Maybe not for kids

First of all, the concept is very cool and the hardware is mostly good. I experienced two major problems with this in the almost 2 months I've had it. 1) Kano's app for Mac keeps crashing and according to their helpdesk they didn't know when it would be fixed as of November '22. I suspect they really aren't supporting it any more since the Pixel Kit debuted in 2017. In addition, to program/run your programs, the device must be plugged in to your computer if you use the Kano software ~ more on programming later. 2) I let my kids use it, and it fell off the couch onto the carpeted floor and the battery pack broke free within the case. I've seen at least one other device where the battery pack broke free. If you purchase a device, make sure you pay less than $40.

The Pixel Kit is really cool, and is programmable via Wi-Fi if you download a 3rd party flashing tool that was created by Murilo Polese who developed the Pixel Kit but no longer works at Kano. It runs microPython and is a very cool little interface, but you have to be able to understand a little bit to get it running on your network. If that doesn't work for you, you can always flash the original Kano software back on the device with his flashing tool.

I wouldn't recommend it for kids due to being somewhat fragile, but if you're into tinkering around with programming it's great for adults. I had a blast ~ until it broke.Lire l'avis complet...

highly disappointing....

so... this product claims to teach your kids how to code...

this.. is partially true, because all the "courses" you just follow along and it doesn't really let you think about your next move or really has a learning process though out...

also it claims that you can download the app to use it... however.. the app is ONLY compatible with like 1% of android devices out there (seriously go and check the reviews in the play store) ...
and once you do find a device to download it to.... the app will only work with the magic wand....

lastly it claims that you can store your creations in the device... BUT... you can only store images.... NOT stuff that you code... like say... you created a cool little program that lets you roll a set of dice? AWESOME BUT... you can only use those programs you created while its connected to your computer.... yup.. ***COMPUTER*** not a mobile device....

ohh and one more thing.... the once made after 2017... no longer include a tilt sensor....

you can ONLY store images that you could might as well create with an etch a sketch and you can only store 3 of them..... This is a SERIOUS let down for me personally.....Lire l'avis complet...

Great for Kids, Great for Adults. Indestructable!

This product is a lot of fun. yes. you can drop it and no worry. you can also no worried about your 7 year old dropping it or breaking it.

Best. Toy. Ever.

Bought for my 8 y.o. for birthday & turns out she likes it! Heck, I'd go as far as to say she loves it. (Which is amazing because this kid never likes anything) best part about it is I even love it, definitely got something new to do with my child that we BOTH enjoy.
