PAX. I honestly think that every level could use a jetpack.

The multiplayer is where the game shines, although there have been some server and network issues. Most of this is related to getting large number of people into squads or having the game randomly disconnect. They're even having a problem where the game causes the players PS3 to completely lock-up, forcing a hard restart of their system! Knowing Sony, there will be a large patch coming in the near future. The class system in multiplayer works well and there’s enough variety in the game modes to keep things fresh. The jetpacks and mechs add vertical elements to some of the maps as well. Guerrilla Warfare does a nice job of mixing the game modes up over several rounds so nothing becomes too stale.

The big question that I'm posing is: should gamers rush out and buy it? Well as someone that wasn't previously a fan, I’d say there is nothing to lose by getting Killzone 3 ASAP. Although, if you loved the other two games, chances are you preordered Killzone 3 and skipped work to pick it up anyways. It’s a fun game and from the sounds of it there is going to be a strong multiplayer community for several months. That's another reason to justify buying the game. You'll be getting your money’s worth out of this one.

Great game overall that will not disappoint.

This game was alright for me. The storyline was probably one of the best things about it because it just keeps going along from where the last one left off. It also ends in a very fun way. hehe. Anyways, I enjoyed this game for its storyline. The multiplayer was a bit of a turn off for me because the maps made my eyes strain, especially on the alien maps and the green one. Some of the multiplayer features are cool but like I said, the storyline is one of the best things about the game.Lire l'avis complet...

3rd time is a charm

Every action you do in Killzone is immersive; the combat more intense and savage than other shooters. It's this design that makes Killzone 3 so engrossing and fun despite its weak story. With the fantastic pacing and set pieces in the campaign, along with the improved, fun multiplayer, Guerilla's crafted a must own for PS3 shooting enthusiasts.Killzone 3 is all about a war between two factions of humans. On one side, we have the ISA, the good guys with human faces; on the other side are the Helghast, the red-goggled, mask-wearing enemies who are hell bent on subduing the rest of the universe. Killzone 3 picks up right where two left off, with a small group of ISA soldiers struggling to survive after being effectively cut off and left on the hostile Helghan homeworld. Throughout it all, you play as Sev, the returning hero from the second game, who is out to do as much damage to the enemy as he can before he's caught, killed or rescued.Killzone 3 succeeds as a superb first-person shooter. Guerilla has once again proven that they know how to make the most visceral feeling first-person combat on the market. The controls are considerably tighter than they were in two, but I love how everything you do in Killzone 3 still feels like there's momentum behind it. From climbing ladders to running to slamming into cover, Killzone 3 makes you feel like your character is grounded in the world around him. Even shooting feels more real thanks to the weight and swing of the weapon – but not at the cost of overly floaty controls.
Killzone 3 also does a nice job at breaking up the levels between sections where you're on foot, and where you're kicking ass in a super powered vehicle. While the entire game is very linear, Guerilla's done a great job at varying what you're doing just enough from moment to moment to keep you from seeing behind the curtain too much. Each skirmish is so intense, and so visually satisfying, that I'm often too engrossed to think about the story or how I'm being funneled in a very specific direction.

Killzone 3 Review

I bought Killzone 3 for a friend and have played it extensively with him since he got it. I like the multiplayer the best, the action is great and the hit-box is much improved from the prequel. The added ability to connect with multiple people from a single xbox helps the servers stay full & keeps connection times fast. My biggest dislike of the game is the storyline in the campaign & the absence of any real foundation to why the Helghast are so bad & evil, beyond the fact they look like German Wehrmachts (propaganda) and continue to participate in evil atrocities throughout the game. The game is definitely worth buying again if I had to, but I wouldn't buy or need a second copy though.Lire l'avis complet...

Great multiplayer with some issues

I have the multiplayer version only. The Call of Duty's are laughable next to this game. The look and feel of kz3 (and kz2 for that matter) is incredible. Despite Guerilla inexplicably deleting some kz2 elements that needed no changing, kz3 added more and/or improved certain aspects of kz2 that make it a slightly better game, particularly the move/aim controls (although it's still not quite right). As great as this game is, it has one major problem...it uses the Playstation Network for multiplayer. And, as most of you know, P.S.N. equals L.A.G. There are also several minor issues that leave the game unpolished. Also, a group of marksmen can slow a game to a crawl (boo, campers). But, again, the look and feel!!! Fantastic game that makes me keep coming back for more! 4.5 out of 5.Lire l'avis complet...

Great... except for the story

First I should say I played it in 3D because I'm told that the game is not in as high a resolution in 3D mode, but it is still one of the best looking games I've ever played and the 3D effects are outstanding. In 3D you will see bullets fly at you, snow blow in your face, and Helghan blood gush on your screen. If you have a 3D tv and a PS3 the game is a must buy. The sound effects are really good in some areas and the set piece battles are fun if not very clever. The only bad part is that the story is so cheesy. I kept rooting for the Helghan (basically British space Nazis) because the character you play as and his battle buddies are so annoying and cliche.Lire l'avis complet...
