non-stop action

checked what all the hype was about this game. it turns out, it really is a cool game to play. the graphics of the game although it supports only 1080i(right of the box), is still crisp and smooth. i just bought my 1st ps3 and it's a limited gun grey edition and i'm used to playing my FPS on a keyboard and mouse. for me, it takes getting used to the aiming controls of the dual shock controller. so i use a frag fx controller in aiming. i notice a bit of lag when pressing buttons on either one, e.g. jump button.i notice a split second lag between pressing and execution. the AI of the game is excellent.enemies constantly move in all directions. their strength is in numbers, try to surround you and pin you down. you can't wait for an enemy's to pop out of hiding especially when he/they know you are already zoomed and aimed for the head shot. they will move to another location to keep you on your toes. unlike some fps games out there where in you can keep lots of kinds of nades and maybe max of 3 guns, the game will only allow you to carry 1 assault rifle or sub at a time and 1 side arm. i was expecting at least that you can carry 2. exchange your side arm with another type that you pick up in the game. the side arm provided in the game has unlimited ammo( in normal difficulty).i haven't tried the harder modes yet. if you would compare this to another game, say, call of duty 4, it falls a little short for the rating. all in all, the creativity, intelligent AI and innovation makes this game an awesome title to play.Lire l'avis complet...

See? PS3 *can* Do Decent Graphics!

I have not finished the game yet, so keep that in mind!

Movement and Control:

The cover system is...different...and sometimes glitchy. Random surfaces (that look almost identical to ones around them) will for some reason be "invalid" cover surfaces. You'll walk up to them, hold L2, and your character will just crouch instead of taking cover. Weird, but a minor inconvenience. For the most part, it works properly. It takes some getting used to after playing other stop'n'pop games like Gears of War and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, though.

Aiming can be a chore sometimes, as there seems to be a very large dead spot in the analog stick (not my controller). This means that if you're used to making tiny adjustments to your aim by flicking the right stick, you've gotta re-learn. Nudge it. Aiming as a whole seems to be geared towards precision rather than speed.

Weapons:

I cannot comment on all of them, as I'm sure I haven't found them all yet, but the ones I have used are rendered beautifully and sound cool when you pull the trigger. Precision aiming is done through the actual sights on the actual gun, instead of simply zooming in and presenting you with a reticle. So far, there doesn't seem to be anything that I haven't virtually used in any other game, but they're fun to use. I only wish you could carry more than one (other than your magic pistol with the infinite ammo). And what FPS would be complete without a big ol' shotgun? The boomstick in this game is, in a word, satisfying.

Story and Voice Acting:

Meh. Who cares? Let's go find some more stuff to shoot.

Graphics:

It's a PS3 game with anti-aliasing and decent textures. 'Nuff said, but if you throw in the blur effects and the fantastic lighting, it puts it above 98% of the (console) games out there. It's in a class with Gears of War 2. The graphical style is sort of "Gears of War meets Call of Duty 4" with a bunch of really crappy weather on top.

Not a perfect game, but pretty close!

The one thing I don't like about the game is that you can't fully customize the controller settings and even with it set up how I have it now, I am not totally satisfied. The character handling also feels a bit sluggish compared to other games I have played. I would have liked it to be a bit more responsive.

The game itself has amazing graphics and great cut-scenes during campaign mode. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the online multiplayer is in this game. I was kind of worried, because I have played a few other big name titles. My expections are high with online multiplayer. I would have to say Killzone 2 meet and exceeded my expectations for this game. While it is different from other games it is truly its own model.

I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking to change up there FPS experience with great visuals and captivating online battles!

Solid 1st person shooter

Killzone 2 is a top notch shooter with some of the best graphics around, a good story and great controls. It is definitely a game for hardcore shooter fans. You learn quickly not to just run in with guns blazing in this game. To be successful, you have to make good use of cover and take a more strategic approach. It has a few issues though; too many areas seemed to have infinitely spawning enemies (which I find tedious), the bad guys were a little too hard to kill - it shouldn't take 3 head shots to kill your average grunt, the environment never changes, and you can only carry two weapons (1 of which is a pistol) at a time, which leaves you stuck with a crappy gun too often.
I didn't really get into the multi-player side of the game because I bought the game about a year after it's release and found the online competition to be way too experienced to make it fun for me.
Despite its shortcomings, it's still a great game, though I don't recommend you play it within earshot of young kids as their are a lot of f-bombs in it.

Recommend!

Singleplayer

The singleplayer has a nice story but negligible, especially scores the game with a grand look, exciting battles, beautiful artdesign, fine sound and a decent portion tactics (cover, alternative routes, etc.). The whole is but a matter of taste, it is rather a bleak scenario, the atmosphere in the future, playing Call of Duty is not large and Boss monsters, aliens and / or offers varied scenarios. You fight in a war against the Helghast, on an inhospitable planet, it's dusty, drecking and gray! Thus, the entire color palette of the game described. Jungle? Beach? Colorful colors? Nothing doing! It is only logical for the developers, I like the scenario, no, I love it, others could make the whole graphically quickly find boring.

The AI (Artificial Intelligence) of the soldiers is a beautiful, at least on higher difficulty levels. It is flanked to cover gehechtet, the positions changed and where barrage. Man himself is constantly under pressure, is forced into the cover and is also due to the mission objectives is always forced to move. An extremely exciting and challenging shooter in a class.

