More offensive than mandingo...

My aunt had shown me this movie when I was in my middle teens (perhaps a bit young for the Catholic high school girls in trouble episode; R rated) and I am only seeing this again at 35. I liked it then, and still would show it to friends now. [NOT for schoolmarms or teetotalers.] A series of short clips mocking commercials, news, movie previews and the Kung Fu genre, The Kentucky Fried movie can still bring smiles and laughter. It is corny, stupid, racist, sexist, strange, more stupid and somewhat interesting. It is also a comedy. It is not 100% predictable, and has a few lines (requerdos a todos; twy it again, this time with feelwing) worth reusing later when your significant other is least expecting it. Not amazing, and maybe difficult for younger generations to catch, the Kentucky Fried Movie projected on the wall, might be just the thing your hip martini party, or strange humored friends need.Lire l'avis complet...

Sums it Up

I remember seeing this movie back in high school or college and liking it. It is an early effort by the Abrams/Zucker/Zucker team that did all the Airplane and Police Squad movies and shows. Because of that, the humor is very similar to the type of humor in those movies, if you like them you will probably like this as well. Two caveats though: This movie is more a series of unrelated short skits and scenes, rather than a complete story like the other movies. Think of it like a collection of SNL or SCTV skits on video. The other caveat is that this movies is quite a bit raunchier than the later movies, ie: more T and A and sexual situations. If that sort of thing bothers you, then be aware.

I gave the video four stars rather than five because the productions values of the original film or maybe the video transfer are a bit rough. I bought this video not only because I liked it, but also for a sort of preserve-the-past effort. Videos like these and others are not "politically correct" in the least, and I fear that in the future there will be attempts to banish these as being offensive. So by squirrel these away I can be assured that they will be available to future generations.

Entertaining spoof of TV

For years,I've had this film on video and it's nice to also have it on DVD.It is a genuinely funny satire of television, but the main thing that I enjoy are the scenes featuring sexy women, especially the scene titled,"The Wonderful World Of Sex," which features a very hot black woman. On the menu for this DVD it gives you the option of watching the film in widescreen or full-screen,but for some reason I was unable to view the full-screen option. The picture on the front of the disc itself was sloppy and it appears that I may have gotten a bootleg version.Oh well.At least I can watch this film in widescreen. If I ever want to watch it in full-screen I can always pop in the video.Lire l'avis complet...

A Bright & Funny Film...Bawdy Good Humor.

This movie is totally out of control humor with an all-star cast like Bill Bixby & Tony Dow who passed away months ago. From the director of Animal House, Trading Places, An American Werewolf In England, etc... & the writing team of Airplane & The Naked Gun, this movie has parody movie & advertising plug that put u in stitches also the news. It's a cult classic.Lire l'avis complet...

Unpolished, cheap, trashy and funny.

In the early 1970's, there was a series of comedy films that were little more than a series of short skits and vignettes strung together. The Groove Tube, Tunnel Vision, Kentucky Fried Movie combined raunchy and drug-culture humor with fast pace and were the inspirational precursors for Saturday Night Live.
Of this series, Kentucky Fried Movie stands out. As the most notable of early John Landis comedies, KFM quickly became a midnight movie cult classic.
I recently purchased the DVD (hint: don't spend a lot on it) and, while dated, it was funnier than I remember. The centerpiece of the film, "A Fistful of Yen" (a spoof of Bruce lee's "Enter The Dragon") remains a classic and is good enough reasonn itself for buying this DVD.

This Film Is A Sleeper

What's not to like. Over the top 1970's humor which would not be allowed through the door in today's woke culture in Hollywood..

Incredibly Funny - A "Must See"!

Although released over 30 years ago, Kentucky Fried Movie's satirical, raunchy humor hasn't aged a bit.

This movie was the breakthrough film for the writer/producer team that followed up with the equally funny "Airplane!" in 1980.

KFM is a series of spoofs and satires (think Saturday Night Live's best sketches of all time, except uncensored) of movies, commercials & TV news.

The first bit is a news anchor announcing, "The popcorn you're eating has been p**ssed in, film at 11:00." From there, it's about 90 minutes of non-stop laughter.

The humor in KFM is often visual: If you're stepping out of the room for even a few seconds, hit the "pause" button or risk missing some of the best bits.

The only bad thing about Kentucky Fried Movie is it never got the critical acclaim it deserved. KFM defined the genre of modern film satire. If you enjoyed "Airplane!", "Austin Powers", "Scary Movie" or other spoofs of pop culture, Kentucky Fried Movie is a must have for your video library.

an oldie but goodie...

A precursor to SNL and funny for its day. Not to be taken so seriously and enjoyed it from the days as a teen. A real rare find and well worth the memories. GER