What do not like is that you are always only a small weapon and a large weapon may carry. At least two large would have been desirable. The problem, I suppose shot, I'm the enemy in me from the distant beharken, badly off, I take the sniper rifle, the soldier in me rankommen hard to defeat. The strong opponents, the levels varied - you are constantly ahead of other challenges and need a weapon which can do because you only have a slot. What remains are light and heavy machine guns. A pity because the variety of weapons is here!

Another point of the Singleplayer - the enemies are quite differently. Rarely there is armor, drones, or otherwise designed elite troops. Here a little variety would have done well, finally, is the color / level also quite differently.

Another point of criticism: For Release no co-op mode!

Despite the criticisms Killzone is a game in Singleplayer grenade and gleams with crisp groovy gameplay.

MULTIPLAYER

For me THE REASON TO BUY! The servers are not yet online, but I have with bots tried pretty much everything. The maps are fantastic designs! Diversified, narrow streets meet vast fields with tremendous vision, there are countless freischaltbare classes, weapons and special powers. These rankings, clans, PlayStation league etc! The best is but the dynamic gameplay! No multiplayer shooter offers these dynamics. You play not just Capture the Flag or Teamdeatmatch - the goals are constantly changing. It begins and must e.g. Centers are taking, after 5 min is obtained by radio command a particular opposing player auzuschalten and one from his team to protect, then you have a radio in the base bring. There are umpteen different goals / missions. Constantly in motion, you have to adapt, rearrange, tactically different approach! GRANDIOS!

They play all the classes are different and all equally important tactically! Mark sniper targets, Commander seztzen on the map additional spawn points in connection with the dynamic missions really bring spice inside, there are healers, saboteurs, etc.!

I have a lot of multiplayer games a lot and long gezockt, Killzone 2 is an Gears of War, Halo or Call of Duty 4 loose (!) In the bag! For me the multiplayer reference.

Killzone 2

The graphics in this game are top notch. I really cannot think of another games that really gives me a greater thrill when I do get that head shot. Also, the game is still pretty darn hard even on normal for the casual gamer, which mean that it always has you on the edge of your seat. One complaint that I do have (and in my opinion is pretty big) is that the controls are quite slow. Every other FPS seems to respond quicker than this game. Game play does become more difficult in my opinon then, and I know I am not the only one to say this. Overall though, FANTASTIC game and it comes from me as a very high recommendation.

Killzone 2, not the best, but a must-have for fps fans

I bought this game because I love shooters and wanted to own the must-have app exclusive for ps3. I waited awhile for the price to come down because I don't have the money to drop at release. Bottom line- graphics are gorgeous, action is exciting and the story compelling. The characterization is a bit light, but you identify with the right ones so it works out. I found the single-player a bit short for my liking, but the multiplayer options more than makes up for it. Great match-making, with varied level design make for a very worthwhile multiplayer option. My only complaint are the controls aren't as tight as I would like. Coming from CoD4:MW, you can tell the difference that these are completely different shooters. Different perhaps, but not worse. Though I do prefer playing Modern Warfare.Lire l'avis complet...

Worth the $12 I spent.

First things first, I have never played a game that I think deserves a 5/5 (or an Excellent rating). That being said, Killzone 2 comes pretty close. My only real complaint is the lack of button remapping. I think every game should have that. While I'm able to adapt to different button mapping, the sticks are harder to adapt to. Luckily they're the way I like. I imagine it would be difficult for some people, especially if you like the Legacy stick setup that was popular in Goldeneye on the N64, which this game doesn't support.

But, if you like the standard shooter controls and can adapt to a less than optimal button layout, you should enjoy Killzone 2. My favorite feature is the ability to turn off the HUD. I love when games do that. It makes games feel so much more immersive and fun.

Overall, it's a good game that I plan on keeping in my collection. I would never have paid full price for it, but it was easily worth the $12 I bought it for on ebay.

Great game. But not Excellent.

The single player campaign is fun, but not excellent. The best part about it is admiring the enormous maps and detailed graphics. But little things like corny voice acting and slightly clunky controls keep it at 90/100 when it could be 100/100. Plus, only having one primary weapon at a time is kind of a bummer. Especially when you notice that your pistol has a very slow fire-rate and is basically useless.

However, the online mode is awesome. I played it for like 4 hours straight my first time. The way they seamlessly transition from one game mode to another, without ending the actual game, is refreshing and fun. The action never stops.

Good game for FPS gamers looking for something different than Call of Duty and WW2 stuff.

overall good experience

the game works great for the most part. I had a problem with the game a couple of times when I played it. the problem was that the game audio would all of sudden go mute in the middle of a game. this happened a couple if times and it made me a little upset seeing how I just got the game not to long ago. so I quit out of the game and went back to it, it worked fine after that. but like I said earlier, this happened to me a total of two times now. I'm pretty dang sure it isn't my ps3 because I just bought the new ps3 slim. so my ps3 is brand new. whatever, it's not a huge issue but it will get annoying if this keeps happening. I figure the disc has a minor scratch somewhere that us causing this problem every now and then. I'll try and get tar disc buffed and polished, maybe that'll fix the issue all together. I did recurve the game pretty fast in the mail so that made me happy. ; )Lire l'avis complet...
